to want the anti-vaxxers to explain themselves?

My Facebook feed is full of GP practices etc. promoting the flu jab, and EVERY response is from people saying they are full of poison, giving everyone flu, part of a government conspiracy, Bill Gates, big pharma, etc.

It doesn't matter where the GP surgery is in the country, the responses are all the same.

Just... WOT IS GOING ON????

It's literally 100% of the respondents. Please can someone explain to me why the general public (on my feeds anyway) have become convinced that the flu jab is part of a conspiracy... to what end?!

Because it is an uneducated opinion from people unable to think logically and critically.

This..gosh is not something you can debate with opinions. Vaccines work. End of..the flu vaccine is less effective but it has a positive benefit. It doesn't seem to matter which vaccines are being promoted the same reaction is online..it was the same when they announced the chickenpox vaccine recently. Pre covid that would have received a much more positive response because it's great that it is included in vaccine schedule. Are these responses automated? It's such a shame we have ended up here.

Facebook is full of this, it’s the age profile now.

I am the same as others, I get certain vaccines bot not others. It’s a choice. I am not in a group that needs a Covid /flu vaccine but others definitely do need it and want it.

Regarding childhood vaccines (especially measles) that is 100% an absolute definite yes for me.

Herd immunity.

It's a bit like drink driving. I can choose not to drink and drive (for the sake of improving my safety) but if other people continue to make dangerous decisions, that can obviously still impact me too.

Herd immunity is nothing like drink driving. Your analogy doesn’t work because taking a vaccine invokes a small degree of risk whereas avoiding being a drink driver does not.

People need to get away from thi idea that they have a right to herd immunity. They don’t. High levels of herd immunity come with the cost of vaccine damage, which many of the hardcore pro vaxxers refuse to acknowledge

Get vaccinated to protect yourself if you want but don’t worry about herd immunity or other peoples vaccine choices. They are up to them.

xanthomelana · 09/10/2025 05:01

I don’t think the recent study in South Korea will help the cause. Any link from vaccines to cancer will see the uptake drop.

Hmm I don't know much about the fly jab but ifas a PP statied it only has a 30% efficiency rate then it won't be must use to heard immunity.

I've never been offered one either so assuming it's just certain groups

You're correct that the flu jab is different. Flu is not going to be eradicated because it evolves into new strains every year.

Things like measles though? That was eradicated and now children are dying from it again because not enough people are getting their kids vaccinated.

Because for vaccines to work, the uptake has to be high. Your choices do affect others.

I haven't seen this on my own FB feed, but I'd just totally ignore them.

Our GP surgery does a "fluathon" event one Saturday morning each September or October where those of us eligible can come for our winter flu vaccines. The queue is always through the waiting room and out of the door into the car park. Fortunately it moves very quickly.

So I don't personally see much evidence of antivaxxers although I know of one or two who can sometimes be vociferous. Most people just ignore them though.

pincklop · 09/10/2025 04:10

I’m not anti vax but flu jab I’m getting emails for kids to have it without any proper info. I think most people are uneducated when it comes to things like this, we are told what to do or not to do and that’s what people follow or trust in. If getting a flu jab is the right thing to do I’d like to know all the facts and be certain myself not just told i need to do it x

Greenmouldycheese · 09/10/2025 04:07

I think people lost trust after the covid vax and the governments reluctance to give all the info surrounding safety. Many people have also been watching Dr Fauci get questioned online and wondering how pharma and government got away with it. Mark Zuckerburg even admitted on camera that he was forced into silencing anyone who spoke about side effects and safety of the covid vaccination. It has made people question other injections.

if you are happy with your decision to vaccinate yourself and your children and convinced it works then why are you so concerned by what other people do?!?! What other people do or don’t do is their business.

That's just a lot of adjectives

It's one adjective. Two adverbs.

I've noticed whenever someone younger dies, there's a flurry of posts asking if they had 'the jab'. Or just a needle emoji. I think Covid has made a lot of people question things.

I don't think those who choose to vaccinate or not vaccinate have to explain themselves. Health decisions can remain private.

BreakingBroken · 09/10/2025 00:44

i'm just not believing some fb comments. either the people are not genuine or they are gathering followers on a controversial topic to make money.

sleepwouldbenice · 09/10/2025 00:42

Partly bots. Partly algorithms. Partly a trend towards hating the establishment (leant into by reform in many ways eg vaccines, climate change, migration, Id cards) As you can see from this thread. Best ignored. Natural selection and all that…

Found one.

🤦‍♀️ No you haven’t, actually. I’m very pro vaccine. I’m having my annual Covid and Flu ones next week, as I do every year, and if they come out with a vaccine for anything else, I’ll have that too, thanks very much.

But your response was the perfect example to demonstrate my point.

BatchCookBabe · 08/10/2025 23:57

They're utterly batshit. Ignore them. I have read (from some) that we are all being slowly poisoned (by the covid jab) and will be dead within 10 years.

This ludicous myth has been busted somewhat by the Government giving covid jabs to a much smaller group of people now. 😆

The people who are coming out with this batshit nonsense are the same ones who think the earth is flat, and that Elvis Presley and Princess Diana are still alive. They also usually support Donald Trump.

OSTMusTisNT · 08/10/2025 23:46

I think most of them are bots. Kind of like the ones you see when someone posts a local road being closed and spammy links to a video of the crash appears within seconds.

And, a few ranting real people dotted here and there that think people will listen to the ramblings of an online nutter instead of someone with a medical degree.

CaroleLandis · 08/10/2025 23:45

Viruses are only able to grow in animal cells, so eggs or laboratory cell lines derived from animals play a necessary part in flu vaccine production.
Our standard quadrivalent vaccines are produced by processes that include culture in embryonated hens’ eggs. Only a trace of egg protein remains in the flu vaccine, but as the egg has been fertilised, some vegetarians and vegans may object to this.
Egg-free flu vaccines are produced in laboratory cell-based culture (based on canine kidney cells).
New recombinant vaccines are increasingly becoming available and are manufactured to a precise molecular formula; the process involves insect cells.

…….

No thanks! Never have and never will.

That’s the way to convince them; demand that they explain themselves and then make it clear to them that you think they’re stupid idiots. They’ll be rushing to their local chemist 🤦‍♀️

You people are never going to understand this, are you?

Found one.

Givemeachaitealatte · 08/10/2025 23:40

Whilst I do understand the concern over childhood vaccine rates and anti vaxxer comments. I couldn't get worked up by people not wanting to get the flu jab, it' crap with a really low success rate.

The wider issue with vaccines in my opinion is about loss of trust in government after COVID, the distortion of truth around the safety and efficacy of COVID vaccines and a general feeling of unrest stoked by social media and bad faith actors. Everyone is paranoid.
