To be completely obsessed by the band Idles?

I only really discovered them this week, and I’m spending every spare minute I have watching their interviews and live performances. Can a band really change your life?

I'm so glad I don't like Future Islands' music, I couldn't bear to watch Mr Crab Dance.

I'll be polite and say; I supposed the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same music.

I was also a massive Nirvana fan but don't get Idles at all.

I love Beachland Ballroom.

Love them. Seen them live 5 or 6 times and they are brilliant, so energetic, and bloody talented. I’m only sad that they play bigger venues now so less of an intimate feel than the earlier gigs I went too.

@FeliciaFancybottom

That’s what they said about Einstein and De Vinci at the time, and they were WRONG. I know genius when I feel it…

I don’t think they’re any special - same stuff you’d have found on a cheap punk compilation CD back in the day - but of course, you’re not being unreasonable to love the em. I wish I could find a band to be obsessed with again, like I was when I discovered Nirvana as a teen!

FeliciaFancybottom · 06/09/2025 18:12

This is all a bit embarrassing OP, they're average at best.

@TheFutureIs

Really!! That’s when you know you’ve made it!

I’ve got to watch that…

Also, the lead singers bedtime story on CBeebies is just the best

DarlingHoldMyHand · 06/09/2025 17:49

I'm not a fan as I really don't like the singer's voice, but each to their own.

@whoboo

Honestly - just watch this one! You can’t say that this is just ‘ok’!! Pure emotion and stunning vocals.

Hmm listened to a bit, they are ok

dreamingbohemian · 06/09/2025 17:42

Love them, love the chaotic vibe, reminds me of Nirvana too

Google their Tiny Desk performance
And Mother at the Bataclan

FlexiSadie · 06/09/2025 17:42

They're incredible live. I saw them in November and it's the best gig I've ever been to.

I’m torn between Jon Beavis and the drummer from The Walkmen…

@whoboo

Is it Mark Bowen with the moustache and the dress? I just love him, I could watch and listen to him all day. Plays in his underwear too. Fabulous mover and v cheeky.
