Why is everyone such a wet lettuce?

Hand-wringing over badges. Upset over name origins. The list goes on and on.

Are people just bored and want some attention online or something?

It's my own fault for reading threads on here, and having other social media I guess!

I am usually very easy going and don't often take any notice of the wet lettuces.

However I have been a bit incredulous over the adverts thread where people wouldn't eat a Yorkie bar because of the ad, and the one where people are talking about eating foods they don't like.
Life is too bloody short. Get over yourselves.

Hey, I'm traumatised after having to eat tinned sardines 😂

BustyLaRoux · 01/10/2025 15:57

Oh. I found the bin thread. I kind of wish I hadn’t as I feel a bit triggered now….

Seriously, someone’s offended over anything and everything now. I literally couldn’t give less of a fuck about anything anyone does

12345abcdefg · 01/10/2025 15:52

I enjoy lettuce and find being compared to one in a derogatory manner to be triggering and, quite frankly, an insult to the hardworking farmers who grow the lettuce.

Do better.

I saw a video yesterday about how to get mentally prepared for winter. Splitting out the weeks into zones and what needs to be done in those to get through mentally.

Or you could….go about your life as usual with a coat and hat and turn the lights on earlier.

Oh jeez!!! I’ve heard it all….

ThatOneStupidPheasant · 01/10/2025 15:48

Not everyone has that thick, working class resilience. Enjoy it.
Mumsnet is fast becoming a tabloid fuelled dumpster fire, it takes up to 4 mins most of the time for a browser to load the cringey ads.

Best to only pop on for something worthwhile, which isn't often!

I'm having a good old whinge here, ironically. My god social media is dreary - just people moaning, 'spreading awareness', wanging on and on about shit that happened decades/centuries ago.

It's altogether very boring.

you choose the wrong social media.

Say what now?

🤣🤣

LizTruss · 01/10/2025 15:42

I AM NOT A LETTUCE - wet or dry! 😡

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 01/10/2025 15:38

It's an improvement on last week's problem of someone's mum thinking they don't open their curtains "correctly".
And them actually caring about that.

StewkeyBlue · 01/10/2025 15:37

I don't think MN as a whole is representative of the population, as is perhaps natural with a critical mass of people who live their life glued to a website and SM while increasingly being unwilling to answer the door, speak with strangers, go to a social event, take public transport, go to the cinema alone, drive on a motorway, countenance fireworks on Nov 5th, socialise with anyone from extended family at Christmas etc etc.

Donostiera · 01/10/2025 15:36

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 01/10/2025 15:35

Someone's neighbour failed to take their bins in, the horror 🙀

Lmnop22 · Today 10:37
I love that you think they’re being petty when you’re deliberately not moving bins that are blocking your drive just so you can feel angry that someone else hasn’t moved them yet 😬

OP: It makes me feel sick touching bins tbh. I can do my own but no I’m not doing a task I loathe for someone who’s more than capable of doing it.

I agree op. We call them a wetter where I’m from 😆

You can't even wish for snow on here without someone carrying on like you are personally manifesting a conga line of broken hips and wrists at A&E.

Looooool!! Indeed you can't.

Ditto wishing for sun, rain, drizzle, mist, fine, fair, any other type of weather - someone will have a whinge

Entitled 'bad neighbour etiquette'. [checks that@gorlomi is not the OP of that one]

Haha you're safe. Wasn't me.

in fact, I opened that thread earlier and even I couldn't be bothered to finish the op such was the pathetic nature of it all

I feel bad moaning but it's also feels really good.

I've been into a lot of history videos on YouTube recently and it amazes me that our society is like this in such a relatively short amount of time.

Maybe Covid was an accelerant.

wwyd2021medicine · 01/10/2025 15:29

I agree completely
Honestly just too much effort to mither on about such nonsense
I'm glad you had a moan though as I though I had had some sort of empathy bypass and thought it was just me
