and not telling anyone, even my husband?

Is anyone else in this boat?

I've just ordered them today. My husband is dead against them. Work colleagues would probably be supportive though as half of them are on it.

I've tried everything to lose weight but food is just a crutch for me. I'm much better than I used to be but I'm a sugar addict and struggle with portion control. I've got a lot of trauma from having food restricted as a kid. As an adult I've dealt with the mental health side but just cannot lose the weight! I have tried literally every single diet you can think of. I've had a PT. I go to the gym regularly and walk the dog and play with my children. I just cannot lose the weight... It's either this or WLS...

I'm 5 stone overweight and miserable about my body and just want to change.

OP posts:

Your body, your choice. Absolutely no judgement from me at all. I would tell my husband though - he can be against them all he likes but your doing something to help you loose weight to be healthy. This is your choice, not his.

chakademusandplier · 08/11/2025 08:09

DO IT OP and good luck!

I get botox despite my husband lovingly telling me I dont need it (yeah because I get botox lmao) and he's never noticed once.

I do it for me, and I use my own money.

I would do it, not tell anyone and maybe once it had been successful I might share the real reason, that way noone can go on about how it might not work etc.

It just feels weird to keep a secret from someone who we share our life with. Also two people I know collapsed from kidney issues and thankfully their husbands could tell paramedics what was wrong.

Didn’t one of them already have kidney issues and the other an eating disorder or something? I’m sure I’ve seen this story before.

jaromoun · 08/11/2025 08:08

i don’t have a partner but i did tell my daughter i was on them in case i had any adverse reactions. my GP knows as i think it’s important from a prescribing POV for other conditions. i also tell anyone delivering healthcare as that is also vital particularly for surgery and anaesthesia.
i’ve told absolutely no one else though despite being directly asked or it being presumed.
i usually respond saying would you ask if i was on anti depressants if my mood changed? that shuts people up!
i think there is a deeper issue in that you can’t tell your husband due to his views. i would also suggest caution around your mental health. the very fact that WLI make you physically unable to overeat and portion size can dramatically reduce may trigger issues around the childhood neglect you experienced. it may not but having some awareness and a bit of a friendly on looker aware might be useful. i hope that isn’t the case for you and you achieve your goal. i’ve lost 3 stone and i’m on maintenance now and it’s the best thing i’ve ever done for my appearance and self esteem. come join folk on the WLI pages as everyone is supportive and kind and full of good tips and hints (i’m forever grateful for learning about the golden dose there)

What’s the evidence on pancreatic cancer with these jabs?

There's no way (two?) random husbands diagnosed specific kidney issues just by looking at their wives when they (both?) happened to collapse, but paramedics wouldn't notice 'what was wrong' or know how to respond to to the issue in front of them.

Rosebud987 · 08/11/2025 08:02

Nobody knows I’ve been on them except my best friend. Everybody else thinks I’ve been calorie counting. I keep them under the veg drawer in the fridge. I’m 7 stone down and at target now. I started them in February. Good luck!

Tell whoever you want to tell, if you don’t want to tell you DH that’s fine too!! Who cares if everyone assumes you are using them. You are taking a step in making yourself healthier for you and your kids and that should be applauded. I used MJ from Jan-Jun to help shed my post baby weight and it was amazing for me. I’ve managed to maintain off them but also wouldn’t hesitate to use it again if I needed to! One thing I will say is just make sure you are doing all the other work into loosing weight, cleaning up your diet and exercising (even walking). Also don’t feel forced to move up the pen strengths, I stayed on 2.5 the whole time with success.

ownturmericgrower · 08/11/2025 07:32

Tell at least 2 people who are close to you in case you take an adverse reaction and need medical treatment

TigTails · 08/11/2025 07:29

I think your husband wants you to stay fat because if you lose weight you might leave him. 👀

Also, so long as your GP is aware you’re taking them and it’s accurately recorded on your medical records this should be enough provision for any emergency situations.

Fountofwisdom · 08/11/2025 07:27

I’ve been on Mounjaro since January and haven’t told anyone. I’ve lost over 4 stone and am thrilled. Others have obviously noticed my weight loss and a couple of family members have tried to interrogate me about how I’ve done it but I have kept schtum. It’s your private medical business, and no one has a right to know, any more than they would have a right to know about any medication you take.

I have informed my GP, so it is on my medical notes should I ever have an adverse reaction but have had no issues in nearly a year of using it.

XWKD · 08/11/2025 07:27

It's nobody's business.

redbirdblackbird · 08/11/2025 07:22

Hi, I did this, lost three stone and didn’t tell anyone. However I then became really ill and was hospitalised for a week. I obviously had to tell all the medical staff so my husband found out as well. He was upset I felt unable to tell him in the first place and I felt really bad

This thread worries me a bit as I am planning to start MJ soon and will not be telling anyone. I am single and live alone. The only people I could tell would be my mum or sister and neither would be supportive. I have told my GP though, so surely it's on my record if anything happens?

What on earth do you mean “if anything happens”?

in any event event, if it’s successful - people will assume WLI

Mondaytuesdayhappydays · 08/11/2025 07:05

So long as it’s not out the family pot and ‘your own’ money, which would if course need a discussion then I would t worry about telling anyone
they will all know anyway xx

Glitchymn1 · 08/11/2025 07:03

So he’s not going to know when you stop eating and lose stones of weight very quickly?

24252627a · 08/11/2025 06:58

Not unreasonable at au to keep it secret. However the results from w l injections can be dramatic, so people might secretly be thinking you are on the injections 😬

I know someone who has lost a huge amount of weight recently, but didn’t disclose anything- but I’m sure (don’t want to say suspicious) she must be on the injections.

Nightlight8 · 08/11/2025 06:43

Is your DH naturally slim so won't understand? I think I would not go out of my way to actively lie if he asked you if you was taking the jab I would say yes. However I would just keep quiet for now and continue.

it’s so obvious when someone is on the jabs… rapid weight loss all of a sudden, face changes that are a total giveaway.

It’s your body @ravingandbehaving .. your decision… tell your husband you know he doesn’t like them but you’re miserable and doing them…whether he likes it or not.

Then you don’t need to worry about being secretive.

Iamfree · 08/11/2025 06:16

When I see people who’ve struggled to lose weight suddenly 3-4-5 stones lighter I immediately think WLI (as most others). At the same time it’s none of my business. I would probably tell my partner but we tell each other most things and I wouldn’t see a reason to lie. Do what you deem appropriate and don’t worry about anyone. Tell him in 2-3 months or so when you see if you’re getting results. And good luck

Ijustwaited · 08/11/2025 05:42

Whenever I see a big weight loss in someone in a short period of time - these days I just automatically assume they’re on WLI.

I don’t judge in the slightest. Indifferent. But certainly that’s my fleeting assumption and then I give zero fucks

Ijustwaited · 08/11/2025 05:40

If they are successful, then OP - people will know your “secret”

if they aren’t successful, then no one will ever suspect

noonames · 08/11/2025 05:38

I’ve been on MJ for 16 months and not told anyone including DH. I just could not be doing with managing other people’s opinions and concerns, or justifying spending my own money to improve my health. I have lost around 6 stone but not particularly quickly, he knew I was trying to lose weight and I’ve just eaten in the same way as when I’ve dieted before, only more consistently. No side effects to speak of, and I keep pens in a mini fridge in my study where he never goes. I’m happy to keep my medical information private and be solely responsible for my health, and I really wouldn’t mind if he did the same.
