Boyfriend sent me a video

sillyme1234 · 31/10/2025 00:02

I've started to date a new guy (he's not my boyfriend) and he sent me a video which was supposed to be taken at 6am in the morning (he sent it late afternoon).

It was taken when he was in bed (no not sexual) and what caught my eye is that it was light outaide. The light was shining on the TV screen in his room. He has those office type blinds vertical style.

The video was black and white in style, so it wasn't bright in the room, I just find it bizarre the winwod were so bright.

He stated his son woke him up at 6am and he took a video of him singing. I just found it weird the windows looked so bright.

Is it really bright at 6am? I thought it wasn't bright until 7ish.

(He is staying he's tired from being up early etc and can't meet, which is fine but it looks so bright outside that I instantly thought the video wasnt taken at night. I've just got a feeling it's not quite right)

Anyone up at 6am and van confirm on the room brightness

Why do you care about room brightness? He sent you a video of him singing. You're analysing shafts of light on wallpaper...

It wasn't him singing. Read the OP properly.

What's the point being in a relationship where you don't trust the person to the extent that you're scrutinising the lighting in videos he sends you? Like... Just leave?

Was taken Sunday or Monday.

Bloke dodged a bullet by the sound of it. Good for him.

Living in London. Not according to Google but generally once absolute darkness lifts here: penetrating light wakes my kid without a true blackout blind by 6:15 ish daily this week (was 5 am ish in previous weeks).

Thank you

Can you be bothered? I couldn’t be.

Surely anyone who is on Mumsnet is far too grown up to be analysing the light in videos to check if men are lying. Surely.

What.... I saw something that wasn't quite right, I have a feeling I can't shrug of. Just need confirmation

Can you read?

Zanatdy · 31/10/2025 09:16

I’m always up early and take the dog out at 6.30am daily and need the head torch. Though i’m away on holiday since before clocks changed so not sure now what time its light

Devilsmommy · 31/10/2025 09:16

sillyme1234 · 31/10/2025 09:13

Yes I think he does.

Then I'd dump his ass because when they lie about trivial shit like that you're constantly wondering how many big lies they're telling. My twat ex was exactly the same and it's so fucking pointless some of the things he lied about. And then the way they actually seem to believe their own bullshit🤨 chuck him back, liars are not worth the headspace

Waitingforaprick · 31/10/2025 09:15

Just check the properties of the video. The time and date it was taken will be there.

jenny38 · 31/10/2025 09:15

Did it not occur to you he might have been to for awhile before taking the video. I might quite easily say- been up since 6am- listen to this... not actually meaning video taken at 6.

Toydrum · 31/10/2025 09:14

sillyme1234 · 31/10/2025 09:13

Yes I think he does.

What will you do about that then? It’s not good is it.

sillyme1234 · 31/10/2025 09:13

Devilsmommy · 31/10/2025 09:12

It's definitely not light at 6am so he was obviously bullshitting about when it was taken. The question is does he lie about ridiculously trivial shit a lot?

Yes I think he does.

Sunrise tomorrow is at 7:07 so yes at 6am, it’d still be dark outside. However if the video was taken a week ago before the clocks went back, at 6am it’d probably have been lighter outside.

WatchingTheDetective · 31/10/2025 07:30

I would just reply with, I thought you were living in London, it's not light there at 6 am!

Cinnamon77 · 31/10/2025 07:22

The much bigger lie is you saying he's your boyfriend and then admitting he's not your boyfriend.

MinglyMadly · 31/10/2025 07:18

Checkcheckout · 31/10/2025 00:13

I can confirm having let my dog out for a piss at 6.30am that it’s still pretty dark. Not bright anyway! Is it the lying that’s the issue OP? That would piss me off too, I can’t stand liars.

Yes - this.

Almost2026 · 31/10/2025 07:13

Just had a look at the motion triggers on our camera. When DS left for work at 5:15 it was dark, when DH left at 6:30 it was light. I CBA to go look at the whole footage to see when that changed. We also have a cat that triggers the security light over the road on and off all night which would likely show as light on a black and white video.

Irrelevant to any of the above, if you are over thinking this stuff or get an off feeling, chuck this one back.

rwalker · 31/10/2025 07:13

There’s a street light right outside my front bedroom it it would appear light outside at any time of day and night

also you said he’s sent it in a black and white style so I presume he’s used a filter so it would enhance/change the light

all that aside that level of scrutiny sounds like your looking too hard to catch him out

Dollymylove · 31/10/2025 07:04

You sound a bit obsessive ans slightly stalkery OP.
If I were him Id be off like a rocket

Pricelessadvice · 31/10/2025 07:02

In answer to your question, it’s dark outside at 6am (I have horses, so I’m an early riser)

Having dated a serial liar, who’s little white lies were just completely out of control to the point that I couldn’t believe a word that came out of his mouth, I get it OP.

Trentdarkmore · 31/10/2025 07:02

He could have just turned the brightness up so you could see it more clearly?
