Migrants get up to £2000 on bankcard after prison sentences

Just watched 47 migrants being deported, costing hundreds of thousands, private flights, huge number of security guards, the migrants then get given cash cards! Back to Romania after committing crimes here including murder, sexual offences, pedophiles with money to help them resettle in their own country.

ITV news - our own go hungry and cold.

We are total mugs here in the UK.

On a separate story migrants having taxis to appointments, free NHS. I mean we have to get to our own way.

Mugs. No wonder many people are unhappy. These are convicted criminals, being pandered to.

Obviously some on mumsnet think it's funny that people are annoyed. Its pretty disgusting that so much money is wasted when people here have needs not met, health, education etc.

Well if the rich and corporations paid their way, we'd all be better off. Migrants are scapegoats for a party full of people who want to make a shed load of money out of the NHS and fossil fuels if they get in. Prople who vote for Reform.better find deep pockets to pay their health insurance when that lot get in. You must all.need your heads examining.

Don't you want them.gone..Sounds like a good way of getting rid of them..

Bank cards with up to £2000 on them. They are criminals. Murder, sex criminals, etc. Romanian, not in any danger.

As someone else said, it’s cheaper than having them here in prison.

Your OP mentions our own going cold and hungry, so do you think we should give people on benefits more benefits? (“Our own” of course, whatever that actually means)

The NHS is a failing and flawed model which has outgrown what it was first expected to do
It's been a lifeline for me this year, it's been brilliant.

Lifesd · 25/09/2025 01:17

SparklingRivers · 25/09/2025 00:50

Really it is. Its stretched because we are now treating thousands of extra people with more complex conditions who decade's back would've already died.
It's far better than the US system which is flooded with money.

Why is the US always the comparator when talking about health? I live in Australia and have lived in European countries and the systems here and there are far superior to the NHS - yes there are some costs attached but as a PP said with what we pay in NI you could have far better access and choice to health services through a private provider. AND there is a safety net for those on the lowest incomes which doesn’t result in people not getting treatment. The NHS is a failing and flawed model which has outgrown what it was first expected to do.

I would feel utterly betrayed at that if I was a victim of their crime. However I can see the logical mindset- someone with some money to restart is less likely to commit crime instantly again.
It's sensible as part of rehabilitation.. and I don't care which country they're from/going to there will be vulnerable children and women there too.
However ideally their own country should be providing the money - and funding or facilitating the prison sentence really.

Sex crimes are not crimes of financial acquisition so £2000 isn't going to protect any woman or child from them.

EsmaCannonball · 25/09/2025 00:53

sleepwouldbenice · 25/09/2025 00:37

Because that would cost more than £2k and is dangerous...

Hth...

Not from Albania or Romania, especially when the organised crime group you will be committing crimes for is facilitating your UK entry. In fact, even from North Africa the cost of paying people smugglers has gone down in the last couple of years due to the sheer numbers of people migrating. Some people are paying less than £150O to travel out of Libya.

JMSA · 25/09/2025 00:52

Mugs. OP, you are absolutely right.

Is the NHS amazing? Heath outcomes in the UK are not great, have you seen the stories today about Blackpool vic? The NHS needs drastic reform and it is utterly unsustainable in its current model and the additional population is putting additional strain on it. No political party has the balls to actually tackle the problem - perhaps reform will.

They give them money to get them to agree to go. The £2k is far less than the cost of housing them and all the court time and paperwork etc if they don't agree to leave voluntarily.

Then return with another fake identity

Hi Nige.

Ridiculous comment 🙄

EsmaCannonball · 25/09/2025 00:29

What's to stop them having a nice visit home and then using the £2000 to come straight back here (through illegal channels if they are on some kind of watchlist) to commit more crimes? We have a system that is built on naivety.

Another reason I would never vote for them.. The NHS is amazing and I'm not about to vote to put it in danger.

I’d take getting ill anywhere back in France over running the gauntlet with hordes of the unwashed in an NHS A&E
Well, aren't you delightful. 🙄

Whether Starmer is personally making the taxi calls or not is irrelevant. It’s undeniable that Labour are doing an awful job. Truly, unbelievably awful. Worse than the Tories,
and I really didn’t think that was possible.
I cannot believe how economically illiterate they are. This country is going to be in a terrible state in another 4 years. It’s going to be bad for everyone except illegal migrants and human rights lawyers at this rate.

See, I'm feeling a bit more positive under Labour rather than the years of Tories - starting to see more police out walking the streets, looking out for people, and a rise in doctors appointments.
So all this doom mongering isn't my experience.

Happyjoe · 25/09/2025 00:13

24karatPalamino · 25/09/2025 00:01

More than happy to welcome immigrants who come here to work and we know who they are and where they are from. If they turn out to be criminals, then they should be deported forcefully.

Not so happy to host people who ditch their identification/docs. We should know who is entering our country, so we can be sure they aren’t criminals.

Until recently certain countries seemed to be exempt from even having to disclose any criminal past when applying for a visa and it's also down to the home office to double check the rest - I wonder how much attention is paid to that in reality, is every visa checked, even for holiday makers or students? If so, do they even have access to another country's records?. It's insane how far too easy going the UK is/was.

Ryah76 · 25/09/2025 00:10

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:19

Crazy. Just deport with no money.

If it was as easy as ‘just deport’, it would be done. Therefore if it is possible to convince those individuals to voluntarily return- it saves the UK money -removes undesirables from our communities, to me it’s a no brainier

Vinvertebrate · 24/09/2025 23:33

Or bus fare? Who the hells takes a taxi hundreds of miles, even if they have a decent income? It increasingly feels like Labour are trolling us.

I would be very surprised to hear that the taxi policy has only been in place since July last year. I don't think you should be singling out Labour for responsibility for this.

OwlBeThere · 25/09/2025 00:08

Wkanznjs · 24/09/2025 22:22

Not sure why us spending tax payers' money on criminals is "yawn". It's shocking when you consider the state of health, education and everything else in this country.

My politics are in the centre - and I would like to see the left and right collaborate rather than fight, but comments like "Hi Nige" and "Yawn" actually make me feel more inclined to vote Reform next time.

Then you’re stupid. Voting for a proven liar because some total stranger on mumsnet said ‘Yawn’ to yet another post to beat immigrants with. People are tired of having this discussion, that’s what he yawn is for.

If a certain proportion of Brits are criminals it's therefore obvious that a certain proportion of immigrants might be too.

But people forget that the large majority of immigrants are law-abiding good people, many of whom have fled persecution or war-zones, or simply want a better life. It's not fair that they are all tarred with the same brush, especially when threads like this spread misinformation. It just leads to racism and hate crimes.

They are trying, which is more than the tories who gave up on immigration (and allowed record number of legal migrants in) and to say worse under tories is unfair.

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 23:47

I watched the ITV programme, if the information is incorrect its down to the way the programme presented it.

I watched the ITV report and I thought the journalist said the cash cards were given to "some" (not all) of the deportees. Presumably those who agreed not to contest deportation, went quietly, etc., so saving the cost of expensive legal appeals.

I agree this point should have been emphasised more, both in the report and in the interview with the Home Secretary that followed.

Letstradegums · 24/09/2025 23:57

24karatPalamino · 24/09/2025 23:43

I hate this argument. Yes, we have loads of criminals. There are some really shitty British citizens, born and bred.

But that doesn’t mean we add to them.

If I could kick those British criminals out of the country I would, but sadly we have no choice but to tolerate them and house them in prison, or pray they don’t beat, rape or murder us.

But I repeat, that’s not a reason to invite more criminals into the country and keep them here.

You’re right, we have enough to worry about.

If a certain proportion of Brits are criminals it's therefore obvious that a certain proportion of immigrants might be too.
