Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

I have said nothing racist.

Do you not believe thinking black people are more violent than white people while refusing to consider any other factors might be problematic? Do you not believe that's racist in any way?

I reported your posts for racism and they got deleted, so that doesn’t compute I’m afraid.

@Plastictreeesok I don’t want to jump into a debate that’s not mine (I don’t know where I sit on this one) - but hear me out- hypothetically , to say more black people commit crime doesn’t mean they are predisposed to it? It could be for cultural (eg rap, hip hop, idols and what is ‘cool’) or historical reasons, a need to fight (defend themselves), related to history of slavery or abuse, more broken homes and feelings of abandonment etc. But acknowledging the link (eg saying there is an observable black problem with violence) might mean that we can look deeper into WHY and how to solve it. It is partly socio economic, absolutely ,but is it more than that? If we can’t seriously consider it with our being called racist we can’t ever know. And you won’t find studies on it because people would be too scared to conduct them.

It's not partly down to socio economic reasons. It is SOLELY down to economic reasons. The evidence is all there. Numerous peer reviews studies have said this

If you don't agree with them, fine. But please back it up with something resembling evidence.

BerylSnow · 23/09/2025 12:30

RingoJuice · 23/09/2025 12:19

I don’t accept the socioeconomic explanation. I don’t think poverty causes you to murder people. And think it’s insulting to people in real poverty to imply that.

But the evidence doesn't care about your feelings. You can dispute the studies all you like, but you may as well just go outside and yell at the clouds.

Indeed. The fact these posts have been deleted shows this too.

Wealthy black children go to prison at higher rates than the poor white children. The study is linked in the article if you want to look further. It also includes data on Hispanic children, which is rare (they are now more numerous than blacks in America and deserve to be considered a bit more in these sorts of comparisons)

www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/03/23/poor-white-kids-are-less-likely-to-go-to-prison-than-rich-black-kids

The disparity is a lot smaller the wealthier they are, which goes some way to proving my point.

But, you've looked at the economics factors, you now just need to consider the social factors. And then the penny will drop.

RingoJuice · 23/09/2025 12:19

BerylSnow · 23/09/2025 12:02

You've implied it throughout.

You have associated violence with race while dismissing any other factors out of hand.

What other reasonable conclusion can one draw?

I believe you are missing my point.

I am not disputing the number of crimes involving black people. I am disputing your assertion this is down to their race. Overwhelming evidence points to socio economic factors being the main driver behind crime rates. Dispute this all you like, but you are disputing hard evidence. Peer reviewed studies.

I'd wager you have preconceived bias. I wonder why.

Do you need to be spoonfed this information? The source where the numbers are from are clearly indicated.

But I suppose you could look at the poorest counties in America and see they are actually diverse, in that Native Americans, border towns and Appalachian regions are well represented in this list.

The crime problem isn’t there (they will have higher crime rates, yes. But they won’t be on the level of Jackson MI or St Louis

It’s not racist. It’s just a fact that 13% of the population commits 55% of the murders in my home country.

You wouldn’t be considered a misandrist if you pointed out that men, all men, commit 90%+ of all the crime.

Claiming that black people have a predisposition to violence IS racist.

Anything you have claimed really.

I mean proper evidence. Proper studies. Not just one bloke crunching data without context or nuance.

Why haven't you backed your claims up with any evidence? Because, there is none. This is what one might term an inconvenient truth.

@5128gap yes I can see your points and appreciate your point of view, I was responding initially to the idea he was hateful which I don’t think you said so my apologies there. I think in his direct conversations (that I have seen - which are many) and debates with students, he was very polite and respectful. Also a bit arrogant, with laughs and side eyes at times. But largely, I believe, polite and wanted to talk, thanked people, gave them his time and attention, gave advice and also inspired a great many people to do better. He also gave a voice to the under represented people on university campuses - those with conservative views. I say that as someone who lectures and researches at a RG university. I would not voice what I think at university. It would not go well for me - and I have what would traditionally be considered just right of centrist views.

Charlie didn't like it that Ms Rachel said in a video she is Christian and loves everyone, including gay people and that her favourite Bible quote is 'Love thy neighbour:
Charlie responded in a video with his crones making fun of Ms Rachel's views and said:

'[...] is in Leviticus 18, is that thou shall lay with another man shall be stoned to death, just saying. So, Ms. Rachel, you quote Leviticus 19, love your neighbor as yourself. The chapter before affirms God's perfect law when it comes to sexual matters.'

Charlie missing the basic tenet of Christianity there:

Jesus introduced a new commandment as recorded in John 13:34

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

For a Christian this is what will have primacy - Leviticus is Old Testament and is superseded in Christianity by the New Testament, with particular emphasis on the Gospel.

’This verse from the Bible, specifically John 13:34, captures the essence of Jesus’ teachings on love and compassion. Here, Jesus is imparting a new commandment to his disciples, emphasizing the importance of loving one another just as he has loved them. This directive goes beyond mere acquaintance or friendship; it calls for a deep, selfless, and sacrificial love that mirrors the unconditional love that Jesus showed to his followers. Just as Jesus demonstrated love through his actions, we can show kindness, empathy, and understanding to those around us, fostering a sense of community and support. We create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and cared for by following this commandment to love one another.’

What does John 13:34 really mean?

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
