Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

And how has that worked out for you?

You do realise there’s reasoning behind this? Including young black boys being told they won’t amount to anything more than a criminal, and so the prophecy fulfills itself. There’s also the broken windows theory. Just putting people in prison doesn’t solve the actual issue.

By the late 90s, crime was down and cities were cleaned up. Three strikes laws worked, and (crucially) this was spearheaded by Democrats. Hillary was criticized for her ‘super predators’ remark but she should never have had to apologize for that.

Putting people in prison works.

HaveItOffTilICough · 22/09/2025 08:26

This thread is awful to read. Some people will apparantly call everything 'hate', even a hypothetical answer Kirk gave on his views on abortion.

They’re still his views, even if they’re based on a hypothetical.

EasternStandard · 22/09/2025 08:24

I just heard the clip of her speaking. Ik a thread on here will go on the attack but I found it moving, and no need for more anger.

I hope that means she'll also ask for the death penalty to be taken off the table.

Dang... in this huge soap opera, that would be helluva twist.

I perceive that she is cycling thru the stages of grief too quickly, her cycle is shallow and she'll have to relive the cycles when they are initially too shallow. I know that repeat cycles of grief can be normal. It is shame that she has to deal with all this so much in public eye, I can feel for EK in that way.

Let's see what position EK takes in 6m or 12m etc.

aold · 22/09/2025 07:00

oh I bet you wish this was true. Wish hard enough and you can make it happen, right?
Wrong.

Enough with the condescension. I know you and your ilk believe your constant online campaign is winning. However, it’s online.

This is not an offline topic in mainstream Britain and if it is it’s people side eyeing the absolute weirdness. This noise is then reported on by journalists as though it’s a thing. It really isn’t as much as you are wishing so hard that it is.

These internet cultures wars are becoming so stupid that people are leaving platforms like X at speed and as a result it’s increasingly becoming a smaller group of chronically online people and bots yelling at each other. You’re driving people away.

I’ve even seen on here - a new poster comes on and says something inflammatory and within 5 minutes another 5 new posters come on to loudly agree with their buddy. It’s so transparent and as a result I’ve noticed I’m seeing fewer and fewer old school MN posters (I’ve been here 15 years but log in less now) who’ve clearly moved on as it’s tedious.

This thread is awful to read. Some people will apparantly call everything 'hate', even a hypothetical answer Kirk gave on his views on abortion.

Our western society is going to hell in a handbasket as there are too many people who are just so arrogant in their closed mindness. On both sides of the political spectrum. There just doesn't seem to be any drive anymore to find common ground.

Kirk was a fairly centric and open minded guy on most topics. And he got killed and left the more extreme people to take over. And instead of trying to get back to common ground, the left and right just doubles down and refuses to even try. Pathetic.

Problem is, for those with extreme views, there is no compromise, is there? You either believe that there should be no abortion in any circumstances, like CK did, or you don't. No compromise that kept abortion as an option would have been acceptable to CK, and no complete ban would be acceptable to others. So the fight continues, with both sides accusing the other of 'close mindedness' on the issue in question.
With any binary issue (can humans change sex? Should we have the death penalty? Does life begin at conception?) there can be no position of compromise, so the two sides will fight on, both close minded, both determined to garner sufficient support for their argument that they sway the mainstream.
The problems occur when one or the other side seeks to advantage itself by using huge platforms, misinformation, manipulation, misuse of government power, or violence to force others to their position.

Ah well, that’s okay then. As long as lots of them are homophobic.

I think it’s disgusting too, but just saying that not only are those views common, they’re protected!

This guy nailed it (and he’s a total liberal, but one that can still think for himself on some level):

It's mind blowing.
I'm staying away from the rabbit hole, it's deep. Scary society.

Sure she does, which was exactly what that enormous political rally was all about. Forgiveness. There’s a reason they say speak louder than words.
I hope she can actually one day make peace with it and genuinely forgive because it will help her in her kids in the long run.

Shellyash · 22/09/2025 08:10

User37482 · 22/09/2025 06:32

People are ascribing all sorts to a woman they don’t know. Maybe she loved her husband very much and is genuinely sad that someone murdered him, she has two small kids and is in the public eye. “Set up for life” yeah thats what I’d be thinking if DH was murdered and I was trying to explain that someone couldn’t tolerate him just saying stuff so they killed him to my devastated children. Can you imagine how his children must be feeling.

The complete lack of empathy here is shocking. I didn’t follow him but I do remember him saying he doesn’t use the word empathy because no-one really knows what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes.

People have become degenerate. I’m actually disgusted tbh. This is facistic behaviour, killing of political opponents celebrated or dismissed.

Thank you, i agree. Shocking what people are writing on here.

Lavender14 · 22/09/2025 08:09

To be honest the entire thing felt icky to me. I feel very sorry for her and her children, they've obviously been through a very traumatic experience and I think there's very clearly an agenda for his family to now be utilised for political agenda. It's impossible to know how on board his widow actually is with that given its very, very early days after a major loss and I guess there is a certain expectation on the spouse of any high profile figure to be supportive of their work even in legacy.

I think it's positive she speaks about forgiveness, but I think it's important to remember that forgiveness is an action and I'm not sure that forgiveness ties in with Conservative politics particularly gun usage and the death penalty among other issues. My understanding of forgiveness is that its a daily choice you make and perhaps she has committed to doing that. But I don't think it's as simple as saying it and it takes a lot of time for people to process. In my experience as a Christian sometimes there is a lot of talk about forgiveness but actually a lack of understanding of what it really entails so it can be lip service without people even realising. I think it would be naieve to think there hasn't been a heavy pr involvement in all of this I just hope that behind it all that family are getting proper, genuine care and support and can grieve as honestly as they need to.

Taking a colorblind approach in the justice system will lead to a disproportionate amount of African Americans in prison, and we need to be okay with that and stop making excuses for it.

It is a fact that 1 in 5 African American males will be in prison at some point in their life, versus 1 in 25 for white American males.

I’m tired of the excuses. There is a reason families choose to leave urban school districts, and it’s not down to racism. It was always the violence.

So despite being a non-Christian and pro-choice, I have voted Republican since the Trump era because I want to see harsher penalties towards crime.

And how has that worked out for you?

Interesting two hander with Trump there. She establishes 'their side' as having a god like righteousness and a goodness most would only aspire to. Demonstrates the 'feminine' virtues of gentle kindness and love.
Then, just in case that's seen as weakness where the more muscular brethren are concerned, he comes in like the avenging angel to smite those that stand in the way of all this goodness.
Truly something for everyone there and a strong message that if we want a society of Charlies and to protect our Erikas, then we (sadly) need to use force to drive out the evil of our opponants.

Thanks.

No idea why some people insist the killer was MAGA he wasn't. He was radicalised and thought killing someone he disagreed with was the answer.

Trying to take a charitable view of it, I thought perhaps she believed that she was honouring her husband's memory by allowing it to become a political rally. Supporting the cause that he believed in, iyswim.

It was quite weird at times, though. Trump's ramblings were dreadful and completely off topic a lot of the time. It was like he kept forgetting why he was there and then suddenly remembering again.

I did find myself wondering whether Erika Kirk will seek to launch a political career off the back of this. It certainly looked like she might be thinking about it.

She’s already done so.

It’s just disgusting. The entire thing stinks. Absolutely stinks. Kirk was calling for the release of the Epstein files in their entirety and according to sources close to him, had shifted from being very pro-Israel to taking a critical view of their actions in Palestine. Then he’s murdered and this happens. Utterly bizarre

BeHappySloth · 22/09/2025 07:51

IWasScaredToBeHeld · 22/09/2025 07:39

It absolutely is not normal to have “forgiven” your husbands killer within two weeks of his death, and to be using this as an opportunity to politically campaign. It is not normal to turn his memorial into a political stunt.

That conversation has been had since the 1960s and it hasn’t got better. We need to be straightforward and stop talking around it, because that hesitation solves NOTHING.

The worthless college dropout killer was brought up in a conservative household. He became radicalised online and was even known at school at “the Reddit Kid.” Even his family were becoming concerned at his radical left views he was spouting.
Anyway his boyfriend is singing like a canary ( the trans one who is also a furry).

It all seems a bit too simple.
Even the text messages exchanged, who talks like that? I'm just changing my outfit. There is still one vehicle? A squad car? Where was the gun when he climbed off the building? Where did he it? They found the gun, not the type you can't tuck inside your waistband, climbing off a building.
It's hard to believe or accept the narrative.
Also suspicious that on the anniversary of Trump's near death experience, it's barely acknowledged. Shhh.

RingoJuice · 22/09/2025 07:50

IWasScaredToBeHeld · 22/09/2025 07:23

But that conversation needs to be focused on WHY that happens. Things like the broken windows theory, poorer outcomes for the poorest in society, the fact that it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Not the disgusting, racist bile that Kirk was spewing.
