I have an essay to write
I would rather practice my piano
I don't want to work any more
I want to sit under a blanket and watch Netflix
I am so over this working for a living lark

Why else don't you want to go to work tomorrow?

Because I resigned at the end of last week.

My motivation was rock bottom with micromanagement and lack of autonomy but now I really have ZERO motivation, but mercifully only a 2 week notice period.

I would rather be looking for a new job, because, yes, I am that moron who resigned with nothing to go to.

Not a moron.
You can’t tell the future.

Feel empowered that you could quit and enjoy that.If it felt right it was right. Trust in the universe that better will come along.

DareMe · 05/10/2025 16:55

Because my manager is one of the most controlling, dictating, manipulative, disingenuous people I’ve ever had the misfortune to meet.

canchewcashew · 05/10/2025 16:54

--Most of Saturday was taken up with an event I 'had' to attend. It was nice to see everyone, but it doesn't feel like a real Saturday to me when there's something I 'have' to do. The weekend feels shorter and less satisfying.

--I don't know what I'm doing for some of our clients this month, which will mean extra effort just to get started. (It's not actually that bad. I'm being lazy.)

--I want to spend more time playing with my watercolours and new-found fude nib fountain pen sketching hobby.

Anon9898 · 05/10/2025 16:53

I want to do work tomorrow. I enjoy it. As a nd person gives me structure and I need to count the first aid kits.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 05/10/2025 16:52

Because it'll be another day of doing four people's work for the salary of one, punctuated by various missives from people who do not understand the legal, technical and logistical restrictions and just want what they want done now even if it is literally impossible - especially when the instructions are to drop everything and do this one (massive and frequently impossible) thing now, to be followed up by another irate missive demanding to know why the ten other things that had to be stopped haven't been done as others making equal demand have complained to them.

AiryFairy1 · 05/10/2025 16:52

Because I only ‘go’ to work in my front room - would really love to commute (but only 2-3 days a week!)
Because I have a task list as long as my arm, but I land up having to deal with email queries as a priority (usually so I can put the ball back their court / get them off my back)
Because I’d love a week off at home while the kids are in school to get on top of housework, meals, prepare an itinerary for our holiday abroad at Christmas time… we’ve left it a bit late and now lots of stuff is booked up already and DH is mad (it’s to his home country and he hasn’t been that enthusiastic about it as his mum died earlier this year and she won’t be there 😞) because it’s becoming a hassle and will likely cost waaaay more now. I don’t think he really wants to go at all now 🥺

Mumof2amazingasdkiddos · 05/10/2025 16:50

I haven't had a day off in over 10yrs. I'm the only person that does my job. I was almost ready to do time in prison due to my job today. I haven't slept a full night in weeks and only the odd phase of decent sleep in the past 5 years. I'm exhausted.
Anyone guess my job 😂

Nickisli1 · 05/10/2025 16:50

Ive got a presentation ive not prepped for at the end of the day, so that will end up being the whole day. I should really have done some work today to take the pressure off tomorrow, but I didn't so now im dreading tomorrow 😫

Because Im still done in from last week...nhs worker. I never seem to recover from the mental and physical exhaustion of it all.

I retired from the NHS a few years ago (mental health) and I will never forget the feeling of bliss on the first day my alarm woke me and I realised that I could turn it off and never have to go there ever again! I did enjoy elements of my job but the constant re-oganisation, cuts, change of managers, the feeling of running fast but never catching up and always feeling tired really got to me

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 05/10/2025 16:43

Well I took vol redundancy so not at work tomorrow. But I don’t want to have to deal with sorting out a starting date for a job offer as I think there has been a misunderstanding about travel requirements and I don’t want to ask because I’m going to have to take the job anyway and just hope that it works out 🫣🫣

BigOldBlobsy · 05/10/2025 16:40

Because I’m on duty , and I’ve had no sleep due to DC waking up loads, and I’ve been caring for my grandma and cleaning all day so the weekend has flown by! I want to be part time 😭

misspositivepants · 05/10/2025 16:40

It’s the start of the legal redundancy group consultation tomorrow, expectation is if you are due to be made redundant, they won’t be accepting voluntary redundancy. So I’ll have potential 45 days of the unknown and then a months notice after that. I was formally advised 2 weeks ago I was ‘at risk’ so to be honest I’m already worn out with it all.

QueenStevie · 05/10/2025 16:39

Because I have hurt my back and I'm an early years teacher so not really a job in which you can rest a sore back.

Shayisgreat · 05/10/2025 16:39

chasegirl · 05/10/2025 16:27

Civil service?

Social work?

Shayisgreat · 05/10/2025 16:36

Because I dislike my current role and want to leave.
Because some of my colleagues are just a bit shit.
Because I have too much on my plate to complete and I'm overwhelmed.
Because I'd rather play tennis.
Because my house needs to be decluttered and I don't want to waste my weekends decluttering.
Because I'm watching House of Guinness and would like to binge watch the rest.
Just...can't be arsed really!

I'll still go in tomorrow but it's really really painful at the moment.

Fgfgfg · 05/10/2025 16:32

I have too much work and not enough time.
I have a manager that tries to flatter me into doing parts of her job. Does she think I'm stupid and can't see what she's doing with the 'oh but you're really good at this'?
I want my life back
I have other things to do
I want to take photographs
I want to clean my house and sort things out before it falls down
I want to focus on my health, which is not good
I'm too old for this shit

TheGoldenGhouls · 05/10/2025 16:31

My kids are off school and I really want to spend the day with them. I’ve also lost all motivation and I’m really just going through the motions at this point.

Yourlifeinyourhands · 05/10/2025 16:30
  • My work is a bit boring and we are particularly quiet right now which is a tad soul destroying
  • Id rather stay in bed and watch Netflix with my dog

Because on Monday I tell my manager that she has made a decision that impacts me negatively, to the point I have to leave, ( and I had planned to work another 3 years before retiring so my financial plans are now scuppered)

I was planning to work another couple of years until 60 but now desperately trying to make it work to finish earlier. DH not on board really with this idea though !

SapphireSeptember · 05/10/2025 16:29

Because I'm a stay at home mum... Bloody miss my pre DS days!

Harriet9955 · 05/10/2025 16:28

I dislike my job and only have 5 months of my fixed term contract left. It's really hard to get through each day at the moment. Trying to claw my way through to the end of March but it's hard not to pack it in earlier.
