My rhoughts exactly, I hope that the girls visiting him are kept an eye on aswell, because I would be deeply concerned if any of them have children or have them in the future as they were so enamoured with such a sick, twisted, evil paedophile.

I always wonder why some women are attracted to vile, abusive, violent murderers, and pedophiles? Baffling.

Well no, because plenty more managed to fathom it. It's on you that you couldn't.

Not at all. We're not mind readers. It's more difficult to understand the intention when it's written, without verbal nuance to back up intended meaning.
Some people get mixed up with the subject matter and this is probably what many thought/presumed you had done.

If I was you I would've just explained that it was meant sarcastically......it's not hard to clear things up. It "on you" for not being very nice and trying to demean people for something that wasn't obvious for many many people. (Neither of my parents are English so we weren't brought with sarcasm).

A lot of people who claim to be against the Death penalty are actually not being honest as this thread shows. We all have a case where the death penalty would fill us with an absolute sense of glee and relief. I dont mourn this man and think that the death penalty should be offered to convicts on demand as assisted dying is to the general population.

I'm certainly not against the death penalty.

Good, I hope he died in agony. I read those sentencing remarks with my 10 month baby boy in my arms and nearly vomited.

I hope those 2 mothers were sterilised and that the poor baby boy and baby girl were both raised by loving families. My heart breaks for them, they deserved so much better.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke. Good fucking riddance.

I assumed it was true too - that he was killed for non-nonce related reasons.

He would have been quite a lucrative cash cow in prison, what with all the buying favours and protection he reportedly had to do. He could more than afford it.

Prisoners generally don't have such exorbitant sensibilities that they'd be willing to cut off a large and plentiful income stream due to moral outrage at the nature of a fellow inmate's crimes. The people who get prison napalmed will have had nothing like his personal wealth.

I’m guessing though that there’s probably many many incidences of debt between prisoners which build up sometimes. And I assume the debtors are probably threatened, intimidated, beaten, but I can’t imagine someone being killed because of it. I would think more likely killed for their crime than for an unpaid debt.

Let's go all the way and have the death penalty, or, if we don't want that, let's not let our prisoners kill each other.

That our prisons are in the prisoners' control is not something to celebrate.

I loathed the man and find his crimes so abhorrent I can barely think about them. It's still not right that we allow this to happen in our prisons and that people think it's great news that it did.

No loss whatsoever. I feel sorry for the prison guards and others who had to witness it.

His case was utterly vile. I hope his victims found some peace and this news brings something the end of a chapter as much as it can. The poor babies whose mothers were involved in their abuse just break your heart to think about.

To a much different extent I do wonder how their more fervent fans coped. I remember seeing them at the NME tour years and years ago and there were people with tattoos for them and all sorts. Its a shame that innocent youthful enthusiasm was tainted with such evil.

The poor babies mothers presented them to him for abuse didn't they? They are also in prison?

CountryQueen · 11/10/2025 22:41

Livelovebehappy · 11/10/2025 22:20

Sorry. Thats bollocks. They have vulnerable prisoner units where prisoners are segregated if sexual crimes or crimes against children. They don’t need to request this, but they’d stupid not to for obvious reasons….

Who is this mysterious “they” that all have VPUs? Because it’s not HMP. Many prisons run on what we call a “fully integrated regime”. Meaning all, but the extremely vulnerable, are housed together and follow the same regime together regardless of offence. The only common denominator is their category status.

The prison in question here has run in this way for a long time, with a very small number of prisoners on any kind of VP status. If they require a VP unit and it’s appropriate then they’d generally be shipped out to another cat A jail that has a VP wing.

Do you want to share where you’re getting your info from that you can confidently say it’s bollocks that uk prisons often run an integrated regime? I mean, I can go back and tell them LiveLoveLaughWhatever says we’re doing it all wrong if you like? 😅

Well so fucking what? I always feel sorry for the family of people like Watkins who get tainted with the crime fof the rest of their lives. Having read about the effects of the moors murders on MH sister and mother, who effectively became recluses in the aftermath, for example.
Its not the family 's fault this happened.

They could do the right thing and sign over any rights/money/assets to child abuse charities though rather than profit from him.

Yes sorry - I completely misread you initially and have since realized and acknowledged that - my bad.

I think your last sentence is wildly incorrect. What exactly are the police able to do with the information ‘IW wants to commit X/Y/Z crime’? The job of the police didn’t extend to arresting people before they commit an offence.

She had evidence of previous crimes. Had they acted on her repeated reports rather than by dismissing her as a bitter headcase ex/fan, he should have already been in prison with no career long before additional crimes were committed.

  • 29 December 2008 - Joanne Mjadzelics' reported Watkins to Pontypridd Child Services for inappropriate conduct with a child
  • 31 December 2008 - Rhondda children's services received a handwritten letter from Ms Mjadzelics
  • 8 January 2009 - Meeting held to discuss allegations, police investigation opened
  • 28 March 2009 - Ms Mjadzelics is interviewed by West Yorkshire Police
  • 1 June 2009 - Investigation officially closed by South Wales Police
  • 4 October 2010 - Report made to the Met Police by someone else of "disturbing comments" made by Ian Watkins
  • 29 May 2011 - Ms Mjadzelics sent email to ACPO claiming Watkins had raped a young child
  • 21 September 2012 - Watkins is arrested and bailed and his computers seized

He'd shown the woman who reported him child sexual abuse images, so they could have got him on possession/possibly distribution? of said images.

Just to pick up on this one point, actually it can be better to know. I've lived with mental distress all my life, due to events that happened in childhood.

But when I was finally informed of a (roughly) 12 - 16 week period of extreme neglect as a newborn in between biological and adoptive parents then finally some of that distress made sense. The damage can't be undone but at last I know why the distress seems to go so deep. It was a very big piece of the jigsaw puzzle and it has helped a great deal to know what happened. It stopped me feeling there was something intrinsically wrong in me.

It also explained certain physical skin issues that according to the biological parent I wasn't born with, but adoptive parents said were present when they got me, and the issues are most likely to be the direct and lifelong aftereffects of a physical experience. For me, finding these things out has been a good thing and oddly enough, mentally freeing even though the skin problems and other distress will remain.

It's incredibly difficult to know what to say or not say for the best, and also at what point anything should be said.

I’m fairly sure I read in the sentencing remarks at the time that the children will have been told when they are old enough. Horrific as it is they’re going to wonder why they don’t live with their mums and children have a right to know their past of course. I hope they are given the support they’ll need

ReleaseTheDucksOfWar · 11/10/2025 21:58

@ThatDreamyLemonBiscuit the previous stabbing of Watkins in prison was over a drug debt, or so it was reported. He paid other prisoners to keep him protected after that according to Wiki, but the first stabbing was drugs related not due to what he'd done to children.

I dont think @InterIgnis was denying Watkin's abhorrent crimes. I think she was saying that he might have been killed in prison for other reasons such as drug debt.

Exactly this.

CountryQueen · 11/10/2025 21:04

You don’t think it’s important that people have the facts so they can stop congratulating the prisoner that did this?

You sound about 6 if you think it’s ok that keyboard warriors are accusing prison officers of turning a blind eye to murder. Maybe stop reading if you don’t like them being challenged.

Oh don't be absurd. They are both desperately trying to outdo each other and have the last word. It's so tedious.

Claysta · 11/10/2025 22:24

I think you would have to be fairly hard-of-thinking to be unable to work out from context the unlikehood of a poster coming onto a parenting website to seriously mourn the demise of an unrepentant paedophile.

If anything, the OP was somewhat naive in not realising just quite how obtuse some people can be. Lesson learned, no doubt.

Oh, I really have learned that one!

I’m unashamedly happy he’s dead. It doesn’t matter to me the reason he’s been killed, the cunt is dead. There’s a special place in hell for the mothers who offered up their precious babies to be abused by him. Those women who were supposed to love and protect their children to the ends of the earth. May they meet a similar fate…
