I'm in Finland so sauna nights with work aren't unusual at all but you'd normally have separate male and female sessions so not inappropriate, but being the only woman there I didn't want to be left out, as all the chat happens in the sauna. I went by myself last time and was so bored so thought this was the better option but eww, testicles.

Was this a work event? Jesus Christ. Wholly inappropriate. I'm not blaming you for going along with it, but I wouldn't have for a second gone into a sauna with only male colleagues in my towel. I'd also be amazed any HR thought this was a fine idea.

Something that gave my the ick in the proper meaning of the word - we had a sauna night at work, I was the only woman so I suggested we all wear towels so we can have a mixed sex sauna and I wouldn't miss out on the all the conversation. By the end of the sauna everyone except me and one other guy had given up on towels and I saw things I can not erase from my mind no matter how hard I try. Proper ick.

Gentle reminders can get in the bin!

I’ve got a colleague that drives everyone insane with constant boasting in a loud voice, asks questions, but doesn’t let anyone get a word in to actually give an answer, has more time off than anyone else, but makes out she is indispensable. She talks over people, thinks she is hilarious and quite frankly has breath that could knock out a rhino.

Oh! And managers who send emails starting with ‘just a gentle reminder to……’

This week my manager begged me to cover for a colleague which I did so to a huge detriment to myself. I then saw the same sick colleague all over sm having a great time at an oasis concert. Then asked to cover again as she couldn’t come in as childrens teachers had inset day. I dragged myself in despite knowing that her other half does a job that doesn’t require him to work during school times. The ick you say! I’m blooming furious!😡

I once worked somewhere where everyone referred to each other by their initials….. definitely gave me the ick! They all thought it was cool!

A boss who throws a tantrum. This happened when the office was having a Christmas party and he was mixed up about what he was supposed to bring. He came in with a plastic container of punch. Someone remarked that they had brought the drinks and said. "Ed you were supposed to bring potato chips". Ed slammed the container on a desk and the lid popped off and liquid spewed all over. Then baby Ed went to his office and slammed the door. This same " boss" walked by my desk one day and I was eating butterscotch pudding at lunch. He remarked that it looked like baby poo.

That made me laugh out loud 🤣

Shouldn't real say this but perpetually positive colleagues that worry about everyone's well-being when not called for, even if you like them if you are slightly introverted and want to just concentrate on work this is a bit annoying.

I had a boss that spoke to me like I was a child and also a boss that constantly rings you to come to their office to almost highlight their position of them being in charge.

Forced workplace socialization

Had a supervisor who would come in and allocate us jobs, then fuck off to the canteen for a fried breakfast and sit down for an hour.

Even when they are not eating on camera now the ick means I can’t look at them!

Wanky LinkedIn posts blowing smoke up each other or even worse themselves- unless you are in a field that networking this way is critical it just feels cringe. Like I understand people that are self employed or in certain roles but a lot of it seems disingenuous.

Especially people that pay to go to conferences but phrase it as “I had an interesting discussion with these key note speakers”, almost implying they were on the panel basically.

The word ick gives me the ick.

My direct manager who was regularly vicious after a cocaine and booze comedown. Vile.

I had a stupid twat colleague who used to do similar. What is the point of making someone a drink that's unpalatable to them? I also had a work Christmas lunch rendered completely inedible by a domineering colleague squeezing lemon all over my dish "because it tastes better that way." Except that to me it then smells and tastes like Mr Muscle. Beyond gauche behaviour.

I had a colleague that liked 4 sugars in his tea. I refused to make it like that, and said 4 is ridiculous and you're having 2 at the most, he'd have to go back to the kitchen and get more if he could be bothered! We actually got on extremely well, it wasn't any major thing I just couldn't bring myself to put 4, (4!) sugars in a cup of tea.

I work from home full time now, sometimes I miss this petty little squabbles when making my own little tea for one!😄

Oh we had one of those as well in a job I had years ago.
His dad was my boss, and obviously thought his son was the best thing of the planet (only natural). Unfortunately his son, although very sweet, was absolutely terrible at the job. Managed to fill up the company van with the wrong fuel twice in a month (!) and was just not very bright. I feel bad saying it as he wasn't a bad guy at all. He "left" after a couple of months to do something else.
