If you could wake up tomorrow with a specific singer’s voice, whose would you choose and why?

Inspired by another thread, mine would be Karen Carpenter.

Exactly who came to my mind first

Dusty Springfield is another one

I've never understood why people automatically go for Alison Moyet to answer this question. To me she's horribly nasal and just shouty. Everyone has different preferences of course but I can't listen to her.

IAmKerplunk · 23/10/2025 07:21

Not really a singing voice but Eminem 🙈 I would love to have his speed and enunciation and quick thinking 🙈

An actual singer - Annie Lennox is a good shout or Susan Boyle

eta Alison Moyet

Sid9nie · 22/10/2025 22:58

Alison Krauss love her work with Robert Plant
Ane Braun

Karen Carpenter is a good call. I love her voice. But I'd probably pick Judith Durham.

Ooh Judith Durham, fab choice. I was going to say Annie Lennox or Montserrat Caballé but Judith Durham is up there too.

YehaaYessir · 22/10/2025 22:40

I've just finished watching the traitors, and I have to admit, I'd love to have a set of lungs like Charlotte Church 😜

Gotback · 22/10/2025 22:36

Ella Fitzgerald or Julie London

Bigcat25 · 22/10/2025 22:28

Darlene Love or Debbie Harry.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 22/10/2025 22:27

Renee Fleming. Or more recently Pretty Yende.

Also another vote for Judith Durham.

Cher. Or Jack Black , if I was male. He seems to be a great live performer. He nails it each time he sings.

Me and oldest DS went to see Tenacious D last year. It was one of the best concerts I’ve been too (and I’ve been to a few). They were brilliant.

EliosBackPack · 21/10/2025 19:25

Should have said, Etta James try her singing “A Sunday kind of love.”

TwinklyStork · 21/10/2025 19:18

Assssofspades · 20/10/2025 20:15

Mel C

I might pick her too. The way she sang I Don't Know How To Love Him in Jesus Christ Superstar was fantastic.

For a man - George Michael.

OneFootAfterTheOther · 21/10/2025 19:17

Cynthia Erivo

EliosBackPack · 21/10/2025 19:15

Etta James for me.

We had I'll Never Find Another You as the exit music at my mother's funeral, just in case anyone wasn't crying already.

I listened to this clip that was posted and thought about having it at my funeral...then I started to cry 😢
Fantastic choice 🥰

Judith Durham of The Seekers.
If I woke up male, I'd like Matt Munro's voice.

Oh, yes to Matt Munro or Perry Como.

MardyBra · 21/10/2025 14:04

Ella Fitzgerald or Aretha Franklin

Eyesopenwideawake · 21/10/2025 13:22

Alison Moyet or Adele.
