Working class men are the most attractive

And there's no convincing me otherwise.

Labourer is not synonymous with working class you know.

Do you automatically fancy call centre operatives/supermarket staff and hospitality workers? Because since the mines closed down a lot of men who would have worked down them now have those jobs instead. They're still WC.

StrengthPleaseToday · 17/10/2025 13:40

Based on purely the aesthetics of the work attire I would say builder/carpenter/gardener/mechanic attire looks better than office attire. And those are traditionally working class jobs. But technically anyone from any class could do those jobs so for me it's more about the style of clothing.

aCatCalledFawkes · 17/10/2025 13:38

Hmmmm well I don't like blanket statements but I was married to carpenter and I guess some people like his current wife would call him attractive. I have also dated other tradesmen and another who was I guess what you class as WC.
None of them lasted, most of them used to talk endlessly about their day/work and ask me very little about mine, as they "don't do IT" 🙄. They also had being skint in common. They were quite good at putting shelves up, fixing things and building flat pack though.
Dating someone now who isn't skint and who does understand my job (the good bits and the frustrating bits) is abit of a revelation.

XWKD · 17/10/2025 13:36

Well you generally don't see Supreme Court justices up on the roof in sexy little shorts while showing off their rippling torsos, so it's hard to know... 🤔

Yes indeedy @MO0N.

Mid 30s peak male attractiveness imo.

Working class probably wasn't the best wording. Maybe should have included a 'light-hearted' in there too for the uptight among us!

IME early to mid 40s is the peak.
But, in addition to grafting for a living, he needs to be a man who goes to the gym and knows how to lift.

JohnBullshit · 17/10/2025 13:34

Rolled up sleeves are what do it for me, and I don't much care if the shirt collar is blue or white. I like the wearer to be intelligent, preferably a tiny bit less intelligent than me, but a thick bloke is a big turn-off, whatever class he might be.

Luckyingame · 17/10/2025 13:33

May I ask, based on what????

Brassknucks · 17/10/2025 13:29

I’m wc and I mostly dated wc/middle class men, once I gave a lord a cheeky hand job. He was a bit posher than MC. I didn’t have a type as long as they were funny.
I ended up with the smartest man I ever met, wc but very educated and well read and reasonably funny but mostly kind, and helpfully for me, really fit to look at.
But for a WC bloke his DiY skills are fucking abysmal. He looks like he is fresh out of strangeways and is off to find a job labouring before he reverts back to selling cocaine, but he is actually headed to an independent book shop before picking up a bubble tea for himself.

Minnie798 · 17/10/2025 13:27

I definitely find the rugged, rough and ready, could handle themselves in a fight look attractive.
I hadn't associated it with a particular class though. It's just my type of man 😂.

Alittlefrustrated · 17/10/2025 13:24

I judge on a case by case basis. I do however LOVE a hard hat and tool belt.

LadeOde · 17/10/2025 13:23

User3365237 · 17/10/2025 12:36

I'm talking about the rugged types on building sites etc. Intelligence and class are entirely separate.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the 'rugged' types in GOT, gritty and battle worn! Building site types are pretend <hoiks bossom>

tragichero · 17/10/2025 13:22

If we are just talking "see them in the street and have to press my thighs together" hot, then yeah, love a dusty builder in hi-viz with muscles, tats, love a biker beard too, etc etc.

If we are talking dating/relationships, class is less relevant and for me it comes down to intelligence, kindness, sense of self irony, an open mind..... Looks are a factor too, but I find if I really like the guy then I start to love the way he looks, even if he isn't my usual "type".

I find any form of class prejudice (or any form of prejudice at all) a big turn off though, so if it's a middle or upper class guy who thinks he is innately superior to the working classes, he is not for me.

Plus, I am culturally pretty working class, witha strong regional accent, despite being fairly highly educated i suppose (I went to Oxford). I couldn't be in to a guy who judged my family, or my accent, or anything like that.....

ImFckingMattDamon · 17/10/2025 12:46

Oooh me too. I think even relatively plain men become a lot more attractive if they are wearing tradie clothes 😍

God no. I see the tradies in my local shop as there's a lot of building near me and they get their lunches there. They drive up in their dirty vans or trucks in their boots and shorts, they're rough as hell, talk far too loudly to each other, look like their idea of fun is 10 pints of lager and a fight. Dreadful.

I have been out with educated men who were manipulative and overly status
conscious in that very unattractive ' insecure middle class ' way you sometimes get. I was quite put off by them. I have now been with a wc man for 8 years , who is super bright, very moral and incredibly funny. I dont think you can generalise, but that has been my personal experience.. I hated the sly, sliminess of ghe middle class men I went out with. All hussling for position and overly sensitive about what other people think.

Slightyamusedandsilly · 17/10/2025 12:45

They are more masculine. But in an ideal world I'd like a combo of masculine with highly intellectual. And that is an imaginary combo. So I'll just stay single, thanks.

My husband is this combo, you have to date a middle-class professional from a working-class background. I like a bit of rough, but not that rough.

Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 17/10/2025 13:18

I couldn't give a shit about class, it's the person. I love DH because he's funny, kind and lovely.

IcedPurple · 17/10/2025 13:17

User3365237 · 17/10/2025 12:39

Tom Hardy (and dare I day it, Danny Dyer).

Tom Hardy often plays what might be described as 'working class roles', but he himself is pretty posh, as others have said above.

Outside of sport, you won't find too many working class celebrities these days.

Comeonbabylightmyfire · 17/10/2025 13:17

‘Excuse me mr builder, you have lovely eyes. Where did you go to school and what do your parents do for a living?’

Would the boiler suit still be a turn on if he got a good education and his parents have middle class jobs.

MollyButton · 17/10/2025 13:16

Are you Germaine Greer?

RedToothBrush · 17/10/2025 13:16

Theres some absoluetely daft comments on this thread.

Plenty of working class men who hit every branch on the fugly tree when they fell. Same with middle class men.

And thank fuck we don't all fancy the same people.

BunnyLake · 17/10/2025 13:15

I think you just have to take each person as they come.

MO0N · 17/10/2025 13:13

I'm seeing that the op is referring to men who graft for a living.
If that means a lean but heavily muscled physique with hands like shovels then I can certainly see the attraction.

teacupzs · 17/10/2025 13:02

@reversingdumptruckwithnotyreson I don't see it. Good looking faces are genetic luck & unfortunately not that common

There's definitely a stereotype WC face type and a stereotype MC face type though. Obviously not every person has it. But I think it appears enough in the respective social classes for it to have become a stereotype.
Show most people a picture of a fine featured, pale faced, soft skinned man and one of a square jawed, tanned, very masculine man and ask which is WC and most would say the second. Its enough of a pattern to have become a stereotype.
When people say WC men are attractive they are thinking of this look. Not the over weight, beer bellied, hairy arse crack missing a few teeth 50 year old guy who's laying their neighbours new drive.

Nah.

Give me Richard Armitage from about 10 years ago.
