Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

No need to be offensive but hey you do you.

You've also missed my point but there you go, no name calling from me.

My main point is: wow, after losing her husband to a very public killing, she forgives the killer. That's all. Her speech was from the heart. You may not listen, thats up to you. Many will comment, as I suspect you have, without actually listening to her.

He died less than 2 weeks ago, she’s grieving and I doubt is in a place to really know whether she can forgive her husbands killer. But, these religious types are so caught up in a religious ideology that has told them forgiveness is right, that they say they forgive. Their own feelings are often lost amongst the ideology, and in this case, a political agenda too. It’s very messed up. Someone has been shot and killed, the reality of that is horrendous.

The U.S. is not legally or constitutionally a Christian country. Its foundation emphasizes the separation of church and state and prohibits the establishment of a national religion. Christianity just happens to be the more dominant one.

Edited

And yet Christian rhetoric is underpinning much policy both domestic and international. And Trump and co are invoking "God / Jesus" at every opportunity. In other words behaving unconstitutionally?

MissFancyDay · 22/09/2025 01:00

I think Erika Kirk has said that it's not for her to say what his punishment should be, it's up to the state.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 22/09/2025 00:56

So the US isn't really a Christian country then?

But that's not in the spirit of "Christianity" and turning the other cheek now is it?

All those Christians in the U.S.A. and their love for guns and the death penalty, what's all that about then. I can't wrap my head around it.

I'm not a Christian even though I was Christened without being asked when I was a baby, but I like to think that Jesus existed and was a profoundly good man. He certainly would not have been in favour of the death penalty, so how do they justify it?

MistressoftheDarkSide · 22/09/2025 00:56

OneGladRoseTiger · 22/09/2025 00:53

She can’t. The family of the victim can ask for clemency as much as they like, can forgive the murderer if they want. But they cannot influence the sentence.

I hope that means she'll also ask for the death penalty to be taken off the table.

I was only speaking for myself, not Kirk’s widow. I’d be perfectly happy with the death penalty if someone had murdered my husband and father of my small children.

Fair enough.

Thats her, not him. He was categorically hateful.

So are you. The moment someone disagrees with you on this forum you start spewing venom. People in glass houses.

Why @aold a self centered, attention seeking narcissist wouldn’t be an enjoyable life partner. Imagine having a different opinion on simple things, let alone more complex views like politics or medical advances.

this thread and many of the posts in it, like this one, are shining examples of what Charlie Kirk was trying to challenge respectfully in civilised debate without throwing around crass insults.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 22/09/2025 00:46

GoodTimesNoodleSalad · 22/09/2025 00:45

I certainly wouldn’t. The killer was happy to dish it out, so he shouldn’t have a problem taking it.

To me her speech and forgiveness was noteworthy, to others it it's not.

Oh, I'm sure it was "noteworthy," and I'm sure it was written by professionals.

I'm just saying that it may not be as meaningful or angelically sincere as their fans imagine.

BeHappySloth · 22/09/2025 00:38

I watched her speech. I thought she was remarkably composed and dignified. I don't share her politics or religious views at all, but I do feel very sorry for her as a young woman who has lost her husband and the father of her young children in an incredibly violent and traumatic way.

As for her husband, I found some of his views abhorrent, but he did not deserve to die for them.

maybe she forgives the killer because being married to him was difficult?? lets just see how long it takes before she remarries.

wow. give your head a wobble.

MissFancyDay · 22/09/2025 00:35

I've just watched some clips of the memorial, I've never seen anything like it. I had a feeling that they were going to try and turn him into some sort of holy figure.

It feels like all sense of proportion has gone. I've never been so glad to live in the U.K.

The far right have had my kid doing stuff for them and I am terrified for his life because he doesn't want to be involved anymore and he's been threatened he's going on about God all the time and he was never religious, please please keep your kids away from Charlie kirks stuff and the far right and Farage, they are getting kids like mine hurt we can't even speak to a blackperson anymore it's gone crazy

What? How are you helping your DC? Mine would be banned from the internet.
Who is he being threatened by? What is he expected to do? Have you called the police?
Sounds like he is having a mental health breakdown.

Kurokurosuke · 22/09/2025 00:33

…publicly states that she forgives him.

i feel so sorry for her. She probably has to say she forgives him, or the gun-lobby would be on to her.

Who knows what she thinks privately no one knows. But given his stance on guns, and the money that he must have made from touting those views, I am sure she was put in a position of having to state this.

she is recently bereaved. And has children she has to help through this. She hasn’t had time to know how she feels about the killer yet.

The gun lobby is powerful. More powerful than God!

How many wanted babies have been miscarried, as is presumably "God's will" ?

How many children have been starved and abused, sometimes by those who officially represent "God's will"?

How many people have died because of the "God given" right to bear arms?

How many women have had to die because of "God's will" denying them medical treatment while pregnant because even an unviable foetus is deemed more important than it's host?

What agenda?

she is just being puppeted by Trump's rancid regime. She doesn't get to choose what she says any more than she did when Kirk was alive

Trump's not really a forgive the sinner sort of guy. That's not going to be a line he's scripted.
