I don’t understand this at all. Are Snag just getting weirder and weirder or what?

OP ignore all the posters that say you’re posting ‘weird links’. You can clearly see it’s from Facebook so it’s hardly going to be sinister. Making a big hoohar over nothing.

I agree, it’s weird. Her acting isn’t great. For a business owner you have to expect a level of negative feedback, and you shouldn’t discredit your customers in a public video using emotional blackmail.

‘Reality’ advertising has become more and more popular - eg a ‘real’ person doing a review in their own house, looking like an amateur video as traditional over edited advertising is less and less effective. This however was bizarre, and I’m not commenting on the size of the woman, as it’s clearly a product for that demographic. It was the tone and the whole ‘im doing this right now because I’m distressed in my bathroom in the middle of the night’.

LoafofSellotape · 06/09/2025 10:30

Given what horrific things pop up on MN I think it's sensible not to click on a random link.

HotBathwater · 06/09/2025 09:11

whoboo · 06/09/2025 04:39

Is pretty odd, she seems overly invested. Are people here mostly 95 or something, oddly precious about clicking a bloody link, wtaf.

It’s cute that you think not wanting to click a random link is reserved for nonagenarians.

Dorb · 06/09/2025 09:10

I can only assume that some posters were pissed or sleep deprived judging by some of the ridiculous responses in the early hours. Agree OP - very odd!

A Facebook link doesn't work unless you have a Facebook account. Likewise tik tok or Instagram. I'm not on any SM platforms so clicking on it wouldn't work for me.

I also think it's strange to take link from one platform and post it on another for discussion. Surely it can be discussed within the platform it's on? I think OP here is marketing the product, this is just another form of click bait. So no, I absolutely would not click on the link even if it did work.

Why are you acting so weird?

And annoying.

JMSA · 06/09/2025 07:49

OP, I agree that it’s a weird and unprofessional approach. However, judging by all the sycophantic comments on there, it clearly had the desired effect!

Digidestined · 06/09/2025 07:40

randomchap · 06/09/2025 01:09

Ok. Take a moment and try to explain the issue. Currently you're making no sense.

What exactly is the issue?

Why are you acting so weird?

BlueEyedBogWitch · 06/09/2025 04:54

It’s weird, but it’s marketing, and it’ll work.

It doesn’t surprise me that the founder of Snag is behaving like this. It’s one of those companies like Popsy, which has a bit of a cult thing going on. I have a vague memory of Snag nearly going under a few years back and asking for donations from its members customers to keep it afloat.

andfinallyhereweare · 06/09/2025 03:21

I watched it- what’s odd about it? It’s typical of a trying on video. I’ve never heard of snag are they plus sized? Yes the woman is plus sized and you can see her body but I don’t think anything odd or weird happens in it- what’s do you think is odd? Are you just saying it’s odd as she’s big?

For me its nothing to do with her size ..its the fact shes the owner of the company and seems personally distressed by negative reviews of the shorts and her demeanour is almost nervous, she's quite breathless and rambling about the shorts and reviews

Seems quite desperate really and not professional but I don't know much about snag or their vibe so maybe this is "normal" marketing for them?

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 06/09/2025 04:48

I just watched. This doesn't seem out of keeping with other founder run businesses I see. I think it's good to sometimes and the real people behind a brand. Not just AI photos of clothes being shipped en masse from overseas. I am not a Snag customer but have heard good things about them and imagine they probably have a loyal audience who will respond to this honest and direct engagement and challenging of negative or critical feedback (which can be devastating as a passionate business owner)

I agree, given it’s clearly a Facebook link.

I think it was a patronising man, popped in to Mumsnet because no women in real life are bothered.

Whaleandsnail6 · 06/09/2025 04:45

It is a bit strange and quite sad.

Seems like they have got a lot of criticism on this particular product and she can't handle that.

I thought snag was quite a big company, but maybe not as big as I thought as she is practically begging us, the viewer to ignore any negative reviews and really putting herself out there in what seems quite a vulnerable state... breathless, in underwear, in her bathroom and her demeanour is just pleading.

Like this is the only way she feels she can prove the shorts...strange marketing really and quite an unprofessional video but I don't know much about snag so maybe thats their vibe?

SoManyIdiotsSoLittleWine · 06/09/2025 04:43

randomchap · 06/09/2025 00:59

And? Can you explain further. You're not making much sense

She’s making perfect sense. Watch the video, or don’t.

SpidersAreShitheads · 06/09/2025 04:22

I’m not a fan of Snag for the same reasons as PP, but I had a quick look at the link, expecting it to be their usual fetish kink shock stuff.

It was nothing like that at all - but was very, very odd.

For anyone who doesn’t want to click the link, it’s a very amateurish video posted by Snag from someone who seems to be the owner of Snag.

It starts with a close up of her face and she looks quite distressed. She’s breathing heavily and she looks as if she’s either just got up or just getting into bed. She’s talking about a critical review of Snag tights not being stretchy. She goes on to say she wants to prove that’s not the case, but in quite a desperate tone, not a salesy way. It then pulls back to show the woman standing in her bathroom in her underwear and holding a pair of Snag shorts.

I couldn’t watch the rest as it was so bizarre, it almost felt a bit voyeuristic! She was talking about how hard it is to have a business and was just pleading to the camera.

There was nothing professional about the video - it looked like something a reader would send in, but apparently it’s Brie at Snag.

Snag are quite a big brand - this video doesn’t fit with their usual style at all. It’s crass and off-brand. I don’t know if they’re changing tack and going for sympathy vote but it’s bloody weird.

Imagine the head of Ann Summers standing in her knickers in front of the camera in her bathroom, looking dishevelled, almost crying as she tells you how hard it is running the company, and how she wants to show you just how nice their knickers really are because she read a horrible review. That’s the vibe.

Really, really weird.

LoafofSellotape · 06/09/2025 03:34

I won't click on the link,I've only just stopped getting weird fetish Snag adverts and keep not to start them up again. I can imagine it's odd OP,most Snag ads are.

andfinallyhereweare · 06/09/2025 03:21

FrazzledHippy · 06/09/2025 01:24

Yeah, that's not a good look. It's weird as anything and made me feel uncomfortable watching it. Like I was watching someone in mental distress standing in their knickers. Definitely not a reasonable reaction to a critical video/post!

Camaraderie · 06/09/2025 01:18

Pickleoh · 06/09/2025 00:57

It’s a post of a woman saying she’s seen a video (about what I don’t know!) and showing her trying on a pair of purple snag tights. But it’s just all really odd! I think she’s saying she’s the owner - but she surely can’t be. It’s posted by Snag so maybe

And what is it that’s worrying you?

mondaytosunday · 06/09/2025 01:17

I’ve heard of them but am not that familiar with them as a company and bcagree this was weird. It makes the company look very unprofessional. If someone posts something negative about BBC CG it ja hi your company I don’t think this is how to address it - or why they feel the need to.

IfyouStealMySunshine · 06/09/2025 01:13

Yeah you’re right OP it’s weird.

Pickleoh · 06/09/2025 01:08

If you want to see to without clicking on the link look at the Snag profile on FB I guess!

im not that invested that I want to spend any more time trying to ‘convince’ you to watch it. I’m sure others will have seen it naturally
