I’ve noticed I’ve got a favourite seat in the living room and it’s accumulated a few of my things on and around it like my handbag, sweets, book, medication (because it’s the only thing that helps me remember to take it) a couple of letters that I opened and haven’t put away yet and a pack of baby wipes.
Dh is watching the game just now and I’ve sat down in my spot and accidentally knocked my medication off the armrest. I turned to dh and said “ do you know what would be handy, a little table next to me so I can put all my bits and bobs on” 🤦🏻‍♀️ my life flashed before my eyes before the words finished leaving my mouth. I’m 41 by the way how has nobody told me about this monumental moment.

Oh, also thinking that anyone under the age of 20 is beautiful because they have youth 🤣 I truly am my mother

I am the oldest in my team at work (by far). When I told them I was excited as I was going to see Deacon Blue there were blank looks all round. I am the same age as most of their parents!

I had the same when I mentioned the Spice Girls. Someone said "oh yeah I think my mum remembers them" 😱.

Totally outside of everyone else, but my mate got a new pony and the bloke delivering said "jump on him bareback". If Id been a teenager or 20s maybe but Ill be damned if I'm getting on a 14hh pony by leaping at my age 🤣

Oh 100% this!! I only ride my horse with my hat securely on, tack triple checked and if I think he looks a bit wild (reader, he is a chubby native, he is NEVER wild) then I’ll lunge him first!! I 🫨🫨🫨 now when I think of the things I did as a teenager!! My poor mother

The inability to sleep past 6.30 am (a TRAGEDY)

I groan - a lot

I say ‘oooooh lovely’ to a moderately tasty biscuit and hot cup of tea

Things like Britain’s got talent or anything ‘singing’ just makes me cringe and sounds like a blast of intolerable noise

I can’t drink more than 1 glass of wine unless I want the entire next day to be a total write off

I want cosy socks for Christmas

And I’m only in my thirties!!

Genuinely I saw a policeman the other day and thought he didn't look old enough to have left school 🤦.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes they are 2 years younger and you can't believe how ancient they are 😀

Yes, this happened to us! Out for a birthday with my female friends and we thought we would go for a drink at a coastal pub which used to be one of our haunts back in the day for a bit of nostalgia.

We bumped into a group of boys we were in school with who were doing exactly the same thing.. following a funeral. They were thoroughly bald, overweight, divorced, depressed (probably due to the funeral) and I remember us girls having a conversation between us thinking do we look this old? The consensus was that we probably did! Grin

AhBiscuits · 14/09/2025 18:52

I do loads of these.

I placed my order at a coffee shop and the woman said "my mum always orders that too" and I realised that she'd immediately put me in her mum's bracket. It felt weird for a working adult to group me with her mum rather than herself. I probably am about the age of her mum but I forget that sometimes so it was just a moment of 'oh yeah, I'm old'

Turned on radio 2 last night and they were playing club classics from my youth. Made me realise I'm very middle aged indeed

I went to a social history museum recently. The staff there told me they were having a clear out. They explained that they needed to update the museum for modern visitors and wanted to display more stuff from the 70s. The 70s! Things from a decade I was alive in are now deemed museum worthy.

Aside from my horrendous lax ligaments & tendons making every day a roulette of “which joint is going to hurt today”, I realised yesterday that I can’t poop sweep the garden without my glasses on anymore 😂🤦‍♀️

Working at an event for the local university and telling one of the students that I attended this myself… twenty years ago. I’m not even very old, I can’t be! Grin

Taking a picture of a label so that o can zoom in to read it. It

Omg I've started doing this..I've convinced myself that all writing on labels have recently been deliberately shrunk just to save money or something. It cannot be age. I won't have it!

I was chatting to an older man on the bus then realised he was 2 years me above at school, bloody depressed me the rest of the day !

I now regularly wear my glasses on the end of my nose so I can peer over them. I need to use one of those triangular metal things to open bottle tops that are too tight, I have started getting really irritated with small things that previously wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest - my bullshit tolerance meter is much more sensitive....

Ive been doing this for a few years.
Mainly with menus, especially if the lighting is dim.

It doesn't always work well with a coloured back ground and tiny writing. Ive struggled with some hair product instructions and some Indian pastes, it might be Pateks that have a purple background.

unsurewhattodoaboutit · 14/09/2025 18:37

Magnifying mirror, a pair of magnifying glasses with little lights on, insoles for every pair of shoes, a heated blanket, a little stool so I can use the hair straightener without having to sit on floor, a back scratcher, a sponge on handle to wash my feet in the shower…I could go on!

This is so true. And I never realised you could close up on your phone!

Had to give my year of birth to a lovely young store assistant in H & M and I thought “ god, I’m old”. Then there’s the fact that I’m even referring to her as a lovely young person. 😣
In my job, I sometimes have to ask people’s date of birth, and when they say some date post 2000 I always think they’ve made a mistake.

Lennonjingles · 14/09/2025 18:34

Enjoying wear full knickers, I got some by mistake, but they are so comfy. I recently had an ecg before an operation, asked to undo my bra and afterwards did I need help doing it up again, I’m 64 not 94. After operation and back in bed, nurse came to escort me to the toilet and sounded really astonished that I had managed to go all by myself.

5128gap · 14/09/2025 18:34

I keep saying "I don't know what the world's coming to". Also "Is that a thing now...?" in that faux bewildered way that implies disapproval.
And I'm not impersonating my mum when i do this anymore.
