To be surprised Andrew has lost his Prince title

I certainly think this is absolutely the right decision. But this has all been swept under the carpet for a long time with the usual head in the sand approach. If makes me think there might be more to come out. This wasn't just going to go away.

Yes it's a move to sweep the whole thing under the carpet.

Seems to be the alternative to accountability for some is a change of name and address !

honeylulu · 31/10/2025 08:25

Someone is born a prince, its not an appointed role so I dont see how that can or should have been removed

I am sure being born a Prince in the UK is a legal status and an Act of Parliament would be needed to remove it. So it's more likely that Charles has ordered Andrew to stop using his Prince title rather than actually legally removing it which would surely be a lengthy and complex process.

Prince Edward's children were born Prince and Princess and are legally entitled to the title but have never used them, instead being styled as a Lady and a Viscount. What I'm trying to say is that it's not compulsory to style oneself as a Prince just because one is legally a Prince. So it's probably a similar thing to say he will now be known as (Mr) Mountbatten Windsor instead.

Yes - this is the core of it .

Will the police interview Andrew ?

Will a debate be allowed among MPs about how the Windsors exploit their position financially?

If the answer is no to either those questions then this is more ‘above the law’ bullshit and people clapping thinking this is ‘strong action’ are fools

Needs all
his devices checked too I think

To be honest I’d rather he had kept his title of Prince and been arrested and charged instead. Absolute joke that removal of a title seems to be an option instead of actual punishment for a crime.

As the late Queen's favourite son I think she had a blind spot and hoped the problem would disappear. Now Charles is head, with William not far behind, they clearly do not think along the same lines. Add on Camilla publicly supporting charities which address violence against women the whole situation was inevitable.

I thought if you were born a Prince, that was it.
I mean, Prince has effed up big time, would a Doctor also cease being a Doctor? Just thinking it over, for what it's worth. The King definitely can
(and did) take his brother's title away.

Well a doctor would lose their registration so they wouldnt be a doctor

A doctor PHD doctor would still be a doctor

Someone is born a prince, its not an appointed role so I dont see how that can or should have been removed

You can still be a prince and be banished, have no public role, be seen as irrelevant.

Personally it makes no sense and is just a modern thing of 'having to do something' when the other things do make more sense, he was nothing to do with public life any more, his other titles which were appointed to him were given up, he wasnt part of the fold any more.

He hasnt been convicted of anything and for people saying, he could have gone to court, on what? What was he charged with exactly? What court?

Is very odd, didn't even know it was possible to take away the prince title. He was born into it and just signifies his mum was a queen. I don't think anyone was even asking for it to be removed, just the honorary titles? And seeing as he's not actually been found guilty of any crime, some might say even that's a bit too far (not me, I think he's an obnoxious little shit and deserves everything he gets). It suggests that the royal titles are all a bit meaningless if they can be given or taken on a whim, which isn't a great look for the monarchy; a bit like they're all just in a weird club where they grant each other nicknames, like little children forming a 'gang'! So I presume there must be something more going on for Charles to have gone this far...

I think it just proves what a colossal joke the whole thing is that they can move the goalposts whenever it suits them in order to “ protect the crown” for another couple of decades. One day, and I hope it’s soon, they’re going to run out of public goodwill and their overlong reign will finally end.

dudsville · 31/10/2025 07:44

This just irritates me. I couldn't care less if he's a prince or not, to my mind that's a made up status based on a notion of power I don't agree with. Investigate him, let the law decide if he's guilty of something. If he's deemed guilty, let him get that verdict whilst having a silly title of prince. What's important is the investigation, and if the royal family have some protection against legal proceedings because of their blood line, then this needs to be discussed and changed.

Its just words though. He's still on the Line of Succession.

He's so far down the line now that it would be a waste of time and money to remove him formally. It's incredibly unlikely that William, George, Charlotte, Louis, Harry, Archie and Lilibet will all die or decline the throne before Andrew dies.

I was wondering about the the line of succession. But I think Beatrice and Eugenie would need to be removed too if he was. Like Edward Viii 'heirs and successors' even though he had none.

I’m also waiting on more to come out on the ‘Prince of Darkness’, he’s an odious pos and I would like to see him sent down.

Do you think either he or Sarah will appear on Strictly next year? Or the celeb jungle?

I think his move to the Sandringham estate and any financial help going forward will have been agreed based on no reality tv, no interviews, no books etc.

It will be interesting to see what she does. She did heavily imply that she was the breadwinner of the pair in recent years so maybe she's hoping for a Budgie the little helicopter revival!

It’s a pretty bold, historic move. When was the last time the child of a monarch had their hereditary title removed? Only ones I can think of are Henry VIII’s children but I am not a historian…

But that was because of " concerns" of legitimacy, not behaviour
I don't see how Prince can be removed as that is what he is, son of a past monarch. Just shows what a farce all this royal palaver is.

LidlAmaretto · 31/10/2025 04:23

Why is it that every time a serious journalist has a proper dig in to the activities of the RF, dubious things are found? Put simply, why is it necessary for our Head of State in 2025, in a supposed democracy, to operate behind such a thick wall of secrecy? What else are they hiding?
Well quite. You would think that a famiy who were so privileged, and through no effort of their own would at least behave in a proper manner.

The outrage is too big and can’t be stopped.
And I think it was in a way a self preservation act on Palace’s side.

Definitely. They are hoping to cut the rot off as it were at the root. I’m not sure it’s possible though because Andrew’s activities were known about years ago, Both the sexual wrongdoings, and the alleged corruption.

It’s alleged by Lownie that documented proof was brought by credible sources to the late Queen E2 and it was ignored. A large sum of money was paid so that Andrew didn’t have to face a day in court. The trade envoy papers are unable to be examined publically, even though the British tax payer supported Andrew’s activities abroad.

What I want to know is, if the Epstein case hadn’t come to light publically, would the RF still be sitting on Andrew’s wrongdoings and covering them up?

Bumblebee72 · 31/10/2025 03:11

I can't imagine this will be the end for the Royal Family. How long has Charles believed that Andrew was a paedophile, and tried to cover it up? It is time that the whole lot of them went. We don't need one family to be given so much privilege because a fictional god says so.

Im surprised he lost his Prince title, too, but I think it’s good the King took such decisive action now.

Harry had better watch his behaviour now this precedent has been set!

Yeah, raping trafficked teenagers on a sex island is TOTALLY comparable with marrying a non-white woman and deciding the royal way of life is bullshit.

are you ok??

Personally I think Princess Anne should've been made Queen instead of Charles as King.
I think she'd do a better job!

If you accept a Monarchy you accept the eldest child of the eldest child will be monarch, like it or not. Unless the Monarch is a secret traitor, in which case you find a convenient ( commoner) woman to pin it on when you have to get rid, and hide the fact that the family ' born to rule' has yet again produced an unsuitable person to be Head of State for about 100 years. If youre going to pick and choose it makes no sense to have a pool of 2,3,4 people to choose from.

Trial by media is extremely unattractive as well as being undemocratic.
All allegations were and continue to be denied.
Two of the protagonists are dead.
The UK is in a mess, so why not try American diversion tactics to draw public attention away from the real issues and the imminent budget?
The whole thing is suspect.
If there were any real, tangible evidence, other than heresay, there might be a case to be made, but for what now?
Read Andrew Lownie's book, there is nothing new in it that has not been reported by the press in the past. There is also a very glaring error, that nobody has mentioned, but is easily verifiable. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were not bridesmaids for the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh in 1999. If you make such an assertion, that is easily checked, why should anyone believe anything else you write?
Sh*t stirring.

Edited

Except the diversionary tactics are intended to keep the RF safe from scruitiny. The budget will be all over the papers. It is debated in Parliament. As if stripping titles, and with them the entire fiction of people being born to rule is being used to divert from a twice yearly event!

@Vaxtable
Andrew swore he’d help the police and FBI and there was nothing stopping him going to court . Yet he did nothing of the sort .

Re the fuss over this announcement my first thought is , why now?

Does this statement from Charles mean the House of Commons will not now be debating and examining the rest of the Windsors and the Crown estate?

if so then it is nothing to celebrate.
It’s more cover ups

Edited

Yes. I bet they have acted sharpish now because of the wider risk of Parliament being forced to debate their wider finances. Despite passing the buck and handwringing about how difficult it was when actually it didnt seem that difficult at all. He can still evade his day in court and can still evade the FBI so ' innocent until proven guilty only goes so far.
