To date a 28yo?

Last week I went on a night out with some work colleagues. I got a bit tipsy and ended up flirting with one of my colleagues who is 28! We ended up kissing. The next day I just put it down to an embarrassing event and pretended like it never happened.

We were in a meeting together today and later this afternoon he text me and asked if I wanted to go for a drink. I didn't respond and a bit later he messaged me saying he meant like on a date.

I shouldn't should I? He's just so young.

We're both single, I'm not looking for a serious relationship and I suspect he isn't either (he was previously in a very long term relationship with 2 kids).

There's no concern about dating someone I work with, my issue is purely the age gap.

FFS op go for it go have some no strings attached fun.
Lifes to short who gives a crap your both adults both single.
If it just ends a 1 night thing so what shit happens move on.
To many pearl clutchers on hear some need to live not just survive.
Just tell your self your memories for when you end up in the rocking chair something to look back on and say yep i live and i dont give a fuck.

Within the region of similar age range... If say someone has a 22-24yr old. It's not unreasonable to think they be less than chuffed if their parent started dating someone 4-6yrs older than them 🙄

Agreed , but we’re after establishing that’s not applicable to OP

How would she have kids near his age 🙄
He’s 28 not 18 , & OP is 42

To be fair, if I'd had kids at the age he did, I'd have a 24yo!

Yeah that’s true actually 😂 , but you didn’t so it’s fine 😊

Are you in a senior position at work to him?
Do you think there would be potential fall out if it went tits up?
Can you handle the workplace gossip if it gets out?
Do you have kids near his age?

If none of the above apply then sure why not?

No, we're in different specialities and not in the same management line.

Not sure on fall out, I can't see there being any. He seems level headed.

Yeah, I'm not keen on gossip, but honestly we work remotely so I think it's be minimal.

No, he and I have kids the same age. He had them young, I had them at an average age.

I'd say that life is too short to not have fun then 😁

What is it only a bit of fun if neither of ye looking for a relationship 🤷🏻‍♀️..
Once it doesn’t make work awkward, only you know that OP , if it doesn’t have fun 🙌 😊

Pleatherandlace · 20/10/2025 22:51

However, if you hate your job and plan to leave anyway then go for it.

Pleatherandlace · 20/10/2025 22:50

I wouldn’t bother, not because of the age gap but because you work together. It’s not worth the potential fall out especially as you don’t want a relationship .

Cougarintown · 20/10/2025 22:50

I do sort of want to. He's hot and I'm flattered. But I'd be so embarrassed if anyone knew!

Go for it. It's only a date and 28 isn't eww young territory. Just young territory. See how it goes.

Stichintime · 20/10/2025 22:47

No.

Pleatherandlace · 20/10/2025 22:47
