To think the men women need protecting from aren’t asylum seekers but the ones shouting outside the hotels?

I read in the Guardian this week that 40% of the men arrested during last year’s racist riots had already been reported to police for domestic abuse. That stat hasn’t left my mind.
It makes me think that the men standing outside asylum hotels claiming to “protect” women are often the very ones we need protecting from.

AIBU to think the real danger isn’t coming from migrants, it’s coming from the violent, radicalised men already here who use women’s safety as a smokescreen?

Just because they need protecting from one group of men doesn’t mean that another group of men are not a threat.

randomchap · 06/09/2025 01:14

The stats suggest that the men women should be afraid of are those in a relationship with them, or those who they've had one with.

The terrible fact is that women are far more likely to be abused by the man they go home to, than anyone else.

Oh dear, you took that ever so seriously!

It was supposed to be lighthearted? Difficult to know on MN where men often equals evil.

Exactly this. The stats have been twisted so people believe 40% of anti immigration male protesters are convicted domestic abusers, when they show nothing of the sort. I wonder if a similar deep dive has been done into the backgrounds of the arrested counter protesters? it'd be very interesting to compare.

Thank you @StopFeedingTheSeagulls. When did people become so stupid that they can't understand that people arrested for rioting LAST YEAR aren't the same as people protesting and trying to protect women and girls including alot of women protestors (the pink ladies). And yes the far left is well known for sexual assaults and was at the forefront of trans activism so are no friend of women but no one seems to be investigating them ...wonder why? Alot of posters on here are just useful idiots and care more about their leftist credentials than protecting women and children. www.theguardian.com/society/2013/mar/09/socialist-workers-party-rape-kangaroo-court

NoSuchThingAsAFreeHoliday · 05/09/2025 23:14

And their ringleader (Farage) going to the US to suck up the bum of Trump. What a hypocrite. It’s almost as if it’s ok for women and girls to be sexually abused if it’s done by white people.

"Not a single solitary soul should be at any liberty to mix with us unless they have papers/permissions checks done. Is that too much to ask from any government?"

In 2024, 42.5 million tourists visited the UK. Do you want background checks on them?

..with passports and ID by controlled routes...as opposed to....

TheGrimSmile · 05/09/2025 23:10

Yanbu. I've been sexually assaulted many times when I was younger. Always by white British men. Can we deport those fuckers, please. But honestly as PP has said, it's men that are the problem. They are all a problem. I certainly wouldn't look to those scumbags kicking off outside hotels to protect me.

I don’t have 59 asylum seekers from Afghanistan living anywhere near me or my teenage son. I don’t know anyone that does either. And out of those 59 people how many of those will be sex offenders?

I am, however, within earshot (living near to a flag shagging footy pub) of an awful lot of white British men who are drunk, high on cocaine and will probably be not particularly nice people either.

How do you know they are high on cocaine?

Menopausalsourpuss · 05/09/2025 20:22

I think you are confused. That stat refers to men ARRESTED for rioting not merely protesting outside a hotel. They are two completely different things. I don't think there has been any analysis of the men outside hotels and for your info it's completely lawful to protest. And alot of the people protesting are women worried about their safety after several attacks by the illegal migrants.

So many women have crimes committed against them by white men and other men turn a blind eye to it and either excuse it or defend it. They all play blind until someone of a different colour commits a crime against women then it's a problem.

This.

Sunshineonperth · 05/09/2025 22:54

It's not either or it's both. Men of all ethnicities and cultures abuse women.

PollyBell · 05/09/2025 22:54

Well stop having relationships with them, why is women thinking being more and more taken away from them women habe choices if they want to stay deluded that he is wonderful and a great catch and let's have children together the father will be ag great role model

It would appear with this thinking men are the brainy ones woman are not?

Open your eyes if a man shows you who he is beleive him and wake up

Oh come off it 😆 would you be happy with 59 young men from Afghanistan living next door to you/your teenage daughters?

maybe look up the stats of most prevalent sex offenders…

Totally agree. I know which ones I’d want near my DDs!

The men protesting outside asylum hotels are probably bad news for women, by and large.

Importing lots of young men from cultures which treat women abysmally is probably bad news for women, by and large.

Both of these things can be true. You don't always have to pick a tribe.

Yes, this. ^

Longingdreamer · 05/09/2025 22:27

Both are a danger, but why are we inviting more dangerous people here?

White men?

Tiredofwhataboutery · 05/09/2025 22:24

I think it is men we need to be worried about. Brown , white, holder of a foreign or domestic passport.

So inside the hotels we have men from third world countries with extremely dubious views on women.

Outside the hotels we have British men (and women too) concerned about their wives, sisters and daughters.

Yet you, in some perverse effort at moral grandstanding, assert that it's the latter who are more dangerous to women.

If we follow your logic then once all the British men have been replaced by third world migrants we will be the safest country on Earth.

This is where "critical thinking" has got us. People who cannot see the wood for the trees.

This is surely a joke? We do not have British men concerned about their wives sisters and daughters outside these hotels at all! A high proportion of those very men have convictions for violence against women and girls. If they felt so very passionately about women’s rights they’d be campaigning for victims of sexual and domestic violence to get better justice. If they GENUINELY cared about women they would be holding white perpetrators to account, they would be holding those amongst them to account. But they aren’t, because the reason they’re outside these hotels hotels had nothing to do with women’s safety, and everything to do with racism.

Stella Artois and cocaine is a powerful combination.

And far more of a threat to anyone than your average asylum seeker.

DD recently returned from a month touring round places such as Sri Lanka, Dubai, parts of the Indian sub continent, I know it’s not the areas the asylum seekers come from, but the thing she noticed above all else was how she was effectively ignored by the men in these countries when she ordered anything or paid for things, they always asked her partner if it was alright to proceed, outside of countries considered western, women are definitely still second class citizens and not respected

Haha come off it - you think men in Dubai respect women? Have you not heard of the porta parties?!

*sorry responded to the wrong comment!! (Csnt work out how to delete!)

freerangethighs · 05/09/2025 22:11

YABU. You're arguing about whether women need protecting and restraint/special provisions from men, but not asking WHY this protection is necessary. What if we reframe this to say that misogyny is unacceptable, and then define how a society free from misogyny would look?

@cobrakaieaglefang yes.

Not a single solitary soul should be at any liberty to mix with us unless they have papers/permissions checks done.
Is that to much to ask from any government ?
Especially when it's self selecting young men and we are passive and just have to cope with it?

If all these men were sending on older adults with women and children. Everyone would be safe wouldn't they.
