Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

There is nothing “Christian” about hating someone because of their sexuality.

I don’t believe there is a god. Religion came about as a very useful tool to keep the masses under control.
If I am wrong and there is, I don’t believe it would espouse the awful views put forward by some of its representatives.

As a Christian I fully agree with this. There is no space for the hate nor control of anyone in Christianity irregardless of whether or not you agree with someone's identity/lifestyle/choices etc.

We don’t know what he was at the moment.

The republican governor of Utah said he was gutted that he was ‘one of our own’.

His family haven’t spoken publicly so no idea why people are attributing quotes to them.

His family haven't spoken publicly, but they have spoken to the FBI, and FBI have told us some of what they said.

AzurePanda · 22/09/2025 09:51

I’m just amazed that people don’t think college kids are “grown ups”. They are all obviously adults and many will be in their mid 20’s. They shouldn’t be at university if they’re not capable of debate and making their own minds up.

This one is for you

One of our own in the context of governor cox meant an American, not a foreigner. If you read or heard the original source, you would know that.

So either you repeated what you heard without looking into the context or you KNOW and want to spread misinformation.

it’s open season on Christians though. Other religions are off limits when it comes to debate.

This is a joke, right? 😂

I disagree with you there, its how extremists work. I have a dim view on your simplistic view on this. He was a dangerous man and knew exactly what he was doing.

Or, or.... just maybe, he spoke to college students because he knew they are being brainwashed (at least re trans ideology) and he wanted to get them to think! And btw, I am a woman of colour myself and am very pro-choice, so I find many of his views utterly abhorrent. But I do understand why he wanted to speak to college students as he saw them being brainwashed and he thought they weren't getting the full story/getting one sided indoctrination.

Pretending to believe in God (who by the way, is all-loving) does not take away from all the truly hateful things that man said when he was alive.

Yes, as a deeply religious person, I don’t think Charlie believed in God.

God for me is loving and kind, the direct antithesis of Charlie’s beliefs.

I find this response an excellent example of people being not only closed minded but also so full of righteousness they feel their response does not need any explanation, just their judgement.

No why it is 'tripe', no questioning of their feelings or my contribution to this thread, no asking why. At least in my opinion Kirk was better at this than this poster, he at least asked and questioned

Even Ted Bundy could be charming.

Don’t mistake smirking smoothness for respect. His views on Muslims, Jews, black people and feminists did show hatred and contempt for them.

They don't believe they are "hating" the person though. They say it regularly themselves, they love the person but hate the 'sin'. There is a real serious problem with people seeing an adverse opinion as 'hate'. It's narrow-minded bigotry to ascribe 'hate' to a person's beliefs. Just because someone has a different view to you, doesn't mean they 'hate' you. Society has completely lost touch with what 'hate' actually means.

Listen to what some African representatives of the Christian church have to say about homosexuals. Abomination regularly crops up. Sounds like hate to me.

You probably came at it with a different prejudgment. I haven’t followed CK or heard Erika speak before and yes I’d say she was grieving rn. Why wouldn’t she be?

Perhaps, but isnt it important to know what went on prior to this. You could say that about anyone, the worst people in the world will have family who unconditionally love them so are devastated at their death. I believe her grief is real, I also believe that what we saw last night was very much staged for political gain.

Do you honestly think it was genuine, from the heart words? I must have watched something different

A compromise does not need to be reached in how one person feels about something. A compromise needs to be reached in the laws of society for society to work. Disagree with the law, debate the law. Unhappy with the law, fight to change the law. Can't change the law, make the most of it and try to live within it. Don't shoot the people who agree with the law.

Well obviously, that goes without saying. What we're considering here is whether it's possible for those with strong views on binary issues to compromise. I believe it isn't. Some will accept and tolerate. Others will protest and campaign peacefully. Others still will use violence or misuse power to force their way.
Its obvious that options 1 or 2 are the desirable ones. But in a country where the president misuses his power to shut down debate, and unstable young men have easy access to guns, we see far too much of the third.

Did you read the title. His wife talked of God and forgiveness. That's not hateful.

He exploited young college kids for clicks. He was too afraid to debate grown ups.

It astonishes me that people cannot see this.

Honestly, most people with any reasonable level of intellect will see through the absolute circus of last night. That is not to say she is not devastated of course, she very clearly adored him as did their children.

I don’t think her words need to be dismissed. She will be grieving.

@Hidingbehindthechaos ”preying” on college students? You must have a pretty dim view of their intellect if you don’t think they’re perfectly capable of making their own minds up. He didn’t force anyone to attend his meetings or engage in a debate with him.

And this is the problem.
People who see debate and using words as ‘dangerous’ are the dangerous ones.
Shutting down debate is THE MOST dangerous thing to do. That way, people feel they have nowhere to go with their thoughts and beliefs, so they resort to social rebellion and violence.

Debate is not dangerous, extremists are though.

It was awful. The horrendously fake behaviour from Trump also, it was so staged its embarrassing. The clips I saw showed her stood up there completely alone just sobbing, its all been staged for maximum impact on viewers. Obviously she is devastated Im sure but in RL she would have had someone who loved her there for support, instead of Trump who didnt even want to hug her and couldnt wait to push her off.

Charlie Kirk was an awful person with awful views and preyed on college students to try and get them to take on his views. People are fooled because he spoke well but he is no different to Trump and the like. The while thing was very manipulative. EK will now continue his hateful work in the name of religion. I hate that these people are given such a platform to spout their extremist views.

💯 His death has certainly opened up opportunities for political gain. The world stage.

@Hidingbehindthechaos I don’t like to dismiss people who have a completely different view to me (as Charlie Kirk did) of lacking in intellect.

LeonMccogh · 22/09/2025 09:34

I feel desperately sad for her, regardless of everything else. The poor woman and poor little kids.

Hidingbehindthechaos · 22/09/2025 09:33

AzurePanda · 22/09/2025 09:25

Good for Erika, must have taken an awful lot of strength to say those words in public so soon after her husband’s murder. Hopefully she’ll be inspirational to many in terms of granting forgiveness instead of seeking revenge.
