How long is this building work likely to go on for?

Will they park there again!??

It's a kitchen refurb I think, so a week or two. If they park there again I'll have to order some fake parking tickets from t'internet.

Very disrespectful of you OP to not name the cats, tortoise and rabbit.

The cats are mostly known as my cat, NDN cat, my cat's girlfriend, that big fluffy one, the ginger one, the thieving one and other such non-specific names. The rabbit is called Coco. It's supposed to be a house rabbit but doesn't know that and escapes to nibble everyone's front lawns. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to have come across the cats yet. I can't remember the tortoise's name but the WhatsApp group is sometimes rallied to go and turn it back over when its owners are out and spot it waving its legs helplessly on the tortoise cam.

I really hope the van has gone using the other exit and left OP blocking the exit looking like a total idiot.

I have returned (2037 Zulu for those interested in the exact timing of my movements) and bring with me a photo of the nasty metal sticky-out thing. You're welcome. It doesn't look like much but it opened up the side of my car before last like a tin opener when I misjudged the turn one night.

I now consider myself an expert at the 100-point turn and can do it in 5, or 7 if I 🦆 it up. It's very tight and extremely unforgiving.

You're being a dick OP. You've said yourself that there was nowhere else to park. They moved their van without issue, they are working in the house right next to where they are parked. They will be in and out of their van all day getting tools, materials etc which will be heavy. I hope they block you in every day just for lols.

If there is "nowhere else to park", there is just 'nowhere to park at all". Access road isn't a parking space.
They could stop for a minute, unload the heavy things and park the van somewhere further away. Keeping it there is CF.

Could they park in front of the garage belonging to the house being renovated. I’ll opn the wine 🍷

I can't believe some of the posters on here. They are obviously parking thread virgins. Don't they realise that the whole point is for the CF parkers to be far more inconvenienced than their effort-saving shenanigans would have been worth. A house down the road is having some work done and the workmen have parked their van blocking the access road to 40-odd garages. I nicely asked them to move it this morning so I could get out, which they did without and hassle. I came back and they were there again! On-street parking is a nightmare and there were no other spaces so I've blocked them in. I'm several houses down and am in now until 2-ish. There is technically another exit but it's a right pain to get to, so they can try doing a 100-point turn if they like...

All you had to say was I shall need to get back in and other people will be needing to come and go as well.

No need for all this just explain the garage entrance needs to be left clear.

I don't understand people defending the driver.
If there is "nowhere else to park", than there is just nowhere to park at all, blocking the access road to people's garages isn't a solution.

I'd understand stopping for a few minutes to unload the tools and than parking further away, but blocking the road and expecting people to come and 'ask nicely' is really stupid.

Presumably if the builder hadnt blocked the access road some of the people parked on the road would have been in their garages. I'm not clear if access to the garages is from the track or there is some space between the garages and the houses. The builder could park down the dead end if no space on the road then he would only block one or two garages.

I don't see why I should have to take a 10-minute detour and risk my car getting damaged on a badly-maintained track just to make van man's life easier TBH. There is on-street parking available and he should use it like every other workman does when working on other houses up and down the road.

But you said there weren't any on street places to park which is why you blocked them in.

I don't understand how it is ok for you to also block access in and out for neighbours (as well as can man) because you say they can use the other entrance/exit - while you are not willing to use the other entrance/exit.
