Please answer this question firstly with a number. What proportion of men - who had they been born into wealth and status - would have sex with a 17 year old attractive girl whom they’d never met before?

I don’t know the answer, but I’m upset to say that I’d put the number somewhere in the 30-40% range.

The funny thing is despite the very high odds every person on this thread will think their DH would fall into the small minority that wouldn’t 😳

VanCleefArpels · 19/10/2025 00:23

Not many of the married ones. Of the single ones a low double figures percentage. Because not that many men are sexually attracted to girls who could be their children. Or if they were wouldn’t act on it.

I think this is incredibly wishful thinking. I would say a minimum of half and more like 70/80%

Drachuughtty · 19/10/2025 13:36

85

If they believed she was genuinely willing I think most of them would, as high as 90%.

If they knew or believed she was trafficked I do think far fewer. Maybe half or slightly less.

100% agreed.

What is the context? Your thread makes no sense. You say you don't know the answer but you are upset by your own (presumably made up) answer of 30-40%. How on earth can we answer a completely hypothetical question with a percentage? We can all guess and then what? You have a load of meaningless numbers. Give some context and seek opinions.

Exactly in fact all the posters are just guessing numbers.

FKAT · 19/10/2025 11:25

Having been a 17 year old, I'd say 70% but I'm now married to a man who definitely wouldn't so that skews my view of how many morally upstanding blokes there are out there. Possibly up to 90%?

Also it wasn't sex, it was rape.

Sadly, I would have to say at least 70%.

If the late Queen couldn’t get it right, what hope is there for most?

Probably the vast majority of us, as most people dont not only abdicate all responsibility for parenting to staff (apparently she wanted to do better by Andrew and Edward but didnt even know how to bath them so sat and watched while a servant did it) but then doesnt authorise those staff to discipline the child and refuses herself to reprimand the child ( even when adult) when numerous concerns were raised about his behaviour. Refusing even to listen to the cincerns of her eldest son, who now has to deal with her shitshow. I think most people could manage better than that- especially with round the clock help. Most people also dont send their 8 year old to boarding school with round the clock protection, yet allegedly the child still ends up havingvsexual experiences at 11.All that goes more for Philip.

ERthree · 19/10/2025 11:10

Rich or poor makes no odds, i would say 95%. Men are will have sex with any female, they are not fussy. Having been with the military for 20 years i can tell you out of the 1000s of men i have known only a handful haven't cheated. My now Husband knows so many blokes and he says they all cheat and blokes think it is ok to cheat but wouldn't put up with their wifes/girlfriends cheating.

PumpkinSparkleFairy · 19/10/2025 09:15

I don’t get it - are PPs saying that 90% of wealthy men they know in their 40s and up would try to have to sex with any 17yo girl they’re introduced to, within a couple of hours?

So they meet a friend’s 17yo DD and immediately try to shag her?? Christ.

It's such a weird question because it tries to exclude the girl's behaviour. I can see why, but it makes the question pretty meaningless. Are you asking whether they would pursue a 17 year old who showed no interest in them? I'd say the percentage might be low not for ethical reasons but because it's embarassing being turned down.

The question should be would they say yes if the girl asked? In which case I'd say it'd be very high indeed. And if the guy was over 40, even if legal it wouldn't be OK.

Zebedee999 · 19/10/2025 10:50

20% Just based on parties I have been to where a young girl has been drunk and flirting, but many men have stepped up and steered her away from the men that have expressed interest.

The 90% numbers are ridiculous; at least in my experience. I guess it depends on the circles you move within.

TempestTost · 19/10/2025 10:50

Zippyzoppy · 18/10/2025 23:45

Sorry, yes I meant to put in the original post, a man over the age of 40.

Edited

Hmm. If the girl seemed keen, maybe half? I think it would go down if she was more clearly being pushed into it in some way.

But then, that is assuming no booze or drugs. Once those are in the picture I think it could go up a fair bit.

Under 30 I think a lot more would because they wouldn't feel they were so far apart in life.

DiscoBob · 19/10/2025 10:49

I'd like to think the older they got, the less likely it would be. So maybe 90% of 20 year olds but only 10% of 60 year olds?

I'd question how truthful any survey respondent would be on this subject in any case.

Egregiousabsolute · 19/10/2025 10:49

If it was guaranteed nobody would know and there would be no negative consequences my number goes up to 99 percent.

Egregiousabsolute · 19/10/2025 10:48

At least 85%

thecatneuterer · 19/10/2025 10:47

95

Little bit confused about these posts. The crime Andrew committed was trafficking. Age is unrelated to this.

even so, what difference does it make what age you can marry in NY and Dc? That has nothing to do with what happened to VG.

No. Andrew has never been accused of trafficking. There is no suggestion he was involved in this. Allegedly he had sex with a woman who was trafficked. That is an entirely different thing.

Also you're stating that he has committed a crime. Not only have you got the crime wrong, but you've also got the fact that he committed a crime wrong. He has never been found guilty. There is no evidence that he has committed a crime. It is her word against his. We can no more say he didn't sleep with her than we can sat he did. It is in his interest to say he didn't. It is equally in her interest to say he did. We will never know.

The only fact is that a lot of money has been made by a lot of people. And now her brother is cashing in too.

TheNightingalesStarling · 19/10/2025 10:41

Its not that long ago that a British newspaper was publishing topless photos of 16yo girls.

I'd like to think its less than in the past, but the truth is many men see any girl or woman over the age of consent as "fair game".

Brenda34 · 19/10/2025 10:36

If they were absolutely they'd get away with it, 95% of them.

Bambamhoohoo · 19/10/2025 10:36

TheKeatingFive · 19/10/2025 10:34

Andrew was not accused of trafficking, but rape.

Having sex with a trafficked woman is 'de facto' rape as being trafficked means she can't consent.

I don't think anyone would buy an ignorance defence in this case.

Yes sorry I don’t think I was clear enough. Andrew had sex with a trafficked person. He doesn’t need to have actually brought her over himself

I agree with the 90% of any men regardless of wealth. Working class men raped an elderly woman who was clearly unconscious in France just a few years ago. The bar is in hell.

I've just read the Virginia G memoir extract in the Guardian. Truly harrowing read.
What happened was 100% awful but Andrew has the plausible deniability that she was 17 and there of own free will, so not illegal in the UK at the time. But he hasn't claimed that, he's still maintaining that he never even met her! Pack of lies, I don't believe the photograph of him and her has been faked. Shame on him and I hope the rest of his days are wretched.

Bambamhoohoo · 19/10/2025 10:33

Needspaceforlego · 19/10/2025 10:26

Do you or anyone else have any evidence that Andrew was involved in trafficking?

As far as I can see the only two involved in trafficking were Jeffrey and Gullane.

Andrew and the rest took advantage of the girls, young women made available to them.
Did they know the girls were being controlled?
Or did they see them as willing escorts?

The age of consent in the UK is 16. Legally people can still get married in Scotland at 16, without parental permission.

Isn’t this a pointless question?

VG says she was trafficked for sex

VG is now dead

i am not the met police or the CPS.

and neither am I a court of law trying Andrew for trafficking. I don’t need evidence.

asking for evidence isn’t the flex people seem to think.
