To share the news that dd will be on TV tomorrow night! Eek!

Dd wants to be an artist and is taking part in Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year! This was filmed back in Easter during her school holidays and is being aired tomorrow night. It's terrifying! If you enjoy art, or tv or have a kid and know what it's like to want everything to go well for them, please join me in hoping the judges aren't too mean! www.rubymitcham.com

Ah how wonderful. She is very talented and her work is beautiful - so well observed and executed.
I paint (self-taught) and not portraits and she is a million times better than me.
I hope she enjoyed doing the show - I’m sure it was stressful but I expect she did fantastic work. She has a bright future in art!

@My3dahliasarebloominlovely It was honestly a super day. The whole experience was a bit surreal but the crew were amazing at looking after all the artists and it was pretty exciting.

How old was she when you discovered how amazing she is OP. And what was that drawing of? It’s clear she loves capturing the essence of people.

We always thought she was amazing!!!! But in terms of art, she didn't try oils until she was 15 and the first painting she did was 'I love dad and dad loves me'. You can see it on her website. I think we knew then.

So Sky advertise it as 8pm, but really the schedule shows it being available earlier in the day. We're going to watch it at 8 with friends.

If you have a Smart tv with aerial, you'll have Freeview. For us to see it, we press 'source' on the remote to move from streaming to tv, and then just scroll to channel 11. If you have a box, you should get Freeview. It's also shown on Now TV, if that helps anyone.

Thank you. I have discovered I can download the NOW app to my iPad and firestick and join NOW for a decent price. So for anyone else with these devices, it’s possible.

OMG - that's so cool! I wish I knew what you looked like 😂I didn't chat to too many people, as it was quite nerve-wracking as a parent (and I didn't even need to paint anything or talk to judges and presenters and producers!) Dh was a bit more chatty but he thinks there's a good chance the episode could just be about a very stressed dad!

@FriendlyLaundryMonster Apologies think i have the wrong episode, I hadnt realised the series had started. We were at the Yungblud episode and spoke to the young girl's mother in that!
I have been to the filming the last 3 years and it's such a great day.
