I decided that it was fundamentally against my nature as a good and moral person to potentially offend the decent folks of this Island who might still feel attachment to the place so, despite agreeing with the sentiment wholeheartedly, I made a choice to erase the post.

Ok well in that case we have no nation. So there's no obligation to pay tax to house and support the people coming in. And we need to defend our own houses. Luckily I have several guns.

And would that be any worse than people coming here who don't speak English? And they seem more than willing to do that. Maybe if they realise it's a temporary thing they can teach their kids their home language 🤔

If someone wants to come to this Island we have no right to turn them back or stop them. This isn’t our land, the earth belongs to all of us. People should be free to come and go as they please, that’s called freedom.

Are you suggesting we have no border in this country? And no means of stopping invaders?

Because if that's the case shouldn't the government be doing something? Involving the navy?

What are your suggestions for stopping the boats coming across? They're leaving from a foreign country, the UK govt has no powers to stop them leaving.

50,000 people is the population of a medium sized town.
Are we building a medium sized town every year?
Are we building schools and GP surgeries to service these new towns?
Are we employing more multi-lingual teachers to staff the new schools?
Are we employing new council workers?
And where will we put the medium-sized towns?

The UK is one of the best countries in the world. (Despite successive governments trying to wreck it).Which is why so many people are trying to get here.

That was more than enough to make me despise this country. Fortunately I have Irish heritage in my family so I am rather taken with calling myself Irish these days ☘️

I think she means the general gaslighting that the UK population has been subject to over the last few decades about immigration being a good thing. Its a relief that most people have finally now woken up.

To be clear, I dont think that there's nothing to see here, just a lot more nuance to it. So youre either misunderstanding what I'm posting or deliberately misrepresenting it in order to disagree with something I haven't said.

Afran – not his real name – hit the headlines when he became the first asylum seeker to return to the UK in a small boat after being removed to France under the controversial “one in, one out” scheme on 19 September. He was sent back to Paris for the second time on 5 November.

The smugglers in northern France attacked me and threatened my life before I crossed to the UK for the first time on August 6. Labour have to listen to the country, I also think what is not discussed is the legal machine which is flogging our Courts and making a mockery of the justice system. We are inherently a kind tolerate country who welcomes genuine asylum seekers. We need to return all arrivals to their country and ask them to apply through legal routes.

There is evidence to counter the idea that the majority of migrants post Brexit are net takers. Hence my reference to HMRC data.

We don't have open borders. That's a rhetorical exaggeration. I suppose that sone people mistakenly thought "control" meant the same as reduce with respect to migration.

The OP was raising the issue of policy around asylum and this never seems to be discussed without bringing in the far larger numbers of legal migration over which we have complete control.

I know a lot of actual refugees, which you obviously don’t.
