To wonder if Greta will acknowledge her blunder?

Regarding Greta using a photo of emaciated Israeli hostage Evyatar David on a poster/content slide regarding the suffering of Palestinian prisoners.

She & the affiliated have since edited/rectified but seems to be without any acknowledgement or comment from anyone from her or her team… yet.
AIBU to think that’s quite a major gaffe that warrants acknowledgment from her end?

I feel sorry for her, she's poorly educated and manipulated.

But you are not?

Oh yay let's all scream hate at a 22 year old. My favourite thing to do, being vile about young adults who oppose the killing of an innocent population. So attractive, ladies. Do crack on. Your children would be so proud.

Perhaps they'd be even prouder of their parents for screaming hate and abuse against someone with ASD and OCD. They set such a great example.

noblegiraffe · 08/10/2025 23:38

Because then the whole thing isn't actually about delivering aid to Gazans, is it?

Well she's a young adult on a boat, on international waters risking her life in a dangerous situation. The fact that she is doing that and is still trying is better than many can say. It's a statement and shows her strength and solidarity with the oppressed. If someone was homeless and had no idea where their next meal would come from and you attempted to donate them a £1 would people say that it was pointless or worthless to have attempted do so because of the amount while knowing you were hungry and homeless?

Ratafia · 08/10/2025 23:44

flumposie · 08/10/2025 17:03

No. She is vile.

Oh, I know. Really vile of her to care about children being killed. How very dare she.

Bundleflower · 08/10/2025 23:05

Wow. The level of projection in your post is insane. I worry for the world with people like you in it.

I don’t ‘hate’ either side. It’s a really bizarre view that seems to be thrown around that if you dare express concern for Palestine that you somehow ‘hate’ Israel. And nobody is ‘winning’ - don’t be such an idiot. Do you own a tv? Do you see the sheer amount of death on both ‘sides’?

It’s genocide. Just because the ‘side’ you support is ‘winning’ by killing more people, it doesn’t mean a win for anybody.

Shame on you. Your language speaks volumes.

Edited to add: just because you clearly ‘hate’ the other ‘side’ it doesn’t mean it isn’t genocide.

Edited

Have you studied history at all? You know that in all the major conflicts one side have won, and the other has lost. What do you think happened between the Allies and Germany and Imperial Japan in 1945? They all sat around singing Kumbaya and there was no need for the Potsdam Conference? Get a reality check.

Or are you so privileged, so far removed from conflict, and cosy in your European (or North American) complacency you don’t have the first clue what going to war actually means to achieve lasting peace and enduring security? Wars don’t end in harmony circles and treaties written in pencil. They end when one side wins, decisively, and imposes the terms that make peace possible. Without that clarity, without that resolution, the conflict festers, resurfaces, and drags generations back into the same bloodshed.

However, accusing Israel of genocide when they’re patently not - they are fighting a war they didn’t start - does actually make you look at best naive, and at worst hateful. Because whether you know it or not, you’re contributing to toxic discourse cynically intended to de-legitimise the nation of Israel in the eyes of the international community as prelude to its elimination. The reason why Israelis are being so dehumanised by the genocide libel is because the “genocide” charge functions as a rhetorical weapon: it strips an entire people and their institutions of moral complexity, paints them as irredeemable perpetrators, and primes international opinion to see their existence or legitimacy as negotiable. That delegitimisation makes political isolation, sanctions, and calls for elimination far easier to justify in the public mind.

A combatant to civilian ration of 2:1 or 3:1 does not a genocide make. And it’s unbelievably insulting to survivors of actual genocide, so no, shame on you actually!

I don’t hate Palestinians at all. What frustrates me is the global narrative that seems to scream that Palestinians have rights but no responsibilities (the responsibility to not murder, rape and torture your neighbour at every given opportunity) while Israelis are burdened with responsibilities but denied rights
(no right to peace and security…two privileges YOU take for granted in fact). I’m simply calling out the hypocrisy.

There are people working in refugee camps. There are people who get jobs at the UN. There are people who run for office so they can try to change laws. There are people who study for years so they can dedicate their lives to climate technology or sustainable food. These are people who dedicate their lives to making the world a better place. They often choose this over much more lucrative careers because they want to make an actual difference in the world. It is tedious and often demoralizing. Some of the work is dangerous.

These are the people we should be thanking.

Activists who scream and shout and blunder aren’t doing the hard work.

Brilliantly articulated

I think it was only token amounts of aid again.

What difference does that make?

She got a picture wrong. Her heart and soul are in the right place. Her determination is courageous and people attempting to bring in aid on international waters shouldn't be crime nor should she be detained for it. I'm so proud of her.

Such nasty misogynistic language about a young woman from grown ass women, where is all your hatred for the hundreds of spoiled children of celebrities who do nothing but party and drink? She could do that instead, as she has no responsibilities. Instead, she tries to raise awareness about causes that obviously matter to her and your reaction is to call her "an odious creature" "a silly little girl" and other nasty things.
Some of you should take a look in the mirror at yourselves and ask what the hell you are actually contributing to the world apart from spitting poison on an anonymous forum.

Exactly - they wouldn't be this mad about a man doing any of the things she's done

Some very nasty small-minded people on here, I feel bad for their children.

noblegiraffe · 08/10/2025 23:15

You don't think people should apologise for mistakes?

I don't see the Israeli government apologising for lying about no famine in Gaza. They lied about Hamas stealing the aid being brought in which has been proven to be false. They lied about Hamas leaders hiding under a hospital. They lied about certain beheaded babies. They have made many mistakes and lied about certain things from Oct 7 and manipulated the media, to justify genocide and gain sympathy from other countries and the west. Many claims of which were debunked. One rule for one, one for another?

Catssuddenlyappear · 08/10/2025 23:19

Lots of ableism on here - making a refreshing change from the genocide apologism, fatphobia and classism.

newusernamex1000 · 08/10/2025 23:10

I cannot stand her, her arrogance is something else.

Her little speech demanding her government pressure Israel was annoying, she put herself into that situation and she was perfectly safe. She’s nothing but an attention seeker

It’s not a genocide@Bundleflower. Just a war don’t like (presumably because the side you hate is winning).

Still, I’d like to see all your concerned posts shining light on the genocide in Sudan, the genocide being committed against Nigeria’s Christians, and the 275 odd Druze women who have been taken hostage by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Do you think you could provide a link?

How is it not? It’s genocide in every single sense of the word. It might not suit your political, religious or just personal persuasions but it’s absolutely genocide, I’m afraid.

I feel like she is going to have a very interesting life. It’s been action packed already. She’ll have a good biography, I reckon.
