I saw a post like this yesterday, the husband thanking the wife for all she does for him and their children and all it made we wonder was whether he was pulling his weight in the family 😁

I dont often see women posting similar

Yeah. Often suspicious. Just look at Brad Pitts words to Angelina Jolie. Wasn’t much later he allegedly (or has it been proven), threw her against the wall of their plane, poured alcohol on her whilst trying to sleep, and hit their son who tried to protect her. 🤮

Those sort of posts are just performative.
I don't see the point of them other than ro tell everyone what a great child/partner you are.
If you value someone tell them and show them your appreciation, no need to tell the world

pictoosh · 18/10/2025 16:25

What is it that bothers you?
Is it the language used ,ie, famalam and mummy bear?
Or is the rosy image being projected by their post?
Both?

Yes.

My friends husband used to buy her the most romantic birthday, Mother’s Day etc cards. You’d have thought that he was the most devoted husband.

nobody will ever know how many affairs he’s had, they’re too numerous to count. He’s also been physically violent towards her.

I very much hope that my husband never feels the need to write a gushing social media post to me, particularly as while he’s writing it, I’m likely to be IN THE SAME FUCKING ROOM AS HIM!

Ha yeah this is FIL to MIL, very soppy but will sleep with anything that would have him (which is a surprising amount of women given he is 60 and a total arsehole but there you go!)

I especially like those messages when the person they’re aimed at isn’t on social media. Or even more oddly, when they’re dead.

If it's not meant for you then just move on and don't give it a second thought

YANBU- if it annoys you it annoys you , it’s not like you’re giving them a thumbs down or anything .
I don’t see it that much to be annoyed but I’ve often seen that type of sentiment from people that are struggling, it’s something like wishful thinking or fake it till you make it .
Happy secure people don’t post statements like that .
So I might be concerned or wonder what has them rattled but I wouldn’t be annoyed.

Each to their own.

I think that kind of thing is fine delivered privately to the recipient - it's not wording I'd ever use, but if it makes someone happy, that's great. Posting it publicly on social media is simply showing off to others about what a wonderful family you have. 99% of social media is people showing off about one thing or another.
