Induction hob emergency

Please help! I am about to cook for 10 people who have paid good money for my cooking and I can’t make more than 1 of these rings work on this stupid induction hob.

AIBU to ask WTF do I press?!

The on switch bottom right seems to turn the bottom right ring on. Pressing the top 4 buttons does absolutely nothing. I can change the temperature of bottom right fine with the + and - buttons.

Help.

Yes my Mum has one like this in Spain. After you turn on with the power button you touch the circle with arrow and you can move between the rings. Press to toggle through the rings until you get to the ring you want. Then touch the + button which turns the temp to max, then use the - button to turn down to desired temperature.

Guys it’s working!! I googled the instruction manual and it turns out instead of violently jabbing / poking the top buttons like a madwoman you need to gently lay a flat finger across the top applying no pressure whatsoever.

Thank fuck for that. And thank you for the support. I’m back to cooking on my 4 ring hob now 😅

That’s exactly what the very first reply from @devildeepbluesea said to do 😆🤣

Your update has made my night.

Hope the cooking goes well- bloody brave to cook in an unknown kitchen.

top buttons are to select what hob/ring
the + and - buttons are to increase and reduce the temp/number of the selected hob/ring

HTH

Is the home owner not present?

if they are just ask. It's no big deal xx

stop stressing it might not look 'professional' (if that's what you're doing)

Boomer55 · 18/10/2025 16:46

Don’t use them near anyone that’s got a pacemaker. 😳. I had to get rid of mine and go back to (the better) ceramic 🤷‍♀️🙄

sittingonabeach · 18/10/2025 16:46

@TheRozzers I’m afraid I just googled the image but you could Google the instruction manual

FightingInAVatOfJellyBabies · 18/10/2025 16:45

I opened this thread thinking 'how the fuck can you have a hob emergency '. But you didn't disappoint.

I am stressed for you. Sorry can't help, but thanks for a thread that actually lives up to the title.

Good luck

Is it this one?

Yes! That looks like the one. Any tips?

Do new ceramic jobs only work with certain types of pan like induction hobs? Is it failing to work with your pans, or are they the client’s pans? Clutching at straws sorry.

Try taking a picture of the whole hob and asking Chat GPT or posting it here. Chat GPT is surprisingly good at working out appliances.

GellerYeller · 18/10/2025 16:27

Is the hob owner present? Can they show you how it works?

Dartmoorcheffy · 18/10/2025 16:26

Good luck. Im a private chef and I absolutely hate getting to a clients and being faced with hobs and ovens that I've not used before.

Thanks I tried the pan thing but sadly didn’t work

It’s not an induction hob. Having the pan on it will make no difference.

That isn’t an induction hob. They don’t glow or get hot in any way without a pan on them.

sittingonabeach · 18/10/2025 16:22

If induction you need a pan on the ring

Hayley1256 · 18/10/2025 16:18

Do you need to put a pan on the right bit first?

GellerYeller · 18/10/2025 16:18

Has the key icon been pressed? On mine(induction) that locks the control buttons for child safety/cleaning. I think holding it down unlocks it if that’s the case.

redfishcat · 18/10/2025 16:17

Mine has to have the pan on the ring to work. Induction and all that

TheRozzers · 18/10/2025 16:16

The make is Morris
