Steeling sauces in weatherspoons

I went for lunch in weatherspoons, thre was two horrendously rough couple with a child eating a greggs sausage roll. They put sauces from the table in there bag. It's stealing plain and simple. I'm utterly appalled at some people these days.

@Dillydollydingdong "I'm a bit horrified at the snobbery here"

You can't have been here long, then.

AndSheDid · 25/09/2025 10:24

What happened next, OP? Did the Greggs-guzzling child take a drag on a fag, pull out a gun and hold up the rest of the Spoons clientele while the horrendously rough parents stole their wallets?

Do tell.

YYYDlilah · 25/09/2025 10:15

The clientele.

I'm a bit horrified at the snobbery here. What's wrong with Wetherspoons?

Sorry, not sure what you're saying 'no, not particularly' to in my post?

That it's particularly rough. They're doing the same thing - if the OP thinks they're rough for being there, then she's no different as she's there as well.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 24/09/2025 10:14

I'm not rough, so I only steal from hotels, not 'Spoons.
I take the little pots of jams & marmalade from the breakfast buffet.
I thought I was very discreet, until checking out one time, the concierge gave me a little carrier bag filled with them !

😁Very good!

It was painful, my brain still hasn’t forgiven me and my old English teacher would be rolling in his grave! 😁

Steeling with what?! Copper? Lead?

I always walk a mile in someone's shoes before I judge them. That way, I'll be a mile away and they won't have any shoes to chase me.

Anyone who walks a mile in my shoes can get to fuck, the thieving twat.

People are so quick to judge. You haven't walked in that couple's shoes. They may have been very poor. Or really hungry. They may have only been in Weatherspoons because they had stumbled through a time-portal from Victorian London, and were appalled at the prices. They may have been projections from an alternative reality in which ketchup sachets are sacred artefacts that need to be collected in order to earn additional years of life. It could be anything. You just don't know and yet you judge. People like you discust me. Their. I sed it.

No, not particularly. Which means they're no different from the OP, except they gave the kid something that it would eat whilst they probably ordered something for themselves.

It's 'rough' to lunch somewhere that's reasonably priced, quick and reliable, if not very exciting? I wouldn't usually want the full restaurant experience at lunchtime. Spoons is cheaper than, e.g. M&S cafe and helpfully highlights the items on the menu that are lower-calorie. If the weather is fine, I usually have a sandwich al fresco if I'm on a day trip, but if it's eating inside weather, Spoons is a decent option in my view.

If you're in a Spoons, I'm guessing that Las Iguanas meal with the boss cured you of your aversion to chains after all, OP.

Going to blame your spelling on red wine again?

Oh this is brilliant.

Bananamanananana · 23/09/2025 17:23

How many off thum was their op? Fore or to? Too couple sea?

gmgnts · 23/09/2025 17:21

Why were they eating a Greggs sausage roll in Wetherspoons? Is that not stealing, in that they were cheating Wetherspoons out of providing the sausage roll?

After lurking for months I've signed in to MN purely to like this.

I’m flattered. Thank you.

@BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind I could have gone in if I'd been prepared to bin my shopping - I obviously wasn't going to do that. There were three of us, so I left the others to go in while I took the shopping home. I can take or leave pubs.

I'm just shocked at the idea of anyone being turned away from a Spoons

….so you think the point of my post was an observation about the taking of sauces?

It’s just possible that, unbeknownst to my conscious self, I’m writing your posts in order to have this conversation with myself.

I just dislike inaccuracy. If your subconscious want to write posts on my behalf, please ask it to check its facts 😆

I’ve been known to snaffle a mustard sachet (or 5) from Spoons.
