Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

They literally voted in Hamas to govern them. The parallels with the IRA are ridiculously disingenuous.

44% did - that’s not the entire population and it’s not a justification for the mass starvation, death, bombing, and collection punishment happening in Gaza. Children didn’t vote.

How many children have to die before you say it’s enough? You talk about the hostages, but their families are begging Israel to stop and to negotiate a deal. Israel responds by bombing the negotiators.

I am Jewish and thoroughly ashamed of actions being taken in my name. We have been led to believe that Palestinian deaths are inevitable and necessary for Israel’s security. It’s not true. Never again means never again for anyone, including Palestinians.

Me too. But for a poster to claim that the Irish people never voted for the IRA, I would assume she has some knowledge of Irish history, and realise that the IRA were, through Sinn Fein, elected in 1918. An election that resulted in the establishment of a de facto Irish state and the Irish war of independence.

By the OP's logic, anyone recognising Irish statehood is 'rewarding terrorism'.

So that would be the UK government then ?

Antisemitism exists. It would be ridiculous to deny that. However, IRL I haven't come across a single person in my 50 years who has expressed an anti Jewish sentiment (I have seen it online though). I have heard a lot of anti Muslim sentiment though. So I dont think Antisemitism is as widespread as Islamaphobia.

Neither is acceptable IMO.

Are you Jewish? If not, why would you have come across antisemitism? Numbers of Jews in the world are a tiny fraction of the number of muslims - about 15 million Jews to 2 billion muslims. From a purely numbers perspective if you are not Jewish the chance of coming across a Jew, let alone antisemitism, is therefore significantly lower than the chance of witnessing anti-Muslim acts.

Well it depends what the 2 state solution boundaries are. Area c subjects Palestinians to way worse conditions than the settlers. It’s equally disturbing. And the new settlements are illegal.

Edited

Area C isn't governed by the PA. To all intents and purposes it's part of Israel proper.

GabrielsOboe · 21/09/2025 17:01

The consequences of Starmer’s actions will include increased immigration.

No question.

Anyone know why Egypt and Jordan don't want the refugees?

Because they'll never be allowed to go home? Why should they help israel with its ethnic cleansing? What racist excuse did you want to insert?

Comedycook · 21/09/2025 17:01

To those of you who deny anti Semitism....did you see in the news this week the shop in Germany which had a sign on their window saying no Jews allowed....even had the cheek to claim they weren't anti Semitic. What's that about hey?

The UK stats on hate crimes would disprove this and antisemitic crime has soared since 7 october

people were celebrating the atrocities of 7 October on the streets of cities around the world before there had been any retaliation by Israel. I’ll never forget it, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

starmer is rewarding terrorism - how can we possibly recognise a state which is governed by terrorists?

Anyone know why Egypt and Jordan don't want the refugees?

@Honesting The only solution ever acceptable to the majority of them was a final solution, ie all of the Levant being a Palestinian state.

I see. Well there was another thread that so many posters overlooked for some reason, so I offer an opportunity to those supporting the Israeli government to comment here:

Short version - Israeli minister says that the war on Palestine will end with a "final solution" of "maximum land with minimum Arabs".

Pot,kettle, black? Stated intention to expand across all Palestinian land by any means necessary.

An aerial shot shows vast destruction: bombed out buildings, rubble, and rising smoke.

Israeli minister touts Gaza 'real estate bonanza', defying international backlash - BBC News

Bezalel Smotrich, an ultranationalist who has been sanctioned by the UK and others, said he was in discussion with the US over the idea.

Once again conflating Hamas with the children of palestine is grim. The Palestinian people are not terrorists.

What does that even mean? If you're saying that not every single Palestinian is a terrorist, well duh, I don't think anyone thinks that.

But if you somehow want to make a distinction between 'ordinary' Palestinians and Hamas, that would be a very tenuous argument. Almost every single Palestinian terrorist, including the one who shot and killed innocent citizens on the bus a few weeks ago, was an 'ordinary' Palestinian.

Edited

It’s pretty obvious what I am saying and try looking up collective punishment as it’s illegal under international law.

I have. Many times. Sometimes with slurs and epithets, other times with fists. And sometimes with a veneer of respectability, under the pretence of 'just asking questions'.

scorpiogirly · 21/09/2025 16:59

I'll never accept it. You can't recognise something that doesn't exist.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 21/09/2025 15:45

I agree with you. Not a word he now says condemning terrorism or honouring the victims of the Holocaust will be trusted, it'll be just empty words

We have an appeaser and a terrorist sympathiser for a Prime Minister

Nonsense. It is perfectly possible to condemn the Nazi genocide and the killing of Palestinian children at the same time. I cannot understand how anyone can condone the deliberate starvation of children and deliberate action taken to prevent children injured by Israeli soldiers from getting essential medical care.

I didn't say there was no anti-semitism at all. But most peoples learn from history and change. Not everyone though. There's a few in the Israeli government who also haven't learned anything from history.

And the next time you call me a liar you will be reported.

You said that “very few people just hate Jews”, the inference being that antisemetism is a very small, minor issue in the world.

Thousands of years of documented human histoty tells a very different story, thus to say that “very few people just hate Jews” is disgusting lies.

Report me.

Very few people "just hate Jews"

Such disgusting lies.

Antisemitism (the world’s oldest hatred) has existed and persisted in many forms for over 2,000 years. In all time periods, all over the world.

Jewish people have been persecuted for thousands of years.

Do you consider it to have just disappeared, overnight, of it’s own volition? Has it just suddenly ceased to be a problem? After all this time? Just, disapperated into the ether?

Where has all the antisemitism gone?

They literally voted in Hamas to govern them. The parallels with the IRA are ridiculously disingenuous.

People predominantly vote Sinn Fein or Unionist parties (I'm from Northern Ireland) here however it doesn't necessarily mean they support terrorism, they are voting closest to their views and tactically voting even though they don't agree with certain stances. At one point I wanted a United Ireland but I didn't want anyone to die to achieve that or undergo any violence. Are you saying because they voted Hamas then their children deserve to be mutilated, starved, orphaned etc? If that's how people think then that is terrifying. 😔

Navigatinglife100 · 21/09/2025 16:55

We never stopped negotiating with the two sides in the Irish argument - and one side wanted a united, not separate, land.

People are allowed to have their own opinions. What matters is how they are actioned and many don't action it , even if they would like it. The terrorists do.

The former people deserve to be treated as humans.

ConveyancingHelll · 21/09/2025 16:54

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 21/09/2025 16:41

So where is Palestine? Is it the Gaza Strip? Does it include the West Bank enclave (I don’t think their leaders want to have much to do with Hamas, they are on different sides of the religious divide)? Is it anywhere that ‘Palestinians’ live?

As for David Lammy’s ingenuous suggestion that they should have a ‘joint capital in Jerusalem’ , presumably he is unaware that the enclave around the Dome of the Rock is part of Israel but run and administered by Jordan, who seem to want nothing to do with Hamas. ( Bit like Egypt, who closed the border years ago).

But hey, it might save a few votes for Labour ….

The borders of the Palestinian territories are pretty clear, so the borders of a Palestinian state would be similarly clear.

Thegreyhound · 21/09/2025 16:54

wrongthinker · 21/09/2025 16:14

No, you're not alone.

You'll get a load of crap from posters on here, though, who have fallen hook, line and sinker for the pro-Palestine propaganda, not to mention the anti-semitism.

The truth is Hamas do not want a two-state solution. They have been offered this many times. What they actually want is to murder every Jew and eradicate them from the face of the earth. They have been completely explicit about this.

How anyone can support Hamas is beyond me. Why the hell would you want racist, misogynist, homophobic, violent religious ideologues to have more land and more international support? Fucking stupid, apart from anything else. But they have been really, really good at propagandising and lying.

Did you not notice that most of Netanyahu’s current lot are misogynist, racist, homophobic, violent religious ideologues?

Fucking this a million times. People just hate Jews though.

Most people don't give a stuff about Jews. Or Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Vulcans, Furries or the Easter Bunny. What they do care about is that a nation of 2 million people are being terrorised, starved, displaced, maimed and murdered. If your religion is more important than that you might want to have a word with your god about priorities.

Osmosisfreight · 21/09/2025 16:53

No people don’t hate Jews, they hate the Israeli government. Crying anti-semitism for any judgement against Israel is just an easy way to block valid facts.

Do Hamas want Jewish/Israeli’s destroyed, of course, and thats disgusting! Just like it’s disgusting Israeli Gov wants all the Palestinians dead and buried - we’ve heard some of them say it…
