Pamper party for a 6 year old?!

My DD is turning 6 in a month and we asked her this weekend if she would like a party and if yes, what? In the past we’ve had bouncy castles or a tea party at home. The school parties so far have been magicians, bouncy castles, soft play etc. I was expecting something like that but no…she wanted a spa party.

apparently this is a thing now, she had the idea from a Disney programme called fancy Nancy (that she loves). A quick google showed that you hire a company to come to the house for an about 5-10 children and they give them glitter tattoos, paint nails etc. it can be for girls and boys.

im not sure how I feel about this. On one hand she very much wants it and it is very her, but she’s only 6?! I still thought we were in the magicians and pass the parcel period of life. Or am I being silly?

what do you think?

pamper party or not?

You could do the magician but get some glitter tatoos to apply to the kids at the party as a but of a compromise.

And just buy your own glitter tattoo set - they’re very easy to do and the kids love them at parties

Thanks everyone, glad it wasn’t just me!

I’ll suggest a magician that we saw recently with face painting and soft play!

No, parties are for being children and playing not for trying to be mini adults. We’ve got to 10 and none of her class have had one. I’d judge it at 6, sorry

No. Just no. Most of the kids in her class (and at her party) will probably still be FIVE years old. They are little kids, and parties are for playing party games, not getting fake tattoos and have their nails done.

Think of something else this time.

Yeah it's quite common round here at 5/6, the kids love it.

Not for me. Spa party at 6!

My kids (twins) had a swimming party at the local pool.

I imagine a lot of the children would be bored stiff by this! I wonder if you could do some more fun stuff but introduce glitter tattoos, face painting and hair accessories for example as part of the bit at the beginning?
I wouldn't want proper nail varnish near 6yos.
