Men violently preventing women from congregating, communicating and networking, is what the Taliban do. Why is it happening in the UK?

The FiLiA Women's Liberation Conference was targeted overnight, the attackers even live tweeted the violence.

Local politicians are so far silent.

This is literally terrorism, using fear and violence to shut down legitimate peaceful discussions.

Live: Venue vandalised and protesters demonstrate at feminist conference

The Brighton Centre has been vandalised as a feminist conference begins there today.

Nobody, at any point on this thread, has suggested women shouldn't have a conference in Brighton. This appears to be something you've made up and are now insisting to argue about.

You did. In your first response to my post “It's the equivalent of holding a Ranger's fan club meeting in the carpark of Celtic's ground.”
You are clearly implying that Brighton is trans territory. Except it’s not.

@Kimura
Around 50% of Brighton population are women, why shouldn’t they have a conference there?

I'm guessing you'd be worried if they came to your workplace and smashed the windows and vandalised it because they didn't agree you should be there, or somewhere they knew you'd be meeting friends? I imagine you'd not feel they were probably there to just hold signs?

If they vandalized my workplace at 3am when I wasn't there, and I was able to go in the next day and go about my business as planned, I wouldn't give a toss, no.

Bullies only win if you let them.

eatfigs · 11/10/2025 00:02

Has there ever been a single case of feminist women going and smashing up a trans conference? I bet there hasn't. The violence is only directed one way.

Because those are the wrong type of women!

Women are attending a conference. In Brighton. Right now. Have you been on the wine? 😅

I don't find it funny. I'm just not scared of people with signs exercising their right to express their views. And if I believe in something, or disagree with something strongly enough, I will - and have, many times - get out into the thick of it and made my voice heard.

Are you going to Brighton tomorrow to stand up to these bullies and show them that their tactics aren't working?

No, Brighton is not their backyard.

Well, it's great that you think that, but you know full well what Brighton's reputation is when it comes to LBGTQ ete etc. It has the largest non-straight population in the UK. If it's not their backyard, then they don't have one 🤷🏻‍♂️

No, they don’t have a reason to be angry.

Unfortunately you don't get to tell people what they can or can't get angry about.

If a violent male gets angry and beats up his wife, does it mean he has a reason and we just don’t agree with him???

Yes? An awful and unjustifiable reason. Almost everything we do happens for a reason, or we wouldn't do it.

Just because those people were violent and vandalised public property, does not mean they have a reason.

Reasons aren't just things you think are morally correct.

It still does not make it their backyard. Apart from T there are four other letters in LGBTQ, which means they are a small minority within a minority. Yes, they are accepted there but it is not their backyard. They don’t have any special entitlement to Brighton.

I will go with you with regards to their reason. They had an awful and unjustifiable reason to vandalise the conference centre.
Feminists have not done anything to them. They have not taken anything away from trans community.

And a group of violent transactivists smashed up the conference centre in an attempt to intimidate. Doesn't make any difference that this violence was in Brighton, this shouldn't happen anywhere.

Yes. Do you think that would go off without a hitch, or do you think the Rangers fans might come back to find their tyres had been slashed?

Yes, they possibly would find that, due to male violence.

That massively popular TV show that loads of people are invested in? Oh no!

MPs have tweeted about it too.

I'm glad for you that you find aggressive men so funny and inconsequential, though. Must be nice to be in that position.

@Kimura No, Brighton is not their backyard. Trans people are a small percentage of the population so majority of people in Brighton are not trans. If Brighton is the capital of inclusivity it should not be made a hostile place for a feminist conference. Unless inclusivity means excluding feminists.

No, they don’t have a reason to be angry.

Just because those people were violent and vandalised public property, does not mean they have a reason. Their behaviour was unreasonable.

But what are these men protesting about. ?

women having a conference ?

are there cities in the uk that women are not allowed to hold a conference ?

Apparently so. And yes it was predictable. That doesn’t mean women should therefore change their behaviour, because men can’t behave themselves.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/10/2025 22:48

Hahaha it’s so fucking funny when men who are angry for totally reasonable reasons, because women told them no, bully, threaten and intimidate women, not that I’m justifying it or anything, perish the thought!

juldan · 10/10/2025 22:41

Kimura · 10/10/2025 21:58

A feminist conference is not trans women’s backyard.

Brighton, basically the UK's capital of inclusivity, is their 'backyard'. It's the equivalent of holding a Ranger's fan club meeting in the carpark of Celtic's ground.

It is about women and for women. Nothing to do with men identifying as women. If they want to be represented and to be heard, they have to organise their own conference.

I agree. But the way protesting works is that those who don't agree try to disrupt the thing they don't agree with.

So no, they have no reason to be angry.

Who are you (or any of us) to decide what people should or shouldn't get angry about? They quite obviously do have their reasons, you just don't agree with them.
