To ask you to help me work out which film DD5 is trying to describe

DD5 is looking for this film:

It has the boys with hats and green hair in a black and white room. And the boys sing.

Wtf?

I remember when DS, who was around 2, kept asking us to play Fire Hole. After over a week of crying, begging and tantrums it came on the radio. Turned out to be Coldplay - Violet Hill.

Depends where you want to stop seeing it

Go to the down arrow at the very top right of the thread, where the breadcrumb trail is on the top left ("Talk> AIBU") and click "hide thread".

You can remove it from your Threads I'm On and Watched Threads. Or untick "watch this thread' at the bottom of the thread above the 'preview'/'post' buttons.

Go to the down arrow at the very top right of the thread, where the breadcrumb trail is on the top left ("Talk> AIBU") and click "hide thread".

I looked it up. It was made in 1947/8. If it was a black and white film, and only the boys hair was green, it might explain why the room was black and white.

Is it worth getting the dvd for?

It's not A Clockwork Orange is it?

It is a while since I watched it, but the singing in the rain scene they are in a black and white room/top hats and although no green hair, there is a lot of use of vibrant colour and dramatic music.

Not sure if this would be on at the time your DD was channel surfing though. It is probably an advert for something; by design they are memorable. What is the word for a visual earworm? Hope you get to the bottom of it!

It could be The Hives, in the video for Come On. They wear top hats, the background is zebra stripes and the lighting makes their hair look green.

Do you ever listen to the podcast the rest is entertainment? Marina Hyde and Richard Osman are on it and they have a fantastic memory for movies. Once a week they do a Q&A session and this is exactly the sort of thing I can imagine them enjoying thinking about.Why not give it a go?
