Will Trump get the Nobel peace prize if this deal comes off?

Any peace in the middle-east will only ever be fleeting, there has been conflict there throughout history. But still, achieving even a temporary peace is an achievement. Sometimes you have to give the devil his due.

I loathe President Trump but I think he may and due to the recent prizes maybe deserve as much The worst thing that the Nobel committee did was give the prize to President Obama after a year in office. The citation on the website was

During his first year in power, President Obama showed himself to be a strong spokesman for human rights and democracy, and as a constructive supporter of the work being done to put effective measures in place to combat the climate crisis. This is in line with his appeal: “Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges”.

On that basis potentially Trump should get the Prize.

The fact that he has been close with dictators, it is very unlikely to be a lasting peace and he has undermined security of Ukraine and pardons for people that tried to stop peaceful transfer of power would disqualify him for me.

And with regards to Trump, I absolutely despise him and think that all this does is prove that if he'd wanted to, he could have made it happen several months ago. He just didn't care enough. But still, I'd rather him win it a million times over than Greta Thunberg 😏

I think he’s prematurely claiming to have permanently resolved the situation in Gaza / Israel, given it’s been going on for the best part of probably 80 years.

No he most definitely shouldn't.
He hasn't addressed the root cause of the wars between Israel and Palestine and there is no guarantee that this peace plan will last.
Surely the reason for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize is that the peace has been sustained between both sides.
It's far too early for this.

And I understand that India have said Trump is talking bollocks when he claims to have brokered peace.

A peace deal being spoken of doesn’t necessarily mean peace. Netanyahu doesn’t want peace imo. It’ll all crash in just a few days, I think.

If he secures an end to the genocide and the return of the hostages, he deserves a bloody medal.

Likely that Israel will break the deal. As Trump supporters have said (sickeningly) they have the demolition done and apparently this is his vision

I’m afraid I’d be amazed (and delighted) if this were to be the start of a lasting peace. There needs to be a two-state solution for that to be a real possibility and that’s the last thing on earth that Netanyahu and the far right in Israel will ever agree to.

Do you get credit for stopping a genocide you've been aiding and abetting?

(And Israel will definitely keep the peace once the hostages have been returned, they're just using up the last of their ammunition tonight because they don't want to be wasteful)

That's not foreign policy. Currently ICE are doing a very good job on the southern border and deporting criminal illegals in the states

India-Pakistan.

Zelensky has taken billions of dollars worth of money and equipment from the US, Trump's allowed to have a say. Ukraine don't have a path to victory at all. It's been a waste of money.

Now we have a peace deal for Israel and Gaza.

It’s far too early to predict if there is peace in the middle east. This is phase one of a peace deal. Fingers and everything crossed that there is long term peace but who the heck knows?!

Yeah, that wall he built to keep out the Mexicans went really well.

I don’t think he’s worthy of it but I don’t think they can not give it to him if he ends this. It’s not like he’d be the first unworthy winner.

How? By sucking up to Putin, bullying Zelenskyy, having nice dinners with Netanyahu and lying about wars that he’s allegedly stopped?

I really hope he doesn’t. It would make a mockery of the whole thing. The man is as peaceful as a rabid Rottweiler.
