Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

I thought you meant you had an independent link, not Charlie's.

Here is a video of the incident:

There is a disagreement with the teen boy and the woman about who has the bike. The teen says it's is because he was holding the bike as he had just docked it, the woman says it's her because she scanned the bike.

I actually don't know who is in the right from this video, but what I can see is that there is no baiting. The boys do not swear at her, they do not push her or antagonize her.

So why was this misunderstanding said to be an example of 'prowling blacks'? Do you not see that that's racist?

I remember this case. There is some sort of scam where they can freely ride those electric bikes if there are no regular bikes around so what they were doing was hanging out trying to ‘guard’ the bikes so they could use them again after docking. One of the teens was hanging on one docked bike so she took the one next to it; they then claimed they wanted to use that one too and an argument ensued (she’d already paid and taken it out to use)

(iirc you have to dock them every 45 minutes to avoid charges, so they did that and waited to take them out again. They get these cards from the city as part of a welfare program)

it wasn’t Charlie that killed anyone. Why is he not free to defend the values that define an average American Christian? Why was he hated for articulating their world view?

The left should have come for a debate. Not for a murder.

So you’re saying the “average American Christian” believes:

Black women like Michelle Obama or Ketanji Brown Jackson have no brain power and only succeed by stealing spots from white people.

Black people are “prowling” around cities for fun to attack whites.

Immigrants are “invaders” who rape and steal children.

Islam is a threat to civilization and should be treated as such.

Doctors who help trans kids should face Nuremberg-style trials like Nazi war criminals.

LGBTQ people deserve stoning because it’s “God’s perfect law.”

If that’s the worldview you’re defending, then you’re not talking about faith or morality—you’re excusing racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and violent homophobia under the banner of Christianity.

What a disgusting group to be a part of.

He is blaming the victim. I heard much the same justification, by the way, for the Charlie Hebdo murders.

The victim should never be blamed but didn't Kirk himself say he would be killed one day?

WannabeEDIOfficer · 22/09/2025 12:54

Beliefs shouldn't become part of a set, where if you gather all the pieces you become left or right, conservative or liberal, religious or not.

I genuinely believe that Charlie Kirk's wife believes in forgiveness. I also believe that some of Charlie Kirk's views were fine, whilst others were racist or derogatory. My brain hasn't exploded by believing these things at thr same time.

He should have been debated into obscurity, not murdered.

But remember that the murderer was spawned in an 'American Christian' family of Republicans with a love for guns. The right should have taught him love, not guns.

Butchyrestingface · 22/09/2025 12:51

She didn't look terribly forgiving to me in the footage I saw - she looked positively murderous (notwithstanding her words of forgiveness). Don't really blame her, mind.

Charlie did say she was way more conservative than him, and victims of violent crime do not generally become more liberal as a result of their experiences.

It wasn't thought that the shooter was left wing. 'right wing social media accounts with millions of followers manufactured false conspiracy theories. The lies ignore overwhelming evidence of Boelter’s actual politics: his roommate David Carlson told reporters that Boelter voted for Trump and “was a strong supporter” of the president. Other longtime friends told local media Boelter was right-leaning...he was registered as a Republican in Oklahoma.'

Mike Lee used Hortman's death to spread lies. That is hateful.

Whereas Dowd basically directed this awful rhetoric towards Charlie, implying he brought his own murder on himself.

Which part of “I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have saying these awful words, and then not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.” is hateful?

So why don't you post what he said then?

The thing you don't seem to understand is that everyone cares about their family. Everyone deserves to live safely, and free from racial, misogynistic and religious hatred. You and your American Christian family are not special.

It’s quite difficult to “twist” someone’s words when they are there coming from his mouth all over the internet.

That you find his values to be normal and Christian confirms my belief that religion is dangerous.

I am not Christian. I left the church and I don’t agree with forgiving Kirk’s killer.

You should prefer a religious right-wing: I will not forgive like they do.

Witchcraftandhokum · 22/09/2025 12:43

Strange that a number of the people on here defending his views seem to be first time posters.

His murder has really brought home to me that so many seem to accept murder as acceptable/understandable.
I read an article which explained his murder in terms of the rise of fascism and it was Kirk who was described as the fascist not the murderer. We're living in very strange times.

Horst Wessel might be the most appropriate comparison, though this could also be the Reichstag moment for MAGA.

Ok.

I dont know why we need another thread on him, he had hateful views.

Can you quote any of his hateful views?

Who knows. I doubt its up to her. However, to publicly say she forgives the killer.... many would struggle to do that.

She did struggle! I don't blame her at all but when she said it I thought 'oh my goodness she looks full of hatred and rage'.

Do you really mean hateful? Or just what you don't like? They're not the same thing.

Lots of people here have views i find abhorrent. Some.of CKs fall into that category for me.

But I struggle to see genuine hate there, just a different worldview.

I do. I think what he did was dangerous but you don't have to agree with me, I have no issue with that. I think he had extremist views and hid behind a certain persona.

I am not glad he is dead, I would say no one deserves that however I am not sure i 100% mean that in some cases. I just dislike he had such a huge platform to spread his views. Him dying has just made that even bigger unfortunately.

The video also has a transcript so you can find the quote easily enough in a long piece.

No. It later came out that the shooter was not a leftist, initially it was thought that he was due to having the ‘No Kings’ rally flyers in his car.

But he never directed hateful rhetoric at Ms Hortman, and you seem to now acknowledge.

Whereas Dowd basically directed this awful rhetoric towards Charlie, implying he brought his own murder on himself.

Probably because he had nothing to forgive because he never said what you are accusing him of. It’s nearly as bad as the people cherrypicking parts of his quote about empathy and sympathy but leaving the sympathy part out.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/charlie-kirk-gay-people-stoned/

I never said he did say that. He did however say he wouldn’t accept his child being gay. I have an issue with that. But then that’s why we stopped going to our local Christian church. As the mother of a gay daughter I just can’t comprehend why who she loves causes so much anger in others.

Witchcraftandhokum · 22/09/2025 12:05

He was none of those things. He was a positive male influence unlike the Tate brothers

He really wasn't. I work in a secondary school in the uk, just last week a 13 year old told me "that all black people want better rights than white people". When I asked where he got that he replied 'Charlie Kirk"

That's without him wanting autonomy over womens bodies.
