I don't agree this should have happened, murder is wrong regardless of who the victim is, but I also feel no sympathy for Watkins.

Ah, well, not always really the case is it? I mean, if someone had murdered Hitler when he was 18 years old, well..

I do believe some people are so flipping evil that I am happy to smile a little when they've been taken away.

Poor Diane Keaton, to die on the same day as this one. Sad.

Oh no, not Diane Keaton!

Throat slashed too, oof. Good news all round, I think 🙂

Mad to think though that, as an entertainer who was also a child rapist, if he'd just been born on the other side of the Atlantic he'd have been a very strong candidate to be elected president.

Happyjoe · 11/10/2025 19:53

Couple of days ago Gisele Pelicot's rapist got another year added to his sentence, and today Ian Watkins. That and Gaza, well, it's been a good few days for a change news wise.

CrystalShoe · 11/10/2025 19:51

Killed by a fellow inmate, too! Guess it's true what they say about child offenders being viewed as the lowest of the low in prison.

I love it when bad people use their dodgy skills for the greater good! 😂 Well done that murderer!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 11/10/2025 19:51

Oh look, if it isn’t the consequences of his own actions!

RandomGeocache · 11/10/2025 19:50

Well this is all rather distasteful.

Yes the man did horrible things and was locked away for a very long time as a consequence. However, posters are trying to outdo each other by being the most happy, the most delighted, the most ecstatic at his passing. It's very odd.

Having a family member working as a prison officer I do feel for the staff, especially the person who found the body. There will be an investigation and it's not only aimed at finding the killer but also into the staffing and whether they have any liability. While they may not be mourning his death the stress of an investigation may well further deter these people from continuing to work in what is an understaffed and underfunded service.

Was he killed in his cell?

Butchyrestingface · 11/10/2025 19:48

If the assailant has been identified and presumably faces trial, could we possibly see a case of de facto jury nullification (eg, acquittal) in the English courts?

AhBiscuits · 11/10/2025 19:47

I think prison can be worse than death. I wish this has happened on the day he was due to be released.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 11/10/2025 19:46

What happened to the women who gave him their children to abuse?

They where jailed it was in the court documents

Glitchymn1 · 11/10/2025 19:47

ShesTheAlbatross · 11/10/2025 19:39

Well I doubt the people locked up with him were prime examples of morals and values either.

But the child abusers /killers always rank the lowest of the low. It’s category A - murderers and rapists. Some people think they deserve to live, have use of a gym, be well fed, warm, entertained, access to work, education even though they can never be released into society.

This is simply bollocks. Sorry but there’s no other way to put it. Total bollocks.

They do in the prison I worked in. Mainstream and protection are kept strictly apart for fear of attacks.

You really believe that? That they never get an easy time inside? Why do most of them reoffend then?

I shouldn’t be surprised but I always am. Why are you making the probably false assumption that he was harmed due to his offence?

Because they don't think they'll get caught again.

Livelovebehappy · 11/10/2025 19:43

It’s not a new thing. Always been the case that paedophiles are hugely at risk in prison from other inmates. In fact I thought they were usually in solitary confinement or holed up with other paedophiles. Apparently there’s an unwritten ‘law’ in prison that anyone who has committed crimes against children is fair game. And there have been many attacks against such people.

That prisoner cut his throat over a drug debt. He didn't care he was a pedophile, they are selling drugs, assaulting and killing people, because they can't pay. They'll do the same when they get out again. They have made our prisons even worse and prisoners will be coming out even more violent and mentally ill. No doubt most of the same men think they have the right to beat/rape/kill the women in their lives, because she isn't doing exactly as he wants. The prison guards have lost control and that isn't a good thing.

That prisoner cut his throat over a drug debt.

I assumed this. He's reportedly been buying friendships and protection in prison for years. Guess some prisoners will have had their income stream severely cut by this.

Spookyspaghetti · 11/10/2025 19:43

I’m a bit shook up reading it (yes dramatic before anyone points this out) as it brings it all back. When I was young I spent a whole summer listening to their album on repeat, and, on nights out, the whole club would belt one of their hits out. Used to read the music magazines where he was treated as a rock God. When the truth came out that he was a sick peedo who had committed the most horrendous crimes I literally put their CD in the bin, deleted from iPod etc.

The bit that makes it feel shocking is that you can take someone at face value when really they are dangerous and monstrous.

Im not sorry about his death I’m only sorry for his victims, especially the baby and find the whole thing shocking.

DrowningInSyrup · 11/10/2025 19:43

Alconleigh · 11/10/2025 18:49

It really didn’t come across as sincere, given the context!

Sadly there are a lot of supporters of Watkins, so actually it could have been sincere. Grotesque, but sincere.

CountryQueen · 11/10/2025 19:43

Spidey66 · 11/10/2025 19:40

It's not often I say I'm glad someone was murdered, but I can make an exception.

Child abusers never get an easy time in prison.

TBC99 · 11/10/2025 19:33

I mean, I understand and sympathise with the prevailing opinion; he was clearly despicable human being, but is no-one even slightly concerned that someone can be murdered whilst in prison?
