Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

I wouldn't report it, even though it's unwarranted abuse. I'd rather people see that you don't have an argument, only hatred.

I'm not a disgusting human being at all. I am a loving and kind person. I just don't see this war in the way that you do. The difference is that I am willing and able to put forward my arguments without hatred and abuse. Apparently most of my interlocutors are unable to say the same. Shame on you.

Because there are none left. They’ve been murdered/tortured/raped and discarded somewhere. Because thats what Hamas do….

They released a 'proof of life' image today/yesterday of someone, but believing them on anything is a fools game, agree

Two wrongs do.not make a right. You can have every bit of compassion for the evils of October 7th and fully condemn the perpetrators whilst also recognising that dropping bombs on tents of sleeping children or shooting children in the head is also wrong.

Agreed - but what does the UK recognising Palestine achieve? I can’t see how it improves the chances for peace. The price Israel has demanded is the return of the hostages and Hamas won’t return them. It doesn’t justify violence against civilians but Hamas chooses not to fix it.

Why don't they release the sausages hostages?

It would end things pretty fast?

I would welcome Palestinian refugees the same way we've welcomed Ukrainians

Omg. I really hope not. Presumably if we are recognising them as a state, they have a home already and don’t need to come here to ‘escape’. Afterall, by your reasoning, it means that Hamas are absolutely an okay regime to lead their people. Apparently using your people as human shields and diverting aid makes them acceptable in Starmer’s world.

The thing that I keep coming back to is that Hamas started a war. In war, horrible things happen. It was horrible when the Allies carpet bombed Dresden. Thousands of children sleeping in their beds. There is no such thing as a good war - innocent people are always going to suffer. Maybe some of Israel's actions constitute war crime, and I do think that countries should abide by the rules of war, and I hope that the truth comes out on these matters. But remember, "the first casualty of war is truth" - and you would be very stupid to assume that the Hamas propaganda being reported by the BBC is true.

User37482 · 21/09/2025 19:11

This is just pointless, I do want there to be a Palestinian state living in peace alongside Israel one day. But ffs this is not a priority for the country this is just some stupid electioneering shit. It doesn’t actually mean anything.

As long as it wouldn't damage the prime real estate land I agree with you. (Need those sea views for the casinos and condos once all those pesky Palestinans clear off.

It’s disgusting OP. I’m thoroughly ashamed of our government currently. It makes my skin crawl to think that he’s basically giving a green light to terrorism. I hope this gesture doesn’t result in the government having to sit down at a table with their leaders, Hamas. Because that will be a very shameful day for our country. By recognising a Palestinian state, you are also recognising their regime.

Like they had to "sit down" and negotiate the Good Friday agreement.

They will be well versed so in negotiating between two opposition views of invasion and occupation.

The consequences of Starmer’s actions will include increased immigration.

No question.

The poster is wrong for speaking the truth of what’s happening?! Hamas are a disgusting Regime, on par with the Taliban, yet we are now potentially putting ourselves in the position of having to talk to these monsters. Utterly shameful.

Explain what's despicable about my view, please?

Have a little read of your own comments. That should clear it up for you

Martymcfly24 · 21/09/2025 19:06

Present some facts and maybe I'll see them?

Of course I have compassion for innocent Palestinians; I can have compassion for their suffering without agreeing that they are victims of a genocide. If it's a genocide, then why are Israel sending in food aid? If there's a genocide of Palestinians, why aren't Jordan or Egypt taking any refugees? If there's a genocide, why didn't Hamas give up their hostages in exchange for peace when Israel offered it? Why did Israel offer it? Why did Israel release Hamas prisoners back to Gaza? If it's a genocide, why would they do that? Make it make sense.

Let me ask you: do you have any compassion for the hostages, the families of the hostages, the babies and children raped by Palestinians, the people starved and forced to dig their own graves, the women whose breasts were cut off, the women who were dragged into crowds of Palestinian men to be raped to death... I could go on. But I won't because it's fucking terrifying, and terrifying that THIS is what you support.

Or you could just reverse that. The Israel does not want a 2 state solution. Netanyahu is only interested in himself. He should be rotting in a cell at the The Hague, and the sign above the door should say Shatilla, Sabra, Bourj El Barrajneh. He will do anything to stay in power. Once you've committed genocide there's no turning back.

And what about Hamas? You feel Netanyahu should be rotting in a cell? There should then be a special place in Hell for Hamas…Starmer might recognise a Palestinian state, but he doesn’t speak for me or millions of others. He’s bowing to the pressure of his lefty pals on his benches, because his position as PM is on rocky ground, so is trying to save his own skin by appeasing to their demands. Pathetic little man.

Anyone who supports the Israeli government and then has the audacity to talk about the horrors of the holocaust in the same sentence is a hypocritic of the highest order.

What bullshit

Just another terrible and weak decision from Starmer in a long litiny of terrible decisions.

Of course Israel have to win this war, it is obvious to anyone with a functioning braincell.
