Opinion on a 50 year old woman and 18 year old man?

I am 40 and I have been with a 19 year old.

I dont know how i feel about it. I mistakenly thought he was older than he was.

Definitely more common with creepy older men. I do know of one with an older woman though. 19 year old man and 44 year old woman. He was her sons best friend! Then there's Macron the french president and his wife, he was 15 and she was his teacher in her 40s when it started I believe.

Everyone in the book clubs, male and female, can't think of any school friends, colleagues, relatives that were actually part of the young male older female trope. We just couldn't and we are a fairly worldy, honest bunch, happy to anonoymise.
On the contrast we all had young women and men stories with older men. Hit on, ONS and longer relationships. Bonking Barry the builder, then 40ish, who used to pick up my mate in her uniform from outside the school, she wishes you'd been a bit younger because 30 years later she wants a porch on her house ( not a euphemism)

Weird. At my uni, we thought it was too young even if a 20 -21 year old dated guy who was 18. Most of them haven't even stopped growing yet, and that is very evident if you've ever lived in an area with a high student population.

I had a brief fling with a man in his mid 40s when I was 18. It was fun, nothing serious at all though, just sex and a few date nights type thing.

Honestly, I think we both found the age gap exciting and taboo.

I look back on it now with no regrets, I don't feel I was taken advantage of at all, and it was very much something I was happy to do.

However I also now look at 18 year old girls and it feels insane to me in a way as they still seem so young. But I know how I felt at the time. I would drive myself to his house, no alcohol or drugs involved etc. I can't have been that much of an outlier - there will be other young people at that age who are happy about having sex with older people, like I was.

I definitely wouldn't have wanted a relationship with him though, although I did properly date some older men, that gap was too much, and we would have struggled to find enough in common to sustain any form of real partnership.

I would assume some sort of imbalance of power. I say that as someone who used to be friends with someone who dated a 19yr old in his late 40s, we are not friends any more. Much later on she came to me to tell me just how messed up he had left her and that she felt vulnerable, one of the crooks of the relationship was him paying for things expecting sex in return. At first him spending money on her was nice and then it wasn't. She's had a lot of help to get her life back on track.
