Jews leaving the UK

Ihatetomatoes · 06/10/2025 10:42

I dont blame them. I would if I were Jewish.

They have been failed by their country, which is the UK. I wish them well and hope the UK can sort its anti semitism problems so it becomes safe for Jewish people again.

My views are extreme and unpleasant but yours are perfectly acceptable and should be respected? My views are that killing innocent people is wrong, yours is that killing innocent people is justified?

Who has been directly and negatively affected by my views?

Who has been directly and negatively affected by yours?

You haven't answered a single question I've posed.

You make strawman arguments such as suggesting I justify killing innocent people.

You believe people who support Israel deserve to be disliked.

You cant admit the IDF are going after Hamas on the 2 year anniversary of the worst pogrom against Israel in modern times. You cant even admit that Hamas deserve to be attacked.

I'm literally just saying your own words back to you in the hope youll take a step back and really think about what youre saying.

Can you do that?

@Swiftie1878 I wish people would stop saying 'the Jews' as if we are some sort of hive mind.

For clarity 'I' think Netanyahu is a monster while simultaneously being a Zionist.

'I' think that the attack in Manchester was absolutely due to the tone and fringe elements of these endless, pointless protests. Not because of the war in Gaza. But because the protests are encouraging the people who hate Jewish people to feel emboldened and is creating an atmosphere of hate. I think it is a mistake to connect the two... but I also think the reality is that it is happening.

'I' do not think I have any personal responsibility for the actions of a foreign government but I also know that I am blamed for it by people like you. The confusion is on your end, not mine.

I have no idea why you are attacking me for simply joining the discussion. I know you are feeling a lot of heat right now, but lashing out at people trying to engage with you is very unhelpful.

Well, that is really the point isn’t it? The IDF are not attacking Hamas, they are attacking civilians and targeting infrastructure. That is why Israel’s attacks in Gaza are, legally, war crimes and a genocide.

The IDF are not attacking Hamas? Where did you get that from?

Araminta1003 · 07/10/2025 09:32

“I think you have that wrong tbh. I think most of the public support the marchers’ protests against the ongoing genocide happening in Gaza.”

No they really do not anymore. That ship has sailed. You have been heard. End of.

Swiftie1878 · 07/10/2025 09:23

I think you have that wrong tbh. I think most of the public support the marchers’ protests against the ongoing genocide happening in Gaza.

It’s interesting to me that the Jewish contributors on MN appear to link the atrocious attack that happened at the synagogue in Manchester last week with the protests against the Gaza genocide, as they were asking that the (timing of, at least) the protests be suspended/cancelled etc out of respect and common decency.
But then on the other hand seem to suggest that the anti-semitism being seen and felt by the UK Jewish community is not to do with the Israeli government actions in Gaza, but comes from a simple hatred of Jews.

I’m struggling with this juxtaposition.

Most (self identifying) Jews on MN appear to support Israel’s actions in Gaza, for their own reasons I’m sure. And most other people are against what Israel is inflicting and continues to inflict 2 years post-the October 7th attack by Hamas. This is a problem for UK Jews.

I wonder if the arson attack on the mosque in Sussex had anything to do with the synagogue attack in Manchester? Are all of these issues linked and conflated, and are people refusing to see the wood for the trees?

The British government isn’t struggling with that juxtaposition. Keir Starmer, Shabana Mahmood, a whole host of politicians seem to have grasped it. Did you read Starmer’s article in the Times yesterday? So if you are struggling with it, that’s on you I’m afraid.
It’s not a complicated concept that hate filled shouts on the streets of Britain fuels anti-Semitism resulting in the deaths of people here.
And in case that’s not clear enough: there is a deep well of anti semitism here. Anti semitism has always lurked beneath the surface. The Gaza protests have unleashed it. They have made it palatable and acceptable to shout hatred. That is why the government are now freaking out about it because they know that. That is why British Jews are now scared.
for what it’s worth. If I were in Israel I would 100% be joining protests against the war. But never in a million years would I stand shoulder to shoulder with some of those protesting here because they are using these marches as a vehicle to disseminate hatred, not calls for peace. As I’m afraid a lot of the rhetoric on here shows.

No. The attitude of people like you is the reason Jewish people no longer feel safe or welcome. We are not discussing the UN or the ICC and you full well know no legally binding convictions have taken place.

Do you think the IDF should be attacking Hamas or not?

And you also said people who support Israel should be disliked.

You're making yourself absolutely crystal clear.

btw. Most of my friends would certainly take the more sympathetic to Palestinian angle in this conflict. They all know my views on it. Not a single one of them dislikes me for it. I really think you need to take a good long hard look at how extreme and unpleasant your views are.

The difference between the genocide in Palestine and others is that the Palistinians simply cannot leave.

The British general public have a dislike for the marchers but because they are noisy & righteous they are unable/unwilling to hear anything other than their own echo chamber!
After the events of last week & the anniversary today of the massacre it us time for peace & calm & respect on our streets.

Disgusting comment. You know that two men died, right? Would that have happened if the terrorist hadn’t attacked? Both deaths are on him.

Well my daughter just went off to school in tears as she’s scared about what people will say to her today. Thanks to everyone for this hideous morning.

I’m so sorry. I desperately hope things improve.

You think the IDF aren't attacking Hamas?

Can you even hear yourself?

And on 7 October of all days. Saying Hamas doesn't deserve to be attacked.

Saying anyone who supports Israel deserves to be disliked.

Please think about the things youre saying and consider being quiet for a bit.

PurpleThistle7 · 07/10/2025 09:10

Wow. Genuinely had no idea people misspelled another country on purpose. How insanely stupid that looks.

I really have no idea why people think Jewish people 'here' somehow have responsibility for another country 'there'. I also wouldn't attack Americans because I abhor their current government. It's such a weird extension - I am no more responsible for Netanyahu than I am for Putin.

And I will keep saying - the stated intentions of these protests are very different from the actual impact and you all need to take your portion of the blame for that. You are creating this experience in 'this' country, it's not actually affecting people living in other parts in the world.

Wow. Just wow.

So you dont agree with attacks on anyone ever? Do you think the IDF should be attacking Hamas?

"But if you support Israel, be it a Jew or Christian, then you should understand that people are generally not going to like you very much.

i believe you’re referring to people spelling Israel as Isreal which is not a misspelling but is it a deliberate play on words. ‘Is real?’ Ie Israel is not a real country but an occupying army. Same as ‘Israhell’ Israel = hell"

Pure and unadulterated.

Lovely to wake up to the antisemites posting this morning.
How fucking dare you speak like that?

dairydebris · 07/10/2025 08:45

User1928 · 07/10/2025 08:07

I’m genuinely struggling to understand what it is you are saying. If you could use clearer less emotive language it would help.

By “support genocide” I understand you are saying “support the actions of Netanyahu’s government”. As it happens I deplore Netanyahu and his government and the horror that is going on in Gaza. But that is fundamentally irrelevant. If I happened to be a Netanyahu supporter that would not change my right to live here peacefully without being abused and threatened with violence.

by “continued (further) occupation of Palestinian land””. Could be anyone’s guess given your words so far. I rather took that as the existence of the state of Israel itself given your general tone. If you’re talking about the settlements, I abhor them too. But guess what? It shouldn’t matter!

the idea that you get to decide who is an “innocent Jew” and who is not is equally abhorrent to me. The approach you take- to demand to know my views as though you are some arbiter (who made you boss?) is extraordinarily egocentric.

And it is utterly terrifying that you cannot conceive that there are other views that should be allowed to co exist.

Well said.

Its going to fall on deaf ears though.

I dont agree its a genocide. People just use that word over and over. I also dont agree with countries or organisations that have termed it as one either. It doesnt fit the criteria.

The world does agree it isa genocide.

Simplestars · 07/10/2025 08:32

Lots of Israelis applying for citizenship to Poland. They claim through their grandparents heritage. This gives them the right to reside in Europe. Don't think they want to go live in Poland just gets them the European passport.

Lots of love.
