Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

The President etc are certainly giving the impression that the US is a Christian country at the moment. Perhaps he should preface his ramblings with a disclaimer referencing that those are his personal views according to the freedoms accorded by the first amendment, and not necessarily reflective of the general populous, especially when he's beating the drums of "holy / spiritual war".

Of course he doesn’t need to preface his ‘ramblings’ with an explanation of this - every American knows it! They’re perfectly aware of the Bill of Rights and their constitutional rights, even if you are not and the preface would help you out.

It doesn't sound like though, she said that she didn't want to have to justify "an eye for an eye" when she stands before God. That doesn't sound very pro.

She was very upfront about being more conservative that her husband. He was pro death penalty so no way she isn’t. She doesn’t have to say it though, she won’t be the one to decide, nor should she be. She will be being advised on what to say by those with an interest in using her to further their agendas and by those keeping an eye on future opportunities for her. What she says now is very important.

This just highlights the hypocrisy of ideology/religion, something that tells you to forgive, but in so many cases those same ‘forgiving’ people believe in the death penalty. Strange kind of forgiveness. It makes no sense.

He said he would want his (currently 10 year old) daughter to give birth to a child resulting from rape.
That tells me all I need to know about him as a father.
Disgraceful.

You're not serious? How can anyone take anything you say seriously? His daughter is not 10 years old! Soif you're going to use an example, at least get your facts right, or you lose all credibility,

Did you even watch it? He never came out and said it, he was talking about how he believed in the sanctity of human life and how he believed unborn babies deserved to live. He hated abortion.

The girl pushed him into answering the question , using the hypothetical scenario of his daughter being rated- his first words were how horrible of a situation it would be.

I don't agree with this view at all, but the way you've said it bears no resemblance to what he said.

There are hateful things preached weekly in this country, but no one would call the speakers there hateful.

Of course freedom of expression doesn't mean freedom from consequences, but you are a fool if you think that it was ABC's decision. There is plenty of evidence in the public domain that they came under significant pressure from the administration.

If they considered Kimmel’s comments to be reasonable and measured, perhaps ABC might have resisted such pressure and fought his corner? Evidently this was not the case.

Kimmel was free to express his views, but they came with consequences.

maybe she forgives the killer because being married to him was difficult?? lets just see how long it takes before she remarries.

JD Vance said:

“Erika told me Charlie never raised his voice, never cussed at her, never was mean-spirited,” “I can never say that I’ve never raised my voice to my wife. Like most husbands, even the good ones, we’re sometimes imperfect.”

Erika also said that he often asked her how he could be better husband to her. That he wanted to be better and to do better by her and their children.

I also find that way of thinking disgusting, but we have no evidence to suggest that his wife feels any differently. We also don't know if he would have retained his theoretical beliefs if he had ever been confronted with the reality of that situation.

Perhaps you find it confusing as you were under the assumption that the US is a Christian country, and aren’t familiar with the first amendment.

That was ABC’s decision to make.

In the same way, when Trump was kicked off Twitter, that was their decision to make, yes?

Freedom of expression does not mean freedom from consequences, is that correct?

Erika Kirk said that she is not calling for the death penalty. I think that people are being harsh. Her husband was murdered less than two weeks ago. She must be all over the place.

It seems a stretch to call CK hateful for holding bog standard American conservative positions. I disagree with many of those opinions but am surprised at the vitriol and misrepresentation of his viewpoints.

Not forgiven the gays for loving the “wrong” sex though hey.

Maybe watch all the clips I this, instead of believing out of context rage baiting.

There seem to be a few blurred lines around the concept of freedom of speech, expression and religion in the context of US government and the constitution at the moment.

Perhaps you find it confusing as you were under the assumption that the US is a Christian country, and aren’t familiar with the first amendment.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 22/09/2025 01:16

I believe that she genuinely has forgiven him, because of her strong beliefs, it doesn't mean that she agrees or has an understanding, but believes that unforgiving actions will make her sadder, than she already is, believing that her husband is with God.
It's very sad.
As much as conspiracy theories cause madness, this situation stinks. There is a lot of rotten apples in the barrel.

I disliked the views that Charlie Kirk espoused as much as anyone did, but I don't think any of us can make judgements on what he was or wasn't like as a husband. We simply don't know.

Everyone except late night TV show hosts who are critical of the current administration, that is.

You were incorrect.

And no, they’re not behaving unconstitutionally. As much as you may dislike their Christian rhetoric, their first amendment protects their right to freedom of religion and expression also, just as much as anyone else’s. ‘Trump and co’ are exercising their rights just as everyone else is free to do.

No need to be offensive but hey you do you.

You've also missed my point but there you go, no name calling from me.

My main point is: wow, after losing her husband to a very public killing, she forgives the killer. That's all. Her speech was from the heart. You may not listen, thats up to you. Many will comment, as I suspect you have, without actually listening to her.

It was not from the heart. It was written by someone else.

They are stark raving mad. They are getting people killed in the UK we aren't allowed proper news they keep putting the same news on everywhere except the right wing papers keep your kids away from these people they are threatening kids this is not Godly they spare radicalising them

I didn't want to read and run because I suspect that you may have a point but your lack of punctuation makes your contribution unintelligible.

I understand. We all do things in a hurry sometimes but if you could edit it and add the necessary sentence punctuation, that would really help.

Thank you.

many women are NOT in happy marriages and you are assuming she was.
this man would have made family gatherings very difficult, no one likes loud obnoxious opinionated personalities.

You don’t think it’s obnoxious to assert on absolutely no evidence whatever that this man would have made family gatherings very difficult?

EmeraldRoulette · 22/09/2025 01:08

Has this website been taken over by Reddit?!

Honestly, people saying he had "hateful views". Did all the adults leave the room?I did challenge the first few when it happened, but now I just cannot be bothered. It's that line from
"Give Yourself A Try" I keep posting on here "like context in a modern debate, I just took it out" 🙄 someone even pulled out that thing about the civil rights act without showing the whole clip. Actually, I think they might've just posted one sentence!

I wouldn't agree with half of what he said but he did not have hateful views.

Anyway, with the forgiveness, I'm not a very forgiving person. I'm impressed if Erika can really do that. It's giving me food for thought anyway.

And yet Christian rhetoric is underpinning much policy both domestic and international. And Trump and co are invoking "God / Jesus" at every opportunity. In other words behaving unconstitutionally?

She was more conservative than her husband, so it’s likely she would be in favour of the death penalty.
