Should people who voted for Brexit be allowed to apply for an Irish Passport?

I think you'' find those of us who are politically aware are furious at the referendum being held in the first place, thats why Dave had to do a runner.

Then furious at the politicians, Labour included, who pushed and pushed and pushed for the vote to be put into law, after all, it was the will of the people. That never needed to happen, not legally binding. But then there would be cries that 'its not democratic'. There would be uproar.

The Irish passport is the most powerful in the EU. You can live and work anywhere in the EU or the UK.

I understand why they did it. However, it does seem a tad cheeky.

It's unreasonable of them, but it would be impossible to prove how anybody voted so I don't think there's really any way of policing this.

I think this is the really shitteous type, a Brexiteer and Boris fan grabbing the Irish passport, all the while supporting those particularly loathsome Tories who were berating Ireland for not supporting GB in the matter, actually saying Ireland owed allegiance to GB out of ‘historical gratitude’!
Why, even Priti ‘Vacant’ Patel, showing a firm grasp of history, proposed that GB literally starve Ireland into submission over Brexit.

it’s interesting how many are so angry at voters yet never towards the mp’s that actually voted to have the referendum with so little thought so little debate (basically not bothering doing their job representing their constituents best interests) had they and even with the voting being the same result it could have been very different to what it is now

I have Irish cousins in the UK who voted for Brexit to ‘fuck the Brits’ and because they don’t like the immigrants in the UK - unbelievable…..
My sibling also voted for Brexit and then boasted about his Irish passport on FB (omitting to mention his Brexit vote).
Some people (especially in my family) are just shitty.

Entitlement to a passport should not be dependent on political views! That's dictatorship talk.

I know someone that did this. Voted for Brexit then applied for her Irish passport. Brags about it shamelessly. Makes me furious. The hypocrisy is staggering. To be expected from a Brexit voter though. Completely self serving.

It’s a bit rich though isn’t it. Voting for something that imposes restrictions on people knowing that they won’t be affected

I have cousins born in Ireland, moved to England as kids, tell everyone they are Irish and still voted for Brexit. I do not have any relationship with them anymore. Morons.

It can make travel much easier . One of my sons was stuck in a corridor in Frankfurt Airport for ages and was close to missing his connecting flight. At length an announcement - ' EU passport holders come forward' . Cue groans from British and American travellers.

But it's biggest impact is on people who want to work , study or retire in the EU of course
