I think of them more as pastimes:)

Walking the dogs
Hiking without dogs.
Reading
Learning about stuff like dead reckoning for no reason.
World news. Politics.
Ancient Kings and wars, and mooning over long forgotten battlefields or places of interest to for example hannibal and the alps ( see hiking)
Languages. i like learning languages.
Gardening. I'm really bad at it but like putting on my gardening outfit and pottering about. Like margo from the good life:)

chatting with people. Love it! Everyone is so interesting.

I want to learn to sew. I have a sewing machine but I can't even master threading it, despite YouTube.

Dreaming about one day finding someone who also likes ^^ so I'm not doing it on my own.

brunettemic · 20/10/2025 22:57

Running and training.
Buying running shoes.
Buying running clothes.
Coming up with reasons why I need new running shoes and clothes.
Reading.
Marvel. My DH and DS got me into it and I’m a bit obsessed.
Eating crisps and chocolate, preferably not whilst running.

Spicepie · 20/10/2025 22:57

Pissing mumsnet off.
I dont have a hobbie as such i just do what i feel like doing.

harveythehorse · 20/10/2025 22:53

Horses. I only have space and money for one in my life and DD has taken that so my current 'hobby' is fulfilling her dreams.

That said, I'm very interested in this as I'm desperate for a hobby I can do in the evening at home which isn't mega expensive but tired eyes/mind/body can cope with.

Appalonia · 20/10/2025 22:51

Took up oil painting after being inspired to do some art after watching Grayson Perry's Art Club during lockdown. It's been such a source of joy for me and I've discovered i I'm not bad at it! Was doing Zumba until the Council shut down the classes. Recently joined the gym, so swimming and doing yoga and pilates. Recently taken up pottery, but it's quite hard, so think it will take a long time to get any good at it...

Added a few pics of my paintings, am just a novice, but I do enjoy it.😁

My kids started orienteering at school and I’ve taken it up and am hooked. Running and thinking at the same time. You don’t even know you’re exercising because you’re thinking so much.

I am also in a choir and run.

notacooldad · 20/10/2025 22:50

Mine are the all the usual middle aged women stuff, listening to podcasts, hill walking, cycling, walking my three dogs, pilates, swimming and gym.
Ive go to a lot of gigs and going to three this week.
I quite like an afternoon tea with my friends.

maudelovesharold · 20/10/2025 22:37

I’d love to be specific, but it would be quite outing, as they’re both a bit niche! Main hobbies are a couple of music groups (same instrument) and a dance class.

-Scuba diving on most holidays
-Rock n roll dancing

RunningNananananananananana · 20/10/2025 22:36

Apart from running, my hobby is spending lots of money on something doing it for a week then consigning it to the cupboard of forgotten hobbies 🫠

MotherTuckinGenius · 20/10/2025 22:35

And yep MN mods I know my post will be deleted 🥱

MotherTuckinGenius · 20/10/2025 22:33

PermanentTemporary · 20/10/2025 22:28

I think I have pastimes rather than hobbies - reading, radio and podcasts (mostly history), theatre, gigs and concerts, swimming, word puzzles. Long ago I used to row which is a great sport but very time-consuming.
