Andrew has not given up anything .
His own ( I doubt the wrote it ) statement says he will not use his ‘titles’ .He still has them

Charles and William dare not touch Andrew in case Andrew reveals all about the rest of them - plus they no doubt see nothing wrong- what’s another used and abused peasant to them ?
But another woman linked to the Windsors has died, Virginia Giuffre, and her book is released next week . So the Windsors need to throw a bone to the public and make it look like they have done something . They have done precisely nothing .
It’s hot air .

Is the BBC helping to prop up the Windsor grift ? The article does say Andrew doesn’t ‘use’ his HRH - but he still has it . So they must know this nonsense re ‘giving up’ a title is not the whole story . Why not make it clear to the reader ?

Prince Andrew gives up royal titles including Duke of York after 'discussion with King'

In a statement, the prince says: "The continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family."

I disagree

Beneath the article in the link you’ll see another article . In it a victim of Andrew’s close friend Epstein expresses her pleasure at hearing Andrew is ‘stripped ‘ of his title

Except he hasn’t been.
That’s why it matters

But to all intents and purposes he has been, the only thing missing is the legislation to prevent it formally which isn’t necessary and would be a complete waste of taxpayers money.

He has been told by Charles (more likely William) that he cannot and must not use them. Therefore he has been stripped of the ability to use them.

Andrew and Sarah will no doubt be gutted, serves the pair of them right.

He is not plain old Andrew Windsor though, he is a blood Prince and entitled to use the title.

@Gwenhwyfar
That’s true - they did take HRH from Diana

Did they manage to find the legislative time then ?
But now , with all that Andrew is associated with - it’s too much bother

Bullshit
Andrew is protected and ‘not using’ titles he still has is more bullshit
The Windsors are protecting Andrew

Diana voluntarily gave up HRH

Ukisgaslit · 18/10/2025 09:28

@itispersonal

I agree with you re other men - who wouldn’t?

Do we have their names ?
Have they lied on camera only to have their lies revealed by their own hand ?
Are we lauding and paying for these other men ?

The Windsors have done nothing . It’s a sop that they hope will fool the stupid before more revelations in V G book.

Oh and don’t doubt that Andrew is one of many Windsor men ( and women - who knows ) up to their necks in wrongdoing . Yet nothing is done - because ‘royal’

Did I just read that Philip was confirmed to have had an affair with Christine Keeler in the 60s - you know the scandal that involved a Russian spy and which people were told was all lies re Philip ? We were sold the great love story re Philip and Elizabeth- never mind the security issues. I see Andrew has carried on that tradition

Ukisgaslit you mean he hasn’t had his title Duke of York legally removed? You’re right about that it would need to be done through parliament.

No, it’s not been legally removed. His statement says he’s agreed not to use it. I’m not sure that it’s practically any different to Harry and Meghan agreeing not to use their HRH.

Ukisgaslit · 18/10/2025 09:22

Luna6 · 18/10/2025 09:19

I am sure he didn't give the titles up willingly and I believe the pressure came from William. The BBC are just reporting facts; what was said in Andrew's announcement - they aren't going to start making up scenarios to please the public. I certainly wouldn't be losing sleep over it.

It’s a huge embarrassment for Andrew but in reality it changes nothing! He is still Prince Andrew and always will be.

He is obviously a wrong un but I think he is being used as a scapegoat to protect others who were Epsteins friends - cloak and daggers but not within the royal family!!

prince Andrew will still have his family money and home but will be a public pariah! I think the letter Sarah Ferguson wrote, again was leaked for ill intent! If the person had been a good friend to them (without the repulsiveness/ evil) she can write a letter to him saying he had been a good friend. Why was it released many years later?

not usually one for conspiracy theories but seem weird just one prince is the main target instead of many, many very wealthy and powerful men.

Ukisgaslit · 18/10/2025 09:20

@ilovesooty

The headline says Andrew is ‘stripped ‘ of his Duke of York title

He isn’t . He still has it . He just says he won’t ’use ‘ it

That is why I think the headline is misleading

Yes I realise that re Diana and we were told Diana agreed to have the HRH removed .
I don’t know whether she did or didn’t but I do know that when the Windsors lips are moving , they are lying

He will be giving up the title Duke of York but he will still be a prince. That cannot be removed as it is due to birth order.

Precisely. I don't see what's misleading about it.

If any of us were properly terrible at our jobs, consistently used young prostitutes and made sexual comments and were generally horrible to be around we would be sacked promptly. Shocking how he’s hung on for years there must be a reason like he knows stuff.

It never seemed to hold people back in the company I work for.

Adooree · 18/10/2025 09:09

He's been stripped of his " given " titles such as Duke of York but he was born from a queen so was an automatic Prince , so a Prince he will remain .

his ex wife Sarah becomes plain Sarah Ferguson and no longer Duchess , which I think she probably became that when they divorced anyway .

Royal titles aside , I'd be more interested in knowing how much money he is entitled / is still getting from us ?

Apparently she was still using "dutchess" but she can't now. She was using it to impress people and help make money.

They are both pathetic.

JacknDiane · 18/10/2025 09:12

I completely agree with you @Ukisgaslit. This is to make Charles and William look good, and decisive. As if. The royal family look after their own. I notice the queen Elizabeth is now being blamed for Andrew's behaviour. Handy now she's dead.
Nothing has changed, he's still a prince living in luxury.

No, that wasn’t a legislative change for Diana specifically. That was an LP stating that people who get divorced from the royal family will lose their HRH. It would apply to anyone. Removing HRH from a born prince would presumably require a bit more faffing.
The LP was done in the same year as Charles and Andrew both got divorced, so was presumably done in anticipation of that.

BadgernTheGarden · 18/10/2025 08:58

He's the late Queen's son, so he is a prince by birth nothing can change that, but he can refrain from using his title. I do think he should move out of the Windsor house and live somewhere a bit less in public view, but wherever he lives the press will still follow him however much he wants to live privately.

At least his great-uncle Edward had the decency to fuck off to France and live fairly privately.

He hasn’t ’given anything up’ yet because it has only just been announced.

He didn’t inherit anything after the ER’s death except 2 dogs.

What exactly are you expecting? For Charles to turf him out onto the street and he live on a council estate?

I get annoyed when the media always end a story about Andrew with 'the prince has denied all allegations' - this somehow lets him off the hook and leaves the issue dangling.

I think stories should end with 'the prince has denied all allegations, but did pay out a reported £12 million in a civil case', which leaves a more accurate impression, in my opinion.

What’s the BBC got to do with it? ITV has the same news article, expressed in the same way. The news organisations are reporting what they have been told. But it’s clear that it’s the King who has forced him to stop using the titles, Andrew hasn’t voluntarily given them up. And he’s still Prince Andrew, not Andrew Windsor.

Could the BBC please make that clear ?
