No mention of the synagogue attack in work email…

There have been sone awful comments on these boards over the past few days.

There are people now openly saying Jews "bought it on themselves". I saw such a post just yesterday. Not on MN I hasten to add.

It’s become completely normal and acceptable in this country to dislike Jewish people. It’s disgusting.

YNBU. Even in the Cultural Fusion group at work, they barely pay lip service to anything ‘’Jewish’.
There was a lot about George Floyd.
But after the Synagogue attack and October 7th, it was kinda: ‘oh, yeah, and some Jewish stuff going on.

But, anyway - let’s pat ourselves on the back for absolutely fuck all!’

The English very much do do antisemitism. In fact, the English invented the original blood libel way back in the 12th century.

I wish that were the case! IMO there’s always been a latent undercurrent of anti-semitism (much more overt in e.g. Victorian times*) but since the Gaza reaction to Oct 7th, it has become almost ‘fashionable’ to almost equate anti-Israel with anti-Semitic, I dare say as in, ‘My enemy’s enemy is my friend.’

*e.g. in a novel by Trollope I’ve recently been reading, there is one lawyer recommending a lawyer - a Mr Solomon Something - to another lawyer -

‘Isn’t he a Jew?’
‘I have no idea - he’s an attorney, that’s good enough for me.’

There are many such examples in Trollope’s novels.

Precisely. Also look how the word "Zionist" has become a slur. We don't use slurs against Kurdish separatists or people who want a free Tibet which are related to thier desire for independence.

But its got nothing to do with the fact Israel is predominantly Jewish or people being deeply uncomfortable with the minority they pushed around for 2000 years having the ability to fight back. No. Not at all.

Tbh if the only country in the world that you think shouldn't exist at all, under any conditions or any government, is the one where Jewish people originate from, that's pretty antisemitic.

Yes. I no longer listen to people who claim they're "just anti Zionist not antisemitic". Actions speak louder than words, and the attacks on Jews all over the world tell us exactly what those people really believe.

I also work in the NHS and our organisation sent out 2 emails shortly after the news broke, which were well judged I think.

IMO a daily email from the exec team is a ridiculous waste of nhs resources. Someone’s job is to tell the work force such things? And they take time to read it? I despair.

Having said that, if that’s what they do then obviously they should have mentioned the synagogue attack and it was remiss not to.

I’ve had an email from a work related government organisation with resources signposting services for Jewish people affected by the synagogue attack.

Same in my firm. Legal 500 corporate law. Constant reaching out over Gaza. Synagogue attack. Crickets

So tax payers money is being used to pay someone in the NHS to tell staff about readily available news? Christ.

Am in the civil service. The synagogue attack has been mentioned, the arson attack on a mosque, rape of a Sikh women has not.

I don't think it takes 'balls' to simply point out that a major UK news story was missed from the email?

I think it's definitely worth the OP feeding back to them.

Would you have the balls to ask them why they left out important news, a terrorist attack from the newsletter.
