Migrants get up to £2000 on bankcard after prison sentences

Ihatetomatoes · 24/09/2025 22:14

Just watched 47 migrants being deported, costing hundreds of thousands, private flights, huge number of security guards, the migrants then get given cash cards! Back to Romania after committing crimes here including murder, sexual offences, pedophiles with money to help them resettle in their own country.

ITV news - our own go hungry and cold.

We are total mugs here in the UK.

On a separate story migrants having taxis to appointments, free NHS. I mean we have to get to our own way.

Mugs. No wonder many people are unhappy. These are convicted criminals, being pandered to.

But they are here and many come for a good reason so your point is irrelevant.

I'd rather be a millionaire but I'm not.

You sound defeated my dear.

This is the voluntary scheme, yes? They're incentivised to return home because it is far less complex, and subsequently far less expensive, for us to process.

They aren't illegal immigrants or asylum seekers. They are people who lived here with the right to remain.

The taxi costs for asylum seekers is due to health care provision not moving with the individual when they move them across the country and isn't the norm. Or do you think we should be expecting an asylum seeker to make their own way on a 250 mile trip to see a doctor, paying from their £9 a week?

They are criminals? Any foreign national who breaks the law in the UK should be deported with no money or 'incentives' whether they live here with right to remain or not - that privilege should be taken away as soon as you break the law. I wonder how many other countries would tolerate this.

The bottom line is that the £2000 is the very least of it, and the overall cost of illegal migration is mind boggling, mind blowing and too much for most people to fully grasp.

It’s not wrong to highlight the smaller amounts - but the overall picture is totally and utterly unsustainable.

Regardless of what the beared left say smoking pot and imagining a border less world where we float from one utopia to another uninterrupted.

I can’t tell you how I know in a professional capacity, but I will tell you now that the prosecutions of a certain demographic and custodial sentences that are given, they are
lined up for deportation, and in most cases they are back in the country stealing cars to order/other crime within the same area in under a month. Just with an alias and new ID.

The £2000 I am sorry to say is the very least of it, the harm and crime they are responsible for, not to mention the costs to the tax payers for long prison stays, court costs, police time, translators et al is absolutely eye watering. If only people knew the extent, perhaps it is best they don’t know….

I think this is really black and white thinking though - let them all in suggests a free for all with immigration when in reality there's very clear criteria for approved long term immigration status. Asylum seekers are only able to claim an allowance until their application is reviewed (the outdated approach to this process and inefficiency is not their fault nor should it be treated as such) and if they are granted leave to remain then they're here under genuine need at which point the vast majority then go into employment boosting our economy. This also makes up a tiny percentage of overall immigration. Other immigrants are not entitled to any benefits and need to work to supplement their income, again boosting our economy. Or there's international students who pay huge fees to study here supplementing higher education for local students. So really when you actually strip it back what we're talking about is people living here on expired visa's or who have gone off radar after a rejected asylum application who will be tracked down and most likely deported. They will not in the meantime be claiming benefits.

Immigration is central to our healthcare system. We have an ageing population and immigration will be something we rely on in years to come for manual jobs and many care related jobs. I personally have zero issue with immigrants living here who are paying their own way and contributing to taxes. I also have zero issue with my taxes being used to support those in genuine need of asylum which is everyone's human right to seek and I count myself fortunate that I've never been in a position to have to seek it. I would also point out that parts of the UK such as Northern Ireland have high levels of migration historically as a result of the troubles and further back the 'famine' which to my mind isn't a huge difference than anyone else fleeing war or seeking safety/opportunity for more security.

I would say that actually the failure in critical thinking applies to those who can't seem to recognise the differences in the failings and inefficiency of our home office system and the actual human beings at the mercy of it. Or who can't see through the transparency of the media campaign against migrants (of particular heritage let's be honest) to alleviate the accountability of government for the social issues they have created over many years of austerity, cuts and unfeasible spending. When people talk about 'illegal immigration ' in reference to anyone seeking asylum I absolutely roll my eyes because by law this is not illegal asylum and that is them parroting the carefully chosen language trotted out in the media to create scapegoats.

A load of words, not really saying much.

We don’t need a million immigrants a year. Or hundreds of thousands of illegal ones. There are millions on welfare who don’t work that could fill these jobs.

Far left fanatics use this language that our healthcare would not function. That is a choice. Healthcare would function if we trained our own people who currently sit around and burden the taxpayer even more. It’s a choice to bring in people on lower pay than locals would accept. The irony is that locals end up claiming benefits anyway so it costs more to take this approach.

And did you know that low paid migrants also get old. Shock horror. Who is going to look after them? More low paid migrants.

There’s a name for that. Ponzi Scheme. And they always collapse in the end.

Yes and soon we will be paying for all these “carers” to be cared for. We have imported a great deal of poor unskilled people. 50% of social housing in London alone is headed by first generation migrants.

I’m genuinely confused by the mindset of some people. So import lots of people who need to go on benefits just as the country is on the brink of bankruptcy.

I am fortunate own home outright and will have good pension. I genuinely don’t understand the poor supporting this happening to our country just not to look racist.

Having highly skilled migrants, bring it on! The last 25 years we’ve had a lot of unskilled immigration. My lifestyle has been affected by this and definitely younger people won’t have the experience and privileges I had. I’m 50 now. I’m totally confused it’s like people think you’ve got something personal against foreigners I don’t, but I’d rather live in a wealthier country that can look after its own.

Also Muslims will soon be the main religion here. This is a genuine question are these lefties happy about this? It’s started supermarkets and universities only selling halal products. I don’t think Muslims are too hot on supporting gay right or women’s rights either, this is what enviably will happen in schools and so on. If people want this to happen to our country, well it’s the majority decision I suppose.

A client said to me today that they didn’t think people who didn’t pay tax should be able to vote. I was horrified at first but I thought about it and think we’d certainly be a great deal wealthier and could support the poor better if it wasn’t just people voting for more benefits for themselves. Money we now don’t have.

I cannot get my head round the mindset of a pyramid type scheme of more and more unskilled people into the country to “care” for our elderly.

Perhaps someone could explain this without calling me a racist.

Oh great, we’ve now moved onto Muslim bashing 🤣

Rightos have been moaning about the Muslim population for decades but they still only represent 5% of the population, so no, Islam isn’t taking over Hmm

You’d like to direct people’s attentions to other problems, but many people feel this is one of the more important issues facing the country, and your attempts to minimise it by dismissing the numbers as small and insignificant is part of the problem. The number shouldn’t even be small - the number should be zero. And it’s not xenophobic to say so.

If you think we should literally have zero immigration then you're just beyond reasoning with

I said the numbers were small because THIS THREAD is about a small number. I don't know how to have a conversation with someone who can't manage to understand these things

Yes many people feel immigration is the biggest issue. Because they feel xenophobic.

We should have a government that is competent enough to manage the immigration that this country relies on.

It must be impossible for you to fathom, but illegal migrants don’t need to be on the backstreets. If they were not allowed to stay in the first place. It’s really not a hard concept to grasp.

And I don’t understand people with a ‘let them all in’ mentality, who fail to use their critical thinking skills to see what will happen in the future as opposed to this moment.

Got any evidence that Romanians (or any other nationals) are deliberately committing crimes to get themselves jailed for 12 months and then waiting for the convoluted process of deportation to end so they can get £2,000?

Because that looks like a very poor return on investment. All that effort for earning what equates to £100 per month?

Why would they do that when they could get more on Job seeker’s allowance?

I can’t tell you how I know in a professional capacity, but I will tell you now that the prosecutions of a certain demographic and custodial sentences that are given, they are

Have you seen how much Trump is spending on making it 'unprofitable to arrive'? He spent more on ICE in 6 months than the entire 15 years previous. ICE's budget is now greater than almost every country's military budget. The last cheque signed off to fund it was $170 billion.

I’d happily go to an insurance based health system. I pay way more in NI than I ever would on private healthcare, as does DH and we only have one child, who also pays NI.
I could get a bloody good policy for what I pay each month.

The NHS is also dreadful and not fit for purpose. I’m going deaf in one ear but can’t get an appointment with a GP around my work and have been advised that the wait time for an ENT appointment is years anyway. I can’t believe anyone would think that it doesn’t need reform.

Totally agree with you. In most areas the NHS is failing. It’s no longer working. Almost everyone I know who has had surgery has had to wait for years to get it done and has then picked up an infection in a dirty hospital. Maternity care is on its knees which results in far too many poor outcomes, A & E is over utilised due to the inability to get a GP appointment. Massive wastage and administrative cock ups, We need to start again, look at countries such as The Netherlands and France who both have excellent provision. People take advantage of the nhs as they see it as being ‘free’. It’s abused and needs top to bottom reform and yes, we should have to contribute.

I wonder what all of the fuss is about then? And why Labour are bleeding out in the approval polls? And why reform are gaining such widespread support across all classes up and down the country? All because of 47 people - JFC 🥴

In the three most recent national polls, Reform are leading Labour by 8%, 3% and 9%. Let’s average it to 7%. Not a fan of Starmer but Farage’s supporters are getting a bit ahead of themselves if they think a 7% lead four years before a general election is going to hold up - when basically every single Angry About Immigration voter is already factored in (they’ve been hovering around 30% for months) and Labour support is at its lowest possible ebb. All it needs is for Labour to change leader, or Starmer to start governing for the country rather than Daily Mail readers, and Labour will still win more seats at the next GE.

MeTooOverHere · 25/09/2025 07:44

Can someone pls give a summary for those of us who are from elsewhere and have no idea who Nige is or any of the other shorthand in this thread? Like maybe links to the article? 79%? Who is on benefits? Who is being moved across the country so they need taxis back?

Nigel Farage is the leader of Reform, a newly formed party who have very little in the term of policy detail but want us to believe that immigration is the primary issue in this country.

This is despite the fact that Nigel Farage was a significant reason we had Brexit which has seen a huge rise in the rise of small boats.

Nigel Farage portrays himself as anti-establishment and a "man of the people" despite the fact he went to one of the most exclusive schools in the country, was a city trader and set up a trust in the Isle of Man to offset his tax burden.

I can't find a recent poll which gives the 79% figure. You Gov recently did a poll and found that immigration is high up on the agenda but that perceptions of the British public were out of kilter with reality. Also, that polls do not differentiate between illegal (the thing that Nigel increased with Brexit) and legal immigration and the British public are being pushed to believe that illegal immigration is much higher than it is.

I'll start by saying I'm very liberal left leaning and pro immigration (though we've had an incompetent government that can't actually manage to create any infrastructure to support immigration, but that's another issue...)

The thing is, in the grand scheme of things is this a big deal? Do I think we should hand taxpayer money to murderers? When you put it like that, no. But it's overall cheaper than keeping them here or fighting their right to appeal.

Ultimately it's 47 people. The amount of money is negligible. There are so many more important issues facing this country, like the amount of untaxed wealth that could go to building the infrastructure we need. I'm tired of reformers harping on about immigrants to the detriment of every other issue and honestly just feels like an excuse for people to be xenophobic and I'm sick of it.

You’d like to direct people’s attentions to other problems, but many people feel this is one of the more important issues facing the country, and your attempts to minimise it by dismissing the numbers as small and insignificant is part of the problem. Nestingbirds · 25/09/2025 09:10

And the £600 taxis taking place? The billions being paid out to hotels? All just nothing?

That's not what this thread is about.

If the Tories hasn't created such a huge backlog to process immigrants we wouldn't be spending so much to house them while they wait to be processed. Am sick of seeing people blame immigrants for our government's failings. They didn't come here to spend 2 years in a small hotel room waiting to be processed. For the most part immigrants want to work and contribute and it's our government's fault that many can't for a long time
