What do you think about a 50 year old woman having sex with an 18 year old? weird or okay?

This would frankly be a ridiculous law.

That would mean a 26 year old and a 40 year old would become an illegal pairing. For that matter, so would a 26 year old and a 19 year old. See also a 50 year old and a 31 year old. See again 45 and 28 years

You may not like any of these age gaps, but to think it should hold the same weight in law as it currently does to have sex with a 15 year old is plainly absurd.

It should not "hold the same weight in law as it currently does to have sex with a 15 year old". But it should still be illegal. As it is inappropriate.

TrishM80 · 21/10/2025 22:14

To answer the original question, I'd find it grim and pathetic.

I don't think it's particularly widespread, but there is the phenomenon especially in the US of female teachers having sex with schoolboys, some of them extremely young.

beyond grim - 18 is a baby compared to 50 yo 🤮

Go on reddit, tons of stories about older women and teens. Ask men, lot will tell you on internet their experiences. In real life they might lie, especially to a woman.

Stats say 20 percent of pedos are women too.

Link?

Half your age plus 7 is the rule (and it should be the law). So a 50 year old woman should not be having sex with anyone younger than 32. And an 18 year old man should not be having sex with anyone older than 22.

This would frankly be a ridiculous law.

I would assume some sort of imbalance of power. I say that as someone who used to be friends with someone who dated a 19yr old in his late 40s, we are not friends any more. Much later on she came to me to tell me just how messed up he had left her and that she felt vulnerable, one of the crooks of the relationship was him paying for things expecting sex in return. At first him spending money on her was nice and then it wasn't. She's had a lot of help to get her life back on track.

Edited

There's always an imbalance, or rather multiple imbalances, in any sort of relationship.

That doesn't mean to say that its necessarily abusive.

As for your friend, I obviously feel for her, but since we can never run the experiment where they didn't have the relationship it's hard to know how much the relationship messed with her versus how much she was already messed up versus how much she was messed up by her choice to be (hate the term) a sugar baby for a while versus how she was truly in love and was dumped.

At some point we have to take responsibility for the choices we make and legal adulthood would seem to be that watershed.

I can't handle the constant refrain of 16-21 are perfectly capable and fully rational when it's stuff they feel excluded from, but 18-25 are vulnerable and should be protected when it comes to bad choices they make.

Incidentally, the counter-argument might come from your one-time friend that (genuinely) he feels used because he thought it was love and feels conned after spending loads of money. Doubt he'd be getting much sympathy from most people though.

So, your anecdote is interesting, but not illuminating unless we hear both stories.

Sosickofarrogance · 21/10/2025 18:33

The only time I could understand this at all, is if the woman looked around forty or younger and he looked much older. Even then, I would expect a horrified shreik and an apology on finding out!

The age 17. If you are a girl, regardless of if you are becoming interested in S.e.x. or not, the mere fact that you are 17 appears to be like a bat signal to a certain type of bloke.

Because 17

In dd's case it was 10. She is tall but quite clearly a child.
Very grim.

MasculineProviderEnergy · 21/10/2025 16:29

"Really? girls manipulating old men for money and blackmailing them is common and well known"

"LOL you think an 18 year old can take advantage of a 50 year old?"

These two statements you made sort of contradict each other.

In anwer to your Q, I'm mid 50s and not attracted to teenagers. None of the women i know are either, or perhaps they've been furtively posting on reddit about it 🤔

Its a myth perpetuated by hollywood. I hate tge term cougar. Mens fantasies, not womens.

Not true, tons of women like teen boys, that's why it happens so often and is used in movies too.Women are no different to men in their attraction towards the young.

Womenare no different to men in their attraction towards the young.

Except they are. The vast majority of paedophiles are men.

The voting on your thread should tell you something. If you asked a male dominated forum ‘What do you think about a 50 year old man having sex with an 18 year old girl? weird or okay?’, you wouldn’t get such a high percentage of people telling you it’s not ok.

IcedPurple · 21/10/2025 16:23

LeanToWhatToDo · 21/10/2025 16:17

It still is a thing for teenaged girls sadly. There was a thread about how public libraries are practically no go areas for them now. I see men staring at mine every time we walk through town. I know I don't even notice teen boys unless they block my way or are being noisy in town. I certainly don't look at them in a sexual way. Girls still get harassed for sex more frequently when they are wearing school uniform.

That's grim, but sadly not surprising.

As any who has ever been a teenaged girl knows, it's far from unusual for men to perve over them. Very few teenaged boys have had the same experience with women. It just doesn't happen on anything like the same scale, and it's insulting to women and girls to pretend that it does.

I copied and pasted this from the internet.
"Cheryl and Quran first met in 2012 when he was 15 and she managed a fast-food restaurant where he worked. They reconnected romantically much later, on November 4, 2020, after seeing each other working at a convenience store."

They are now married.

Benefits couple thank taxpayers for wedding day

A couple who appeared on Channel 5's Can't Work, Won't Work have thanked taxpayers after using their benefits to pay for the wedding.

Back in the mists of time when I was a teenager, it was just taken for granted that you'd be perved over by older men. We'd warn each other to look out for these men walking home from school, waiting for the bus, in the swimming pool, everywhere. It was just how life was for young girls. Probably still is, though perhaps it's no longer regarded as 'just the way things are' anymore. At least I hope not.

How many men look back on when they were teenagers and used to warn each other about that pervy middle aged woman who hung around waiting for the boys to be let out of school every day? I'm guessing zero.

This was the subject of Ian mcwwans novel Lessons and the booker prize listed Flesh by David Szalay.
Everyone in the book clubs, male and female, can't think of any school friends, colleagues, relatives that were actually part of the young male older female trope. We just couldn't and we are a fairly worldy, honest bunch, happy to anonoymise.
On the contrast we all had young women and men stories with older men. Hit on, ONS and longer relationships. Bonking Barry the builder, then 40ish, who used to pick up my mate in her uniform from outside the school, she wishes you'd been a bit younger because 30 years later she wants a porch on her house ( not a euphemism)
