I’ve noticed I’ve got a favourite seat in the living room and it’s accumulated a few of my things on and around it like my handbag, sweets, book, medication (because it’s the only thing that helps me remember to take it) a couple of letters that I opened and haven’t put away yet and a pack of baby wipes.
Dh is watching the game just now and I’ve sat down in my spot and accidentally knocked my medication off the armrest. I turned to dh and said “ do you know what would be handy, a little table next to me so I can put all my bits and bobs on” 🤦🏻‍♀️ my life flashed before my eyes before the words finished leaving my mouth. I’m 41 by the way how has nobody told me about this monumental moment.

Mine was realising I have to now take my glasses off to be able to read things close up. I didn't realise that not being able to focus close up happens to pretty much every one with age, I'm scared I might have to get varifocals! I'm 43!

I'm 44 and have started peering over my specs too, I was really quite terrified as I thought I was too young, so its a relief to hear others are similar!!

Devilsmommy · 14/09/2025 21:52

@CoheedandCambria your username made me feel old. The Suffering was almost 20 years ago😭

babyproblems · 14/09/2025 21:51

I can run 5km pretty well but had to lie down for two days after hurting my back putting my shoes on 😂 when the GP secretary asked me what I’d done, I told her I’d fallen over and stumbled because the answer was literally ‘nothing I was putting my shoe on’
..I am 38.
I also do a lot of crochet sat in bed in the evenings. My excuse for that is the living room is a building site and so there’s no TV etc!!!

Visiting a vintage car show and realising that most of them were from 1959.....my date of birth! I tell my sons now.....I'm not old....I'm vintage.....sounds a bit more glam.

Supersonix · 14/09/2025 21:49

Nights out sound awful
I don’t know what modern music is anymore
my joints hurt sometimes
I can’t seem to have a lay in anymore
my hair is going grey

Losing several stone, feeling great in clothes and then looking in the mirror and seeing platysmal bands on my neck that weren’t there before, now all I can think about is a face and neck lift.

The optician said the same to me and im 41 too.

I had this too! He said it with a little chuckle. He looked to be about 12.

Seeing people that I haven't seen since school and being shocked at how old they look.....then realising that's also how old I look now too!

This happens when I see celebrities on the tv and think Jesus they’ve aged. Quick google search shows they are my age 😳

Melatonin, thyroid tabs, blood pressure tabs, two pairs of glasses, phone, radio, miracle face cream, pain killers, ear buds, water

I always thought my mum was crazy with her own pharmacy bedside table..! Now i 100% relate.

Somebody I hadnr seen for 8 months told me I looked 10 years older!!!! That kind of made me feel old (er?)
Hope you told them to fuck right off?

No, because I know the woman had no malicious intent, is autistic and goes out of her way to help me.
I just came home and madly Googled 'Botox near me' L E D face masks and every other anti aging treatment Icould think of and wondered if itvwas worth my life savings ( joking!!!)

SybTheGeek · 14/09/2025 21:42

Needing a strategy for getting back up when I've knelt down on the floor.

And a drunk man recently who looked across at me and said "You look just like my fiance. Beautiful, except she's, you know, not old". Worst thing is, I'll take that 😂

The trendy little scandi stool i have as a bedside table is no longer fit for purpose, because I need about 2 square feet of surface top to accommodate all the essential paraphernalia I might need to help me sleep. Eye masks, ear plugs, water, magnesium, moisturers, painkillers, hrt..

I cannot possibly do anything once it's dark. Absolutely no way am I leaving the house or driving anywhere after 4.30pm in the winter.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 14/09/2025 20:06

I’m 50 in January and found stray hairs on my chin and grey hair in my bonce and eyebrows. I’ve now bought a handheld hair trimmer and the greys are getting picked out. FFS, I know I’ve lost my parents, no need to make me feel even older 🤔 thanks god 🙄

You're nearly 50 and you're only just finding grey hairs now?!
I started getting them in my 20s!

Not knowing instinctively where to tap my card when paying

needing to go to bed by 9pm

not wanting to go out and instead preferring to sit on sofa with a cuppa

turning the radio off when they are “playing garbage”

having an urge to bake loaf cakes

oh how I wish those points didn't resonate so much 😂

ThatCyanJoker · 14/09/2025 21:29

Taking one of those fold up chairs to the beach, as I get too uncomfortable on the sand!

I sprained my knee this week, which would be painful at any age but in my mid 50s it's lingering and has many an "oof" moment every time I move.

I got tennis elbow painting a small wall in the living room - I was off work for five months ffs ( job requires use of right arm) apparently it’s due to my ageing joints!
