To be in tears about what Billy Crystal said?

We were on a train and he was really rude about what I’d cooked. It was some sort of cheese casserole. It’s the first time I made it but I thought it tasted ok.

He also took the last seat at the table so I had to sit on my own. He ended up admitting the casserole tasted better than he’d initially thought but it was too late. I was so crushed that I woke up in tears.

I’m no stranger to night time disappointment; Many’s the time I’ve had to have words with DH first thing in the morning because he’s cheated.

But I thought better of Billy.

These are so funny!
I have very vivid dreams.

Once I developed a crush (in my dream) on Gordon Brown and in that dream we were snogging - it was super hot (in the dream).
It was quite a long dream and there were many phases to it but basically he was a very attractive ladies man (I am NOT attracted to these types at all!!), suave and sophisticated.
And hot?!

I never really worked out why. He was still just Gordon Brown, with his voice, and wearing a suit, and everything.

I once had a similar dream about Ian Hislop. He was a very tender, caring lover.

I just assumed a cheese casserole was an American thing. I think their version of 'casserole' is different to ours, isn't it?

I had a similar one about Nick Clegg - a few years ago, when there was a coaltion government and we were living in different times. In my dream, he was surprisingly forceful and authorative, in a good way. Couldn't watch him in the HoC after that without a bit of a tingle.

YABVVU. Cheese casserole is the food of the very worst of nightmares. As it happens I was in the next compartment and the smell of the casserole was making me barf. I woke up and had to run for the loo.

Is cheese casserole like corn pudding? Did anyone start dancing whilst treading a fine line between looking cheerful and deranged?

My (very nice in real life) MIL was staying with us, shortly after I had my youngest child - so I had a newborn and a toddler.

MIL told my husband she didn't think I was pulling my weight around the house - wasn't doing nearly enough ironing and was expecting him to do too much. In my dream, my husband agreed with her, and said he could totally see where she was coming from.

I could barely speak to him for the rest of the next day, and ten years later, I still haven't completely forgiven MIL for that thing she didn't actually say.

😂 Poor MIL!

I also want to give a 😂and a 👏to the poster who hit Donald Trump with a garden spade.

Dh is a complete bastard to me in my dreams, and takes no responsibility for it even though it’s obvious that my subconscious has to balance out how lovely he is to me during the day, so it is his fault.

I bet your cheese casserole was lovely Confused Shame on Billy

You don’t have sleep apnea op? Vivid dreams can be a sign

Is a cheese casserole the same as a fondue?

DBD1975 · 30/09/2025 12:22

Cheese casserole a casserole made of cheese!🤣

ThreeLocusts · 30/09/2025 12:22

Ooh thanks everyone, I got a few chuckles out of this thread.

Nothing more interesting going on in my dreams than a garden border dispute. Concerning a garden and a neighbour I don't have, and in fact a Hyacinth-Bucket-ish version of myself that I hope never comes true.

Maybe my subconscious is telling me that I could be worse.

Deadringer · 30/09/2025 12:16

Cornflakes 😫

Renamed · 30/09/2025 12:15

Also just googled cheese casserole and found this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funeral_potatoes

hash browns, chicken soup, cheese, onions and cornflakes! Mmm. Maybe Billy could have been a bit more tactful, but really…

I hit Donald Trump round the head with a garden spade last night because he was stalking me - I am a fat 67 year old gran, so not his ususal type!

ohreallyIsee · 30/09/2025 12:04

Myself, the manager and several members of staff had barricaded ourselves in the pharmacy dispensary and were fighting off a horde of zombies! I know some customers can be difficult but still 😂

TheJessops · 30/09/2025 11:57

What on earth is a cheese casserole?!

Homewardbanned · 30/09/2025 11:48

i took my dads boat that he owned in the seventies out last night. I handled it pretty well around the Dubai marina and moored it. Slowly it sank to the bottom and when I got back there it was on the bottom of the river. A man got a big balloon under it to try to float it but sadly the process failed.

I saw somebody trying on a dress in a particular 1950s print fabric of yellow, pink and black, and I am convinced I have actually seen this print somewhere IRL, maybe years ago in my grandmother’s house, it’s driving me mad.
Anyway she didn’t like it and chose a different dress which was part denim and part cream cotton with a blue and red print, with a kind of elf hat matching it. It was hand made and cost £8,963.

Apparently of you dream about someone it will be someone you’ve seen in real
life at some point even in passing so perhaps that also applies to printed fabric?

I woke up bawling my eyes out in the middle of the night; woke up hubby doing so. Apparently he had left me for one of my closest friends; they couldn’t understand why I was upset and thought I should be pleased for them. Took me a while to realise I’d been dreaming.

Then there was the dream where I was running a team of resistance operatives in a mash-up of ‘Allo ‘Allo and Dad’s Army. That one was really, really weird.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 30/09/2025 11:06

Bastard.

I interviewed a lovely group of lads who were the production team of a new surprise-hit indie film in my dreams last night.

I am not a journalist.

Menonut · 30/09/2025 11:03

My husband spent last night dragging me around a town I didn’t recognise trying to find a video rental store! We went in completely the wrong direction and never found the store! Apparently my 20 year old son found it but having never been to such a store before he had no clue what to do so we never got our video!

Bearwithi · 30/09/2025 10:55

I too was wondering what cheese casserole could be, but had a vague idea it would be one of those awful American recipes with the cans of soup that they're so obsessed with, turns out I'm right yeuch.

lcakethereforeIam · 30/09/2025 10:50

My fella left me when I fell asleep on the bus. I woke up in the depot, miles from home. Fortunately I realised he would never do this so I must be dreaming and I was able to fly back to the house. No very well, even in a dream I didn't really believe I could fly, I could barely clear the hedges.

I'm probably alone in thinking Bill Crystal was the worst thing about the Princess Bride, came close to ruining it imo, so I'm predisposed to thinking YANBU.

Dontcallmescarface · 30/09/2025 10:48

David Bowie isn't dead., he lives in cave in Cornwall...well that's what he told me anyway.
