What are your favourite tv shows of all time?

I’m not much of a tv watcher but I’m about to be in bed for an extended period of time (major surgery). Was hoping for tv shows recommendations. Just trying to think of ways to occupy my time.

Have bought a bunch of books and downloaded some games to my laptop.

I loved The Sopranos. But there isn’t a particular genre I don’t enjoy.

Thanks in advance

I've watched all 5 series four times over now.

Idris Elba is great in it and all the baddies were too !

Oh yeah. I struggled to sleep for weeks after the episode where she gets into bed and the murderer is under it. Brilliant series.

Brideshead revisited - the original, not the remake
Suits

Oops forgot New Tricks - until they changed cast too much

Piemam · 05/04/2026 22:39

Love Motherland and Ghosts, like a lot of PPs here. Also love Manifest on Netflix, my comfort watch as such; weird considering it's about a plane crash/ missing/ time lapse thing.

Anyway, also rank Father Ted as ultimate comfort watch.

Person of Interest - best series ever, absolutely gripping, set in Manhattan, fantastic actors & actresses, utterly original concept for me, strong female characters, very unusual story lines and the gorgeous chic Jim Caviezel, love a Man in a Suit, with a lovely dog! 100% perfect. When life is stressful i rewatch the dvd box set.

Happy to see lots of people mentioning Modern family (which i forgot on mine list).
They were amazing. As someone with foreign accent and occasional issue with words her "Do you even know how smart I am in Spanish" touched me😂

Purpleturtle45 · 21/09/2025 11:38

The Magic of Dance
Frasier
Peep Show
Lost

...and an opening series about a coach crash in the French Alps {I think??) and a child who came back from the accident after everyone else died? Something about a lake, maybe. It was one about 7 - 8 years ago, but no idea what it was called.

I think it might be Les Revenants (The Returned), it's on Prime
