Interesting that a recent channel 4 news segment was about a new wave of " auditors " i have been watching them for about five years, so not new. I know the uk was late to the party ,as first ammendment auditors across the pond have been around for about 10. Just wondered anyone on here watches...and who they watch ??
AIBU = Never heard of them
YANBU = watch them, I know who they are.

The "auditors" are very tiresome people. I am actually in one of their silly little videos (from MANY years ago) and am still not very happy about it! Someone came and filmed at my workplace, including footage of my colleagues going in and out, and acted like a dick when he was required to leave. They're not citizen journalists, they're wankers.

I think that's just vlogging. I haven't seen his downloads recently. Not my cup of tea.

He has definitely described himself as an auditor in the last. A drone is just one method of auditing, doesn’t have to use a drone for it to still be auditing.

I’d love for you to get an answer to that @Okiedokie123 but it doesn’t seem to be forthcoming

Oops sorry !!

Tell us why you watch them

I think it's important to document how things are changing. Landscapes and people's attitude to someone holding a camera. First photo was taken about 100 years ago, and I like seeing how they dressed the houses, streets. When I was young anyone took a photo I was desperate to be in it !! I find it odd in a world of 4k everybody wants privacy, in a world ever move you make is documented. Auditors are filming. Am interested.

Okiedokie123 · 30/09/2025 19:10

Why do you watch them OP? Why are they in your opinion interesting?

Okiedokie123 · 30/09/2025 19:07

Something that’s been happening for about 10 years isn’t new new…….but is a long way off from being old. Also I would argue it’s only become more well known in the last couple of years. ie gaining viewers, popularity. Ergo “a new trend” for most people who hear of it.

They turn up at my work sometimes and make a nuisance of themselves. Utterly pointless waste of their time (because there is nothing interesting to film) and the staff who have to deal with them. Given the nature of my employer…. That means it’s people’s council tax they are wasting.

I watch a lot of weird and wonderful docs on YouTube. Never auditors. What’s the point?

EmeraldRoulette · 30/09/2025 19:03

I only came across these because of the protests

as you are particularly interested in drones, I should say I didn't even know that was happening until last week. So my teply is probably not any use to you. I have long thought that we needed to address the drone issue and we even had one around our development over the summer! It was only seen once, but everyone freaked out and I don't blame them. Hopefully that one was just a kid.

I didn't know that these "auditors" had been harassing people for ages, I only found out last week

what are the drone people trying to achieve?

I would say there is a divide. Even between "responsible" citizen journalists and these self styled auditors. there's probably a sliding scale of how responsible they are as well. I think some of them are due in court.

I think there's a massive difference between filming a protest in a responsible way and between going onto private property and just trying to have a nose.

It's been a puzzle for me morally because I can see why they were trying to expose some of the things they were trying to expose

Another massive issue for privacy laws to try and tackle. There's been other threads on this, but I tried campaigning for better privacy laws some years ago and everyone thought I was nuts including my MP

So I wonder if these "auditors" might actually prompt some action. it's like people can't think ahead.

Yes i don’t think he’s ever used a drone but he’s certainly done hand held filming/auditing and gets into arguements about his legal right to film anyone/anything from a public space.

I think that's just vlogging. I haven't seen his downloads recently. Not my cup of tea.

Not a clue, are you doing some sort of market research as that seems to be your only question, as opposed to actually engaging with a conversation

Ahhh..the big v, yes it saw that too. Hes a major political flip floper, just for clicks. I don't think he has ever used a drone. Iam more interested in the rights of photographers / using a drone in public.

Just the most crap awful trend.

People going out looking for a fight to get clicks and views.

Really pathetic.

That's the thing tho...they really are not a new trend. Why does channel 4 ...and you think that ?

DJ audits has a drone, (David)
PJ audits,
AB

Over the years many have come out that just want arguments, and clicks.
Who do you watch I like a good drone watch.

My dad watches them, occasionally they used to pop up on tik tok. They’re odious, inadequate, argumentative, attention seeking pricks with no actual purpose - unless you’re going to enlighten us @Shudahaddogs

Some of them make a living from it. Social media plays well if you have enough followers. They’re not bothered about the drone footage, etc most of the time….they are hoping for someone to kick off, the argument is what gets the viewings.

I would hope they all make a living from it. Photography , cctv is everywhere, dash cams, everone has a camera in their hand. Drones capture the whole area as it is today.

One of the "migrant auditors" took his channel down after he was discovered to be a paedophile.

😄 yes definitely some are!! But you do know about them. Who have you watched ?

I've got no idea "who I've watched". I'm aware of their existence and I've seen enough assorted clips to make it clear who they are and what they are about.

I don’t go searching on YouTube for them but they come up on my fyp on tiktok a lot. Most of the time they’re annoying twats but must admit I sometimes find the police heavy handed twats who don’t know the law when dealing with them and that also annoys me.

i saw a funny video of some auditor who shat his pants when some guys decided to try and give him a hiding. Epic footchase, he was running through warehouses, went across a railway line at some point, on the phone to the police screaming for help (ironic), lost his drone or camera at some point and was sobbing about it at the end.

Charlie Veitch is a well known Manchester twat who seems to have moved on from auditing to generally baiting homeless people and shoplifters. But there’s an old great video of his where he was trying to audit a couple with a nice house and land in the middle of nowhere. He’d left his car on their lane, they asked him to leave , he refused, they blocked him in and we and sat in the garden and shut the gate and ignored him begging. He had to call his dad to pick him up. Serves him right.

Knowing about them because you watched 30 seconds of one of them while wearing this face Hmm as part of a 'let's not have this happen again' awareness session doesn't count as watching them for interest of entertainment.
