Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

strangerandstranger · 21/09/2025 23:22

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

I don't think it's hyperbolic. I think it is true that USA has a major gun problem.

USA 120 guns / 100 people
Falkland Islands 60 guns/ 100 people (most dumped on the ground after the war)
Yemen 52 guns/ 100 people (2nd decade of a civil war)
Everywhere else trails a long way behind.

USA has constitutional right to bear arms - meaning if you have the money and can find one for sale, you are entitled to own a fighter jet. 100's of people own their own tanks.

91% of American citizens want better gun control. Monied interests continue their opposition by buying favour. If you haven't already seen it, this doco is enlightening.

And we have such a problem with tank violence!

🙄

Do you think it's helpful to label widely held views as hate or violent speech?

A hateful view is still a hateful view even if it’s widely held.

lifeturnsonadime · 23/09/2025 10:27

BerylSnow · 23/09/2025 10:13

Here.

Apologies I missed that.

So @HaveItOffTilICough doesn't find Charlie Kirks views on gun ownership hateful.

But another poster on here has clarified that they do.

BerylSnow · 23/09/2025 10:25

It's not wrong to call out hateful speech, regardless of how many people hold that view. I gave examples earlier.

lifeturnsonadime · 23/09/2025 10:24

HaveItOffTilICough · 23/09/2025 10:18

Are you saying it’s impossible to have a hateful opinion?

No.

I do think there is a tendency for people to say that anything they don't agree with is hate even when it is an widely held opinion of others.

I didn't agree with a lot of things Charlie Kirk said but I wouldn't call it hate speech, he was entitled to his opinion and his 'gig' was to defend his opinion, he put himself forward to be challenged.

Do you think it's helpful to label widely held views as hate or violent speech?

Can you see no connection with labelling views and people feeling justified in violence against views that they consider hateful?

Meanwhile, the left were planning to turn up at his memorial and threaten people

"The left"? Who exactly are "the left"?

An amorphous mass who all think the same, who speak for - and represent - each other AT ALL TIMES.

Everyone on 'the left' is to blame for Charlie Kirk's murder.

The left are any people who claim they are left, anyone can be left 😉

HaveItOffTilICough · 23/09/2025 10:13

Why are you obsessing over the word “hateful”? Why do you think it’s such a game-changer?

Yes, it’s bizarre.

Kirk was a racist, misogynist bigot. That is pretty hateful!

HaveItOffTilICough · 23/09/2025 10:18

lifeturnsonadime · 23/09/2025 10:15

Because where opinions are hate and words are literal violence this is used to justify physical violence.

It is impossible to have a sensible debate on those terms.

Are you saying it’s impossible to have a hateful opinion?

That was my post you quoted. Do you understand how commas and the word “and” work when separating items in a list?

Here.

Plastictreees · 23/09/2025 10:06

@lifeturnsonadime Why are you being so combative? I was just saying that I didn’t realise you were dyslexic, as I wouldn’t have made a comment about your reading comprehension.

As an aside, that poster has clarified what they meant (which was always clear IMO).

When did the poster I quoted clarify they did not class his views on gun ownership as hate?

lifeturnsonadime · 23/09/2025 10:09

BerylSnow · 23/09/2025 10:05

You may not be wrong, but you haven't provided the evidence you think you have. The preaching hate statement in that sentence is stand alone. The following statements are not related to the preaching hate one. The comma is crucial, and not a semi colon. She doesn't appear to have given examples of where he preached hate.

Edited

Blimey. So despite the fact that they have listed examples of how he preached hate, including ones definitely about guns you are interpreting it differently because s/he used a comma not a semi colon?

This is a thread on the internet not a fucking secondary school english lesson.

This is a stupid argument anyway. A poster has subsequently confirmed they believe it is hate.

As have many other people all over the internet, there was quite a lot of glee over the irony as I recall at the time he was shot.

And people will swallow it. Look at this thread.

and for some reason you don't think that this poster was saying Charlie Kirk was 'preaching hate' regarding gun ownership/ the right to bear arms?

I may be dyslexic but I think it is you who is having a major comprehension failure.

There has now been another poster stating categorically that they believe his views on guns is hateful.

So what exactly are you trying to argue? That I am wrong that some posters find his view on gun ownership hateful?

@MeTooOverHereexamples where he actively spoke in contradiction to Christ’s teachings

I've had a long and tiring day so logging off now.
Lifted from JoJofromJerz substack.

"So, let’s put Kirk’s words next to the words of the man (Cardinal Timothy) Dolan claims he modeled:
Charlie Kirk: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”
Jesus: “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.”
Charlie Kirk: “You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously.” (about Michelle Obama, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and other Black women)
Jesus: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Charlie Kirk: “If you’re a WNBA, pot-smoking, Black lesbian, do you get treated better than a United States marine?”
Jesus: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
Charlie Kirk: “You’re in your early 30s. I’m sorry; you’re not as attractive in the dating pool as you were in your early 20s … you’re not at your prime …”
Jesus: “For God does not show favoritism.”
Charlie Kirk: “MLK was awful … We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s.”
Jesus: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
Charlie Kirk: “George Floyd was a scumbag.”
Jesus: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.”

One voice shrugged at funerals, scapegoated the vulnerable, cast suspicion on skin color, demeaned women of color, mocked lesbians, reduced women’s worth to youth and beauty, sneered at civil rights, and stripped away human dignity. The other voice welcomed children, embraced the marginalized, shattered prejudice, leveled the playing field of human value, preached mercy, declared equality, blessed the pursuit of justice, and insisted every life had worth. One voice trafficked in contempt; the other embodied love."

The historic event will likely be one of the largest and most consequential in American history,

The team at @TrumpStudents & Turning Point Action are honored to help make this happen, sending 80+ buses full of patriots to DC to fight for this president.

A tweet sent a day or so before those "patriots" stormed the Capitol and tried to lynch Mike Pence. The tweet was later deleted but the Internet never forgets:
<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20210107060012/twitter.com/charliekirk11/status/1346271038011625472" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://web.archive.org/web/20210107060012/twitter.com/charliekirk11/status/1346271038011625472

All this talk of "fight for this president" (who had just lost an election and was reluctant to go) rather sounds like inciting violence to me.

Didn't Christ preach love thy neighbour?

Kirk loved his neighbours under certain conditions. They weren't gay, trans etc etc.

I'll caveat this by saying I know sweet FA about Christ.
